Does this guy belong to this site? Writes like it. He has gotta be kidding to think that the Big 10 is for real now. He's going off of the Big 10 going 4-3 in their "close call" bowl games, thinking that they are competitive with the SEC now. Take away the Koolaid. But let me guess, the "cycle" has finally turned??? He might want to do some real thinking considering this is the first winning bowl season the Big 10 has had in years....... and Wisconsin will flop. I wouldnt doubt if Iowa chokes also. No comment on OSU yet. I think alot of people are basing this season off their bowl game last year to a pitiful Pac 10 conference school.
** prepared for the backlash from Big 10 fans ** -
captvern4 - 8 the Big Ten is better IMO than the SEC. The top three teams are from both are close however I would give the edge to the SEC. Both have bottom feeders and they all suck. I dont think its sippin Kool aid . Its getting to be a reality. I think once they add Nebraska and if TSUN gets back the Big Ten will be the best no question

cats gone wildWho in your eyes are the 4-8 spots in both conferences?
-
dat dudeI think he makes great points and uses facts to back them up, as opposed to your original post.
-
cats gone wildDo you want facts from one season or the past 10 or what? Do you want bowl history facts? You cant have facts for this coming season since nothing has happened. And btw this yahoo writer is from Wisconsin so Im guessing he's biased.
And we here this Big 10 is on a comeback every year and that this is the year for OSU to win the title. -

What does 10 years ago have to do with anything?
He is writing about the upcoming season. His article and stance is based on returning starters and depth for Big 10 teams as compared to SEC teams. Considering the performance in the bowl season by the top four teams in the conference (4-0, 1-0 vs SEC) and the returning starters, its a reasonable argument. Relax. Damn, SEC fans are so sensitive.
And FWIW, I do not think the Big 10 is better than the SEC. -
captvernFrom last year and how i think they will be this year
big ten sec
1. OSU bama - sec
2 Iowa florida - sec
3 wisky Lsu - big ten
4. Psu geo - big ten
5 msu ark - coin flip
6 nu Aubrun - coin flip i know that aubrun beat them in the bowl game but the game could have gone either way.
Plus Fitz is one of the top coaches . always does more with less
7 pur tenn - I will give this to Tenn just of history . They have not been that good lately
8 minny miss - big ten miss lost alot from last year
9 mich kenty - big ten just because tsun will be much improved and should win 9 games this year
10 Ill usc - sec just of the ol ball coach
11 indy msu - does it really matter both are not good and vandy one of the worst teams in the nation -
centralbucksfanWell, when you accept and keep THUGS like Masoli in your conference, along with letting agents hang around and pay your players...its tough to keep up with that win at all cost attitude in the SEC. Maybe when the NCAA stops turning a blind eye and everyone can be on a level playing field, the Big Ten could finally compete.
Of course, don't let that .500 record the Big Ten has vs the SEC over this decade sway you one way or the other as well.
BTW, I see nothing wrong with the article. Its pretty level headed discussion and not once did the author come out and say he Big Ten was better. If you dont' think they aren't gaining on the SEC..then your the one stull hung over from a couple pitiful LSU seasons. -

You are correct. There are no "THUGS" in the Big Ten at all. I also agree its the NCAA's fault the Big Ten can't compete.
What a joke of a post. -

What a joke of a post.
Figured you would be the first to put in your two cents, as usual. And its worth the norm..about two cents. The only joke here, is the thread itself. And when you start a thread like this, your going to get exactly what I gave. Now go stalk someone else. -
AutomatikI thought it was a decent read.
Funny to see cats STILL riding the SEC horse, when LSU is rather mediocre. -

He's the first because the rest of the board knows we could have a more productive conversation with a brick wall than trying to convince you out of your delusion. -

My delusion? And what would that be smart guy? You just cant' deal with the truth, just like SHE can't. Thats the reality of it. Again, whats so wrong with the article? I'll wait for your intelligent reponse, with facts of course.
Always find it comical when the personal shots come flying...basically meaning you and others have NOTHING to add out of your own ignorance. -
namod65I'd say the two conferences are about equal this year. OSU and Bama is a toss up. Maybe slight edge to OSU because Bama loses a ton on defense and OSU's offense should be much improved. Florida is probably going to come back down to earth after a few unusually good seasons for them. Where were they before Tebow? That's probably a realistic expectation for them right now. Iowa is a top ten team returning their QB and a great D. Wisky is a top ten team returning their QB and many others who smacked the U who apparently was back. From what I've heard from different people and different radio shows, LSU's offense probably won't be any better than god-awful. So they are a question mark. Penn State lost their whole offense except at RB. So they are probably no better than 4th in the conference. So head to head, OSU is a little better than Bama, Florida probably better than Iowa but its close, Wisky is way better than whoever is third in the SEC, LSU I guess? After that I don't think the rest of the teams below the top show much to be any better than their respectively placed team in the other conference.
This article is fairly accurate. Its not far fetched, just look at the talent returning for both conferences. There's not a big gap at all. Sorry SEC fans but I think your days of dominance might be coming to a close, especially with Nebraska joining up with the Big Ten next year. That gives the Big Ten four of the top six winningest teams of all time. -
darbypitcher22Northwestern and Vandy play each other out of the gate this year, maybe a way to have some sort of a measuring stick?
and guess which team is going on the road? -
SpeedofsandI watched the Big 10 media day and I'd say they should be even this year. Wisc. has 18 starters back, they will not flop. PSU is lucky Wisc. is not on their schedule, but they will be rebounding for the rest of the season after losing to Bama in week 2.

What truth did you post with facts to back it up of course? It is proven fact that the NCAA has made it impossible for the Big Ten to compete?? Can you tell me for sure that if a Big Ten team had an opportunity to bring in the THUG Masoli, that everyone of them would pass it up? Please provide these facts so you can have something to add besides your own ignorance. -
Pick6Karen what are you trolling this thread for..we are talking about winning football teams and winning conferences, no idea why you are here.

TheMightyGatorsWe all know how bad the Big 10 has been over the past several years, but I definetly think they have improved some going into this season. That's based on Iowa and Wisconsin expectations. The rest of the teams outside of OSU look mediocore at best which is pretty much the norm for them. As for catching up to the SEC, I'll believe it when I see it.
As for the poster who said where was Florida before Tebow. Are you on drugs? -

What? LSU was one of the best teams of this past decade. They had a mediocre year in 2008. -

FootwedgeCowan Cowherd was saying today that the Big 10 is just as good as the SEC right now. Not that Cowherd is God or anything.

Trolling? I read the thread and came across CBF's post claiming the NCAA was preventing the Big Ten from competing with the rest of college football. Other Big Ten teams can beat the SEC, why can't the fuckin bucks? Myles Brand had it in for OSU??Pick6;440715 wrote:Karen what are you trolling this thread for..we are talking about winning football teams and winning conferences, no idea why you are here.
