UNC Rotation for Next Year

From everything I have heard, Singler may be announcing his decision this week, and it seems as if he is leaning toward coming back to Durham.

Exactly what I figured. Someone shoot me now.

I'm assuming he's going to leave, don't want to get my hopes up too high and have them dashed :) If he stays, I'll hire someone to neutralize you, sound good? :)

With the entry of Greg Monroe and Derrick Favors, Singler figures to move even farther down in the draft.

Strangely I think he has a better shot at the lottery next year. I figure he will return, he should have declared and went through pre-draft camps, but his father didn't want him to do that. Felt it best to make a decision and stick with it.

    haha...it's a deal, mattinctown :)

From what I have read, he's pretty torn on this decision. I think he's projected as a late first rounder in most mock drafts, but I'm not sure if that's going to be enough to get him to leave. Despite rec's guarantees that he's gone (you know he's just using that reverse mojo junk again), unfortunately, I think we'll be seeing Singler in Durham again. K is probably pulling out all the stops, including the coveted team captain label. We all know what it means if he returns too. Duke will be the favorite to repeat as national champions. I swear, I don't think I can handle that, so he better get the heck outta there.

How in the world did things go bad so quickly? 2009 National Champs, Barnes chooses Carolina, then everything just goes to crap. Something has to go right again soon. :)

Singler is officially coming back. Have you started the hiring process yet, mattinctown?

Seriously, this makes me sick. Oh well, I can only hope that a freshman Barnes takes it to a senior Singler in Cameron, similar to Hansbrough-Williams.

Edit: Looks like wildcats beat me to the "good" news.

On a brighter note, Henson's twitter says he weighed in at 203 lbs. today. That means he has put on around 20 pounds since arriving in Chapel Hill. If he can get to 215 or 220, I think that might be pretty solid for next season.

Hoping Bullock can back up what he was saying about dookies not being able to guard him.

All in good fun. Unfortunately for Reggie, historically against Coach K it matters if your point guard is the one who is unguardable. The reason K has a losing record against Carolina all-time is that the Heels have had a long line of point guards who can break their man off of the dribble and make Duke pay for denying the wings so hard. UNC won't have one of those next year, making it very tough to beat the Dukies.

I think Drew II will be much improved, and Marshall should be a solid PG who handles the rock and makes good decisions, but neither of those guys are going to have what it takes to play with Kyrie Irving, at least not from what I've seen. Irving was a HUGE commitment for Duke as he gives them what they have been lacking...a true, quick PG that can score as well. He's going to be a freshman, and I'm sure he'll make mistakes, but he's going to have the decided advantage in athleticism against the Carolina PGs. The development of the Plumlees is going to be a major factor for Duke also. They have MUCH more upside than Thomas and Zoubek had, but we'll see how that turns out.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, I'd be happy with an improved season from Carolina. They're probably not title contenders unless some major improvements occur, but next season should be a stepping stone to what should be a VERY good team the following season, provided they don't lose too many guys to the NBA.

I dont see why all the great pg's dont go to unc, they are bound to win a title, in less you are ed cota :(
  • ironman02
Cota should have got his title in 1998. Screw Andre Miller and Utah.

The run to the Final Four as a #8 seed during Cota's senior season was a nice way to send him out after a disappointing regular season, but I really wish Ed would have been part of a title. He was an assist machine...a true floor general in every sense of the word. Kendall Marshall's game has drawn a few comparisons to Cota. If he turns out to be anything like Ed, then I'll be content.

I love Ty Lawson, I love Raymond Felton.

Ed Cota has been my favorite Carolina PG to watch ever.
  • 2quik4u
he is my second favorite behind Mccants
  • wildcats20
Do you mean player in general?? Rashad wasn't a PG.
  • 2quik4u
    yea
  • wildcats20
    Loved McCants, hated his attitude.

Is Justin Watts going to transfer?

I don't know. It seems like I hear something different every day. He's probably never going to see a lot of playing time, but he's also living out a lifelong dream by playing at Carolina and receiving a free education from a very good school. Stay tuned, I suppose.
  • 2quik4u
    i hope he does

Word on the street is that he has enrolled in summer session classes as most of the tar heel bball players do. Thats just what I heard though.

I hope he doesn't. I don't like players transferring out of Carolina unless it is an extreme circumstance like Alex Stepheson.

i could care less about him it frees up a scholarship where they could get a player that would contribute

Sounds like the Wear twins are transferring from UNC:

They probably would've seen some good minutes next season, this leaves the Heels dangerously thin on the front line.
