Duke is the worst champion of the 2000's so far

Prescott
He was their 4th leading scorer,2nd on the assist chart, and 3rd in 3-pointers made.AND their starting PG.Truck Bryant wasn't WVU's leading scorer

can we put that argument to rest?
I know he was an important part of that team, but had kentucky beat wvu and duke still won the title would we still be bitching about it? -
Pick6duke haters owned.
-
reclegend22Haha.
Champions baby.
We Are Duke. -
Hb31187Lol is nobody gonna answer the question? We know you're champions, I get it. But are there any teams from the past decade that you think you stack up well against?
-
reclegend22I don't need to answer a thread that was clearly created out of hate.
I hate a lot of things, too, including, most of all, North Carolina. But when they win the national title, I don't start threads about how it's tainted. No one cares, because they are champions.
If I WERE to answer the question, though, I'd say this trio of Singler, Scheyer and Smith, and the rest of the supporting cast, could play with anyone. They might not win 'em all, or even a majority, but they would win some and give anyone anything they could ask for. This is a stout TEAM and coached by Michael Krzyzewski. And they are a national champion. Enough said.
And for the record, they absolutely slaughtered a WVU team that handed it to Kentucky -- and had already done so when Butler went down. Anyone who brings Butler's injury into the mix is vastly reaching. The game was, as Billy Packer might say, ova. -
Hb31187Nobodys saying you're nto a national champion. Hell this question is asked every year, how a team would stack up with past champions. Duke fans seem to have their panties reaaaaallly ina bunch over this though
-
georgemc80This team plays with Maryland and the first Florida team and could beat both. On a good day, they beat Michigan St.
There I answered the question with just as much speculation as anyone else. -
Prescott
Jay Bilas said it best today on Outside the Lines. I'll paraphrase.Duke fans seem to have their panties reaaaaallly ina bunch over this though
The Duke fans and some of the Duke staff worry too much about what others think of Duke. Fans are allowed not to like Duke and they don't have to have a reason.
Some Duke fans, not George, are so insecure about everything Duke that they jump on every thread just to defend Duke or put a Duke spin on things.
This thread is prime example. The title might be a little over the top, but the question is valid and, as has been pointed out, it is asked every year. -

Duke was very very dominant in the tournament. Anyone who says it was tainted is simply retarded.reclegend22 wrote: I don't need to answer a thread that was clearly created out of hate.

In a one game type of scenario I think any national champ could beat another. Overall though, I don't think they would fare well most of the time vs the 01 Duke team, either UNC team, 04 UCONN, either Florida team, or Kansas in 08. I think they could hang with Michigan State, Maryland, and Syracuse.georgemc80 wrote: This team plays with Maryland and the first Florida team and could beat both. This Duke team had terrific guard play - which is something almost every NC team has had. They were very improved inside this year, but I think where they fall short of other champs is that Lance Thomas/Zoubek/the Plumlees are not Darnell Jackson/Darrell Arthur/Cole Aldrich or Tyler Hansbrough/Deon Thompson/Ed Davis or Joakim Noah/Al Horford or Sean May/Jawad Williams/Marvin Williams. -

like this post but im a duke fan. most objective post ive seen so far.j_crazy wrote:2quik4u wrote: 1st Round: Arkansas Pine-Bluff (nuff said) Won the same number of games in this tournament (1) as Kansas.
2nd Round: Cal (forgettable Pac-10 team) Averaged 79 points per game, and against Duke scored 53.
3rd Round: Purdue (leading scorer didn't play) (the committee could not seed Purdue lower than 4 given their record so someone had to play them
4th Round: Baylor (legit team)
5th Round: West Virginia (leading scorer didn't play, lost Da'Sean Butler in second half (when the game had already been decided)) but who without bryant, beat Kentucky (aka the untouchables) ALSO, Butler is their leading scorer and he did play (though not well).
Finals: Butler (good squad, well coached, but not even top 5 talent in the country) i read somewhere that they have more top 200 rated players than syracuse.
Conclusion: Duke 2010 = a middle of the road champion in the 21st century
Fixed.
Listen, I hate Duke as much as the next guy (or so I thought until reading this thread), but you can't take anything away from this team so it's best to just accept it and quit whining. you sound like sore losers, which is odd because most of us didn't have a dog in the fight last night. -
77LegendWho cares, you can't take Duke's 2010 Championship and you will never see them play any Championship team from the 2000's. Although I agree that the committee needs to change how they seed the # 1's and # 2's, it is what it is now. Duke won. Respect it. Top # 1 Seed should get the Lowest # 2 Seed. 2nd ranked # 1 Seed should get the 3rd ranked # 2 Seed. 3rd ranked # 1 Seed should get the 2nd ranked # 2 Seed. Lowest ranked # 1 Seed should get the Top ranked # 2 Seed. In this years case it would have been Duke and Ohio State. Fairest way IMO. But Coach K has done a heck of a job with probably the least talented Championship team he has had. Give the Man his dues.

Yea well its fun to speculate, just like I do every year with each championship team in football and basketball77Legend wrote: Who cares, you can't take Duke's 2010 Championship and you will never see them play any Championship team from the 2000's. 77Legend2Quik.....It's all good. That's what these boards are for, but you seem to have a little more animosity towards the Dukies....lol. Like half of the nation.
