SEC speed
-
centralbucksfanTypical SEC chest thumpers. Seriously, its pitiful. This is even recognized nationally by writers if that tells you anything. Poor losers are one thing, but when you have fans who JUMP on the conference wagon, and gloat as SEC fans do...is a whole other level.
"Lost amid the powerhouse/underdog conversation, last week's conference rankings elicited almost no responses, and I'm totally fine with that. Not that we could make it through an entire Mailbag without some (misinformed) SEC chest-thumping, of course ..."

karen lotzSo Big Ten chest thumpers are better than SEC ones?

So, nope.....speed on a track doesnt = speed on a football field. If you are the fastest track runners, it means you are slow on the football field.
I never said tht they weren't fast on the football field or that it didn't transfer to the football field. However, when does a guy ever run 100 yards in a straight line on a football field without 11 guys chasing him trying to bring him dow and 10 other teammates and 6 officials to get in his way?
They're two different types of speed, two diferent running styles, which would lead to two different times -

The person that stated that they are fast in the trenches is absolutely correct. The Big Ten has slow lineman defensive and offensive while the SEC has fast linemen.
Does anyone have that classic pic of I believe Ali Highsmith hitting Boeckman? Looked like he was in his neck. lol. Cats gone wild, do you have it? -

I noticed that you were the first one to bring up the Buckeyes on this thread. Interestingkaren lotz;375408 wrote:GO BUXXXXX!!!!!!!

Some of these other SEC hater posts are hysterical too. Speed is speed people, doesn't matter if it's in 80 degree weather or five below!
While I agree with you that speed is speed, weather becomes a factor when you are getting hit.
Anyone that has played football remembers how much worse it hurt when you get hit in the cold rather than when it's warm. This is one thing I don't think players from schools that never play in cold weather would be used to. It would also take a lot more to get warmed up and be fast and stay warmed up, especially if you're not used to the cold weather.
But yes, speed is speed. -
SQ_CraziesThe whole SEC speed thing just always cracks me up. There are fast players all over the country, always have been, always will be. Bottom line is, SEC teams win games because they have good football players.

Thank you. Classic. Did he think he was going to get that pass off? -
Cleveland BuckThe teams out west and down south obviously have superior speed in the trenches when compared to Big Ten teams. Just ask Oregon, Georgia Tech, LSU, and Miami.

You mean the Miami team in 2002? Or the LSU team last year? Or what about the Florida team against one of our bottom feeders?
Like I said, I'd love for team SEC to cross the mason dixon line for a good ole BIG TEN ass whooping.ffff -

It hurts getting hit in 80 degree weather too. In the end, speed and talent trump weather almost every time. -
TheMightyGators^^ and you can throw coaching in there too.

I agree. OSU fans are well aware.....and don't forget....ND fans have been dealing with it for YEARS. -

Yeah, ND has been down and I don't deny that.......BUT, I don't think you want to start comparing records versus the SEC! -
rmolin73What bottom feeder did Florida lose to?

Michigan. Our last place team destroyed Tebow LOL -

Once again sleeper posts false information. Michigan was not the last place team in the Big 10 that year........how can the team that finished last land a New Year's Day bowl game? They tied for second place:

BTW, a six point loss is far from being destroyed you idiot! -
SQ_CraziesShut the fuck up. You're a Notre Dame fan, this is a college football discussion--not peewee football.

Thats my point I was like when Michigan played Florida they were 2nd in the Big Ten. If you have no clue about teams or the actual games shut the fuck up this is a grown mans conversation. -
sleeperOh right, I forgot Florida was like 10th in the SEC that year, and had to play up against the Big Ten's #2.
Whatever helps you sleep at night LOL -
