Trey DePriest

Scout.com recruiting analyst thinks that OSU is in the lead for DePriest (you have to scroll down a few of his posts). It also sounds like an announcement may be coming soon. I'm just hoping this isn't another Hicks situation! Landing his buddy Braxton Miller definitely helped. -
dat dudeWow, I would be shocked if he came to OSU. I pretty much heard he was a lock to 'Bama and have since given up on him.
-
mellaDat dude, I've heard similar things.
-
SportsAndLadyHe's got a sweet name for college football

what? -
OneBuckeyeI was refering to the poster above who said Trey was all Bama
-
devil1197Wonder if his friend Miller is trying to get into his head.
In the end he will probably head to Bama but OSU's class is already stacked so it won't be that bad. -
ironman02What's the latest on DePriest?
Things were sounding positive a few days ago. Is he still visiting OSU soon?
I've heard a lot about his HS coach pushing for Bama. Hope that Tressel and his staff are able to overcome that. -
ironman02Might have answered my own question. DePriest is supposed to be visiting OSU on Friday and then going to Bama for the rest of the weekend. I'm thinking he ends up down South...hope I'm wrong.
-
vball10set^^^me too
-
dat dude
Glad I didn't get my hopes up. I felt he was 'Bama all along.UPDATE: The staff at Bucknuts.com has heard that Trey DePriest "fully intends to pick Alabama" and that his visit to Columbus on Friday is a "courtesy look." The site also hears that Springfield assistant coach John Cupps, who has been the source of a lot of the DePriest-loves-Bama news, has dreams of coaching in the SEC and is trying to get in Nick Saban's good graces by steering DePriest to the Tide.
---
Four-star OLB Trey DePriest of Ohio (No. 33 in the ESPNU 150) confirms to Erik Stinnett of ESPN affiliate CrimsonConfidential.com that he is down to Alabama and Ohio State, and reveals that he will visit both schools this weekend in an attempt to arrive at a decision.
DePriest will only spend a day (Friday) in Columbus, whereas he will be in Tuscaloosa for parts of three days (Saturday through Monday), but that's simply because he can easily take another visit to Ohio State if he feels the need to since he lives an hour away.
DePriest didn't offer a concrete timetable for making or announcing his decision, but he seemed to indicate that that was the reason for these trips. "That's why I'm making these visits -- so I can make up my mind"; "That's what I'm going to find out this weekend (whether one emerges as a favorite)"; "If I see (the deciding factor), I'll know what it is."
There has been a lot of speculation recently that Ohio State has made up ground on Alabama, but ESPN Recruiting's Bill Kurelic says that the Tide are believed to still be DePriest's favorite. -
Mohican00A courtesy look? pfffft
give him a tour of ohio union then call it a day -
mucalum49I wonder if the potential NCAA sanctions may be taken into consideration in regards to Bama. Probably too early in the investigation to think of any penalty but you never know.

If I were Jim Tressel, I'd cancel the visit. He has no real interest, so don't waste my time. -

A better question is whether what this guy's coach has done (reportedly getting extra $$ from Alabama to coach at their clinics) and then pushing his star athlete in their direction is a violation of some sort. Sure seems like it to me. -

Agreed. I never bought into the "OSU gaining ground" line of thought. -
ironman02Bama is the current national champ, they have a storied program, the SEC has been the most dominant conference recently...and his HS coach is pushing for the Tide. Tough to beat that combination of factors. I hate to see another top LB prospect leave Ohio, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I'd say DePriest will do quite well at Bama and I'm sure that OSU will be just fine at LB anyway.
