Now Florida with a violation

  • sportchampps
Looks like the NCAA is really cracking down on agents around programs. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5392159 This probably wont be to big of a deal because i think Florida self reported the issue and it would only affect 1 game.

Hopefully OSU can stay out of this mess

I suspect that they've been taking fire for how they handled the whole USC bullshit and rightfully so, and we'll see a lot more "minor" stuff being investigated. Though, not gonna lie, UF on the radar doesn't disappoint. :)

As mentioned, if this was a self-report it won't be a big deal, as we have seen from OSU in the past with their self-reporting.

NCAA generally likes it when you man up, because at least it demonstrates some sort of institutional control.

Damn you hate OSU don't you...LOL

I was just saying, based on past precedent, particularly with OSU (because they often self report their minor violations and the NCAA appreciates when they do that), they should be fine. I referenced OSU because of their GOOD track record with it, and because people would relate to it here.

If that is hating, then what isn't in your mind?

And I don't mind the conference, school, or the team, I just hate their fans (for example, ones who grasp for straws that much to somehow twist what I said into "hating") ;)

Already made a thread about this bitch. Do some research and stop stealing my thunder!

Is a player receiving a $100,000 payment from an agent a minor infraction? I don't know the particular definitions.

ts, it's fine. On most things you're pretty open minded, when it comes to all things OSU you're naked in a field at this point. LOL

The NCAA is a bunch of communists.
  • sportchampps
Yeah i dunno how minor it is but it is self reported and he only played in one game after i dont think they should get any kinda bowl ban maybe lose 1 or 2 schollys

    LHS where is ur thread

I hate this kind of stuff. The school self reported and the guy is no longer there. Why should they be punished for something they couldn't really control and that they tried to fix once they found out about it? On the other hand, if you don't punish the cheaters they will just cheat and then self report, and then they can do whatever they want. There's no way to win if you have a cheater on your team. If you don't report it you get punished and if you do report it you get punished.

Apparently the kid was given $100,000... thats nuts

^^^ I don't understand why he couldn't have waited until after the bowl game to take the dough

Seriously. And now the school and all the other athletes are going to be punished for it. He'll get nothing.

Does anyone else think Urban knew about this then pulled a Nick Nolte from "Blue Chips"? Except, Urban felt bad cause he may have been associated with a cheating program so he needed to pull the "I'm resigning, mental exhaustion" thing.

The timing of this kids payoff and Urbans departure make sense.

    From Bluechips-

Slick: I'm not going to bullshit you Pete. He ain't no brain surgeon aight. He took the SAT recently and scored a 520 out of a possible 1600.
Pete Bell: 520? You get 400 for just spelling your name correctly.
Slick: That's it, he messed up on his name.

Ha ha. Yeah, then he decided, its only a hundred grand...the penalty probably won't be too bad so I'll just go back.

haters gonna hate. looks like Maurkice did not take the money, the letter was not signed, postmarked from Canada, the family has provided bank, phone, credit records, Maurkice took a deferred line of credit after declaring for the draft. More info today from Urban at SEC media days in Hoover, Ala. ...Mike Pouncey has been scheduled to appear and is there. Nothing to see here.

Does this really surprise anyone? FU will always pull a Houdini and escape the shackles but everyone knows there is sleight of hand going on behind the scenes.
  • karen lotz
same could be said for UOS
  • Tiernan
How so Potato Head? When was TOSU ever investigated for recruiting violations?

I could be wrong here but I don't think this investigation has anything to do with recruiting. Has UOS ever been linked to improper benefits only to escape the shackles due to behind the scenes sleight of hand?
  • Tiernan
Yeah you're right FU's problems stem more from Agent benefits (which goes back to recruiting in most cases) TOSU's most celebrated case of agent abuse was when Chris Carter was suspended from the team, which school officials called on themselves. Squeaky clean Lotz squeaky clean...
