Orrville Red Riders vs Col. Bishop Ready Silver Knights

Also, RR1, consider this question that was brought up tonight: Has there ever been a first year head coach (and I mean TRUE first year head coach, not just first year at a school) who has won a state championship AND also PLAYED on a state championship team FOR THAT SAME SCHOOL!?
Well I have no idea where he went, but Dru Joyce went all the way to the finals in his 1st season, with a Championship team from the year before and someone named LeBron , and couldn't coach them to a win. Sly has no where near that kind of talented team and has coached them to the final game, so he gets my vote as coach of the decade ! -
thePITmanWow, what a game! And if you think it was the best game possible, the nightcap between Zanesville and undefeated Port Clinton was even better!
Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS TO ORRVILLE! Bolyard was in foul trouble (I don't think I've EVER seen Bolyard get 4 fouls, or even 3), and Wasson had to sit for a bit. While both of them were on the bench, Orrville still managed to make up ground. Another total team effort. When Ready hit a big 3, Besancon answered with a big 3. Miller had big buckets. Pirman did an OUTSTANDING job on Graessle, as did Hoobler (although I think Hoobler was a little too slow for him, but physical enough to frustrate him). It was obvious that both Bolyard and Graessle were counted upon. Bolyard hit his bomb of a 3-pointer, and the guy beside me at all the games today (he's pretty cool) was just like everyone else - "What the... wow!" And I turned to him and said "We've seen a lot of that... not really that suprised." And he said "I believe you, because that kid did not seen one bit suprised that it went in, either." Haha!
Keep game planning, Orrville, and keep playing with 100% effort!
I'll be there Saturday cheering you on! I may even wear a red shirt... but LCC is red and blue, so maybe red wouldn't work. Go BLACK, Orrville! That's your other school color, right?
Anyway, Go Orrville! Congrats on a great game. One more against a VERY good and very solid team, all around. The point guard #14 for LCC is very, very good, and they are deep at the post position with kids that work hard just like Orrville. It should be a battle. -
thePITmanOn another note, EVERY single student section today (all 8 of them) has done the Beastie Boys tune that Penn State made popular 3-4 years ago (or whatever it is). I am sick and tired of that tune, now! Haha. The worst was the Zanesville vs. Port Clinton game, where I think both student sections "sang" it once out of every 2 or 3 possessions down the floor. It got kind of annoying. The "duel" between Orrville and Ready was cool. Ready was a little louder, but Orrville's was easily the best of the day, with the band and the students and the jumping... Just know, Orrville, that those of us that have been at ALL the games will be sick and tired of it come Saturday; so if you're going to do it, do it LOUD and make everyone "Wow" at it when you do. Just a suggestion, since I was getting a headache every time someone started singing it by the end of the day today. haha.

thePITman^^ If that's what all the student sections are singing and dancing to nowadays, then yes. It sounds like Beastie Boys to me. LoL.

thePITmanIt was more of a "challenge" to Orrville than it was "complaining". I like the song, but EVERY team, EVERY student section...? To the Orrville fans - If you do it on Saturday, make it special! Do it WELL, and LOUD! I love seeing student sections and fans getting into the game, and it can definitely have an effect on the game. Keep up the good work, both the players, coaches, and fans!
Good luck Riders! Get the 'W'!
[wow, I just used lots of exclamation marks] -
FlashWell, got home just a few minutes ago. Should have left when RR1 did. 71 got to be white knuckle driving around 9. Sam was fouled big time at the end and it was the right call. If they foul you on the game winning bucket and its not called, then that's a shame. Game could have gone either way. Ready very physical and played hard, but we matched it. Can see how they beat Taft if they were B-ball players only. You need mental and physical toughness to match up with Ready. Sam's foul shot:

RedRider1flash,
Sly must've been pondering one of my head scratching questions. I ask the hard questions, baby.
Speaking of baby...precious. THAT's what it's all about.
It starting spitting snow just as i got on Rt. 30 around 6pm...didn't think it would get that bad.
Remember after our semifinal win (1996 I think) it was an ice strom? Traffic crawled up 71. You could see the ice on the guard rails. -

After a win at STATE always seems like a beautiful sunny day, like yesterday, it was a beautiful day for ORRVILLE basketballRedRider1 wrote: flash,

THE4RINGZHey, Hey, Hey this game is over. You've got ONE MORE to focus on tomorrow. The past is the past we need to focus on the NOW. We can talk about memories when we are old, right NOW we need to focus on the NEXT game not the LAST game.
How is that for a little pep talk to the Rider Nation?
