#1 rated recruit Brandon Knight announcing Wednesday

  • SportsAndLady
Wednesday at 4 pm on ESPNU.

Deciding between UK, KU, and UCONN. Florida is out of it..and Syracuse would be a long shot.

This will allow for a little domino effect (Selby, Lamb, etc.)

I'm saying he goes to UK.

    Brandon Knight to UK

    Marquis Teague to Louisville

    Jeremiah Davis to Indiana

Is he involved with the 3 I listed in the domino effect? I really dont know.

Sort of, being that he's a PG (like Knight) and has UConn on his short list, it could affect his decision.

    Gotcha.

Its funny, Teague is pretty much waiting on Knight because he wants UK but wont if Knight goes there. Davis is waiting on Teague because he wants IU but wont if Teague goes there. At least, thats what it appears and has been said so far.

So, I really hope Knight chooses UK, which it appears he will.

Didn't want to start another thread on this but it would appear that Maurice Walker (#9 center according to ESPN, and good friend of Cory Joseph's) is signing with Minnesota after his visit. Good signs for Joseph to MN, he would be a massive pickup for the Gophers.

    Knight is a UK lock.

I'd love Knight to UK. Teague to UK. Gilchrist to UK. Lamb to UK. Quincy Miller to UK. Leslie to UK. Ross to UK.

Am I wanting too much? Haha.

Michael Gilchrist announcing tomorrow too? The top player in 2011. The recruiting dominoes might really be falling tomorrow.

Lots of impact players going to be deciding in the next couple of weeks.

Is it true that Gichrist is going wherever Knight goes? That'd be Uconn or UK, right? Guess we'll find out. Could be a good day tomorrow.

Isnt Gilchrist a teammate of Kyrie Irving? Is Duke recruiting him at all? I know when Indiana was leading for Irving at one point there was thought that Gilchrist wanted to play with him in college.
  • Azubuike24
    Duke isn't recruiting Gilchrist.

Knight is announcing at 4:00 PM
Gilchrist is announcing at 5:50 PM

John Calipari will join the show live at 4:20 PM...interesting timing?

People are expecting a ground-breaking day for Kentucky. Nobody has ever signed the #1 player in consecutive classes on the same day. It could be the beginning of a huge month for the Cats. Lamb, Jones, Leslie, Ross, Teague and Miller all targets who could follow.

So is Gilchrist certain that Knight isnt leaping after a year? Why make your decision based on someone a year ahead of you, who could go to the NBA when you get there?
  • cbus4life
I think UK will get him, but i'm hoping they don't only because it would be fun to watch the meltdown on catspause.

Tony Wroten, the #2 point guard for 2011 posted this on his twitter last night:
Just talked to the bro mike gilchrist. Ok I gotta new top 5 y'all. Real talk. 1.Uconn 2.KENTUCKY 3.Nova 4.Syracuse and 5.UW.
I'm guessing Kentucky is in all caps because Gilchrist told Wroten his decision. Take this for what it's worth, but Wroten's previous top seven schools did not include UK.

The #1 recruit for '10 signed back in November.

Seems like the same story again. Cal does an awesome job of getting the top talent. He'll play them, they'll play well, and then they'll leave after a year. One of these years, he'll get good talent to stay two years and bring in a nasty FR and win a title.

After watching the McDonalds and Nike Hoops games I think Knight is a two year player. He's very good, but I don't know what kind of NBA stock he'll have after one year.

I agree. I'd take Irving over him.

Josh Selby looked better, too. He's still considering UK but I think he'll pick Kansas.

Knight, I believe, is a 2-3 year player because of his strength and the fact that he isn't a true, pass-first PG. With that said, like Tyreke Evans, he is going to get the chance to prove he can be a scoring PG right away because he will play that in Cal's offense. Evans was not a sure-fire one and done guy when he came to Memphis, but after 80% of a season playing PG and doing it amazingly, he was gone.

Irving and Selby, in-terms of projection to the NBA and athletically, may be ahead of Knight. However, I don't think either will have a bigger early impact, and to me, that's why I want Knight the most because offensively he can produce much quicker. UK is going to need scorers badly next year, especially a PG who can shoot.

Then again, this class doesn't really have a consensus #1 player. There are half-a-dozen guys who could fit that label, and the various recruiting sites reflect that. Knight is just ranked #1 on Rivals...that doesn't mean he's clearly the best player for sure.
