SEC speed

Looks like the only event the SEC didn't win was the 110-meter hurdles, in-which Barrett Nugent of LSU finished 2nd.

    100-meter winner: Jeff Demps, Florida
    200-meter winner: Rondel Sorrillo, Kentucky
    400-meter winner: Kirani James, Alabama
400-meter hurdles: Johnny Dutch, South Carolina
    4 x 100 relay results: 1. Florida, 3. LSU, 4. South Carolina, 5. Auburn, 8. Kentucky

I follow track & field quite closely and the SEC is usually the best sprint conference in the country. The weather is conducive to good sprint training for most of the calendar year as opposed to midwestern or northern states where sprinters either have to train indoors on a regular basis or go tough it out in cold weather. And we all know the risk of injury to sprinters is greater if they push themselves too much in cold weather. If I were a sprinter, I'd probably look to go south as well. One example,.... Gahanna's Blake Herriot - signed with the Gators (although he did not have a good state track meet this year - not sure the reason).

Would the Big10 dominate if it were run in Columbus in December? ;)

Chris Rainey lead off and Demps was the anchor. Demps looked like he got some cramps in the last 15-20 meters, but they did hang on to win barely.
