Terrelle Pryor

Personally as an OSU fan, I would declare Pryor as one of the best athletes and players in college football for his playmaking ability, but I wouldn't say he is elite. I wouldn't say there are very many elite college QB's in any given year. It's like Tim Tebow, he was one of the best players, but was not an elite QB. Just my opinion.

He is an elite athlete, perhaps the best athlete in college football. That doesn't make him an elite quarterback.

Ok hows this he is an elite athlete playing the quarterback position. Which makes him on the the top quarterbacks in the Country.

His "eliteness" will be predicated on how he is portrayed on ESPN and other media. There is no doubt that if OSU keeps winning his highlights will be on sports center ad nauseum. He'll be on a winning team that he directs offensively, and will be "elite" even if by default in the eyes of many.

Yes, he is an elite athlete playing quarterback. That doesn't mean he is an elite quarterback.

Elite? Really? Come on now. He's an above average passer at this point. You guys are looking at what he did against a C-USA, ACC, and MAC team, irrespectively. Marshall is garbage, Miami is overrated like the rest of the ACC, and Ohio is in the MAC and lost to Toledo the previous week.

Terrelle Pryor is going to rack up very nice stats through Ohio State's weak beginning schedule. Then again, Penn State gets dismantled by Alabama, Iowa gets stomped in the desert and Wisconsin tries to give a game away and wins by one. What teams will Terrelle Pryor face all season that will really present any challenges for Ohio State?

lol....im 100% unbiased when it comes to OSU. I am far from a homer.....I call it like I see it. I say he is elite.....you say he isn't....go figure. Thats like your opinion....man. Does that mean I think he is the best QB in the country? Hell no. But to say he is "nothing special, average, etc." is way off base.

Again it is still early, but there is a reason that journalists are praising his play and I don't think its because they are "biased."

As for your schedule comment.....I fail to see your point. Instead of disagreeing with someone.. "like OMG you just he is elite, but hes so not!" Why don't you elaborate on why you feel that way.

Would you say he is top 5 in the country? Top 10?

The only QBs that I honestly would take over him is Mallet or maybe Luck.

So you're telling us you don't post things you do just to rankle the ire of OSU people on this site or are you just lying?

Yep, he's one of the poor souls on the net whose life exists solely to piss people off. I pity their existence, they are among the dregs of our society, worthless individuals.

and neither one of those have the escapabilty Pryor has. Locker might...might have been in the thought prior to this weekend but 4-20 doesn't do much for him now.

Ohio State beat Miami soundly giving up 2 special team TDs and Pryor only having an average game.... nobody.
  • karen lotz
As a QB he is top 10 for sure. He still struggles with certain types of throws and elite quarterbacks don't do that. I would say Mallett and Luck might be the only 2 elite QBs in the country at this point. Locker has never really impressed me but he gets/got a lot of hype because McShay and Kiper loved him. Again Pryor is one of the top athletes, if not the top, in the country.

Journalists! HA! Get that shit out of here, seriously. It's their profession to write, not know the sport. When you start seeing college coaches (you know, the guys with the time, effort, but mostly knowledge of the game that is so superior to JOURNALISTS) praise his passing precision, then come back to me.

Elite means he is of the highest quality. He isn't. It's that simple. He's played two bad teams and Miami. Against Miami he completed 44% of his passes. I don't care if a running back gets 250 yards in a game, if it's on 125 carries it's not all that impressive.

He is, in my opinion, one of the elite athletes in the country, regardless of sport, playing quarterback. LeBron James isn't necessarily an good quarterback just because he's a phenomenal athlete.

Quite frankly I think you guys are just giving Terrelle Pryor too much credit for how good other players on the team are. Ohio State is LOADED, and Pryor doesn't need to be great to look ELITE. Have we not learned anything from 1st-team Big Ten quarterback Todd Boeckman? Dude was a monster, right? No, he played on a ridiculously good team and the JOURNALISTS praised him because they don't know shit.

You fail to see my point? What's hard to comprehend? Ohio State playing Marshall and Ohio is like Cardinal Mooney playing eleven dead bodies (which are easier to find in Youngstown than they're willing to admit). It's not ELITE to play pitch and catch against MAC/C-USA defensive backs.

Let's see how Pryor reacts on the road against a very skilled defense, i.e. Alabama.

So in your opinion, nothing less than a 24-31 3 TD's, 112 yds rushing and no picks against Alabama in the title game, oh and winning of course, will convince you.

Personally, I have a little less lofty parameters, but I pity the children in your future.

Miami Offense 352 Yards 1 Touchdown 4 turnovers
    Pryor 346 Yards 2 touchdowns 0 turnovers
a qb completeing less than 50% of his passes is bad. Really bad. 0 turnovers with about 4 passes dropped by Miami DB's.

So basically you are saying that the journalists are talking out their ass? So I should take your word, a online forum nobody, over theirs? lmao....thats rich.

And before you come back with it....no, I am not saying they are dead on. But they aren't just talking about him to blow smoke.

Through 3 games (last year and this year):

    2009:
    Passing yards: 613
    Passing TD's: 4
    Rushing yards: 176
    Rushing TD's: 2
    Turnovers: 5
    Passer Rating: 132.8
    Comp: 57.1%

    2010:
    Passing yards: 715
    Passing TD's: 6
    Rushing yards: 165
    Rushing TD's: 2
    Turnovers: 2
    Passer Rating: 156.62
    Comp: 63%

So far in 2010, Pryor is better/same in every category except rushing yards. The team is 3-0 and has beaten a ranked opponent. Averaging almost 300 ypg and 3 TD's per outing with sitting out all but one series in the 4th against Marshall and all the 4th against Ohio.

Where would you rank Pryor in a list of OSU QBs since, say, the John Cooper era began? Mine would probably look like this (although I am probably forgetting someone):

    1. Troy Smith
    2. Joe Germaine
    3. Terrell Pryor
    4. Bobby Hoying
    5. Craig Krenzel
    6. Todd Boeckman
    7. Kirk Herbstreit
    8. Stan Jackson
    9. Kent Graham
    10. Steve Bellisari

Agreed. You summed up what I was saying in one sentence. Nicely done.

Once Pryor can get his short passes down and deliver a better ball, he will be an elite QB. He is much improved from last year, but there is still a lot of room for more improvement.
