Triway vs. Smithville, DIII Wooster District Semifinal
-
thePITmanThis is the game nobody seems to be talking about, with the Orrville/Hillsdale matchup in the top half of the bracket. Smithville beat Triway last year in the district finals, and Triway gets another shot at the green machine this year. Triway is the 2 seed, and Smithville is the 4 seed, but that stuff doesn't matter. Both teams know each other very well, and it'll be a matter of whose shots are falling and who can execute the most effectively, like normal. Any other thoughts?
-
RedRider1what would be cool is if they had a doubleheader at the college for the dist. semis....and then the final at the COW too. Orrville, Triway, Smithville and Hillsdale would sell the place out.......of course, Smithville and Triway did that themselves last year.
Easy to say Triway gets revenge, but Smithville is playing good ball right now. -
THE4RINGZI'll take the revenge factor, and Snoddy's coaching experience in the play-offs and say the Titans win this one.
-
thePITmanIf depth makes any difference at all, the advantage immediately goes to the purple team.
-
thePITmanSo, who gets to go on and play Orrville for the district championship? We'll find out tomorrow night. Good luck, Titans!
-
riders1I heard a Triway starter will miss the game? Any truth to this?
-
RedRider1This one could be a real barn burner. Could make a case for either team. Both teams playing well right now.
-
THE4RINGZGame Day. Good Luck Titians.
-
thePITmanRingz, did you change your avatar? Haha!
Go Titans! We'll have to play a MUCH better game than the poor performances we put out against Chippewa and Waynedale. -
THE4RINGZToo many turnovers in the first half against Waynedale. The Titans will have to eliminate those tonight if they hope to move on. I look for Triway to use alot of pressure all over the court to control the tempo of the game, and get some points off of Smithville's turnovers.

Well, I just heard that the Smithville coaching staff is aware of this, now, so I guess there's no harm in saying "Yes, it is true."riders1 wrote: I heard a Triway starter will miss the game? Any truth to this? -
THE4RINGZThis is where the depth Pitman discussed yesterday will come into play.

Yah, but you'd rather not depend on it. Well, time to suck it up and play a solid game. Go Titans!THE4RINGZ wrote: This is where the depth Pitman discussed yesterday will come into play. -
THE4RINGZThis is the last thing I will say on the subject. If you had to win one game in the tournament, which Wayne County Area coach would you rather have coaching that game other than Coach Snoddy from Triway?
No one? -
RedRider1^^Great point.
Used to be a great list of coaches in the area...Smitty, Montgomery, Reese, Potopsky, and the guy who coached Norwayne in the 90's (can't believe I'm forgetting his name).
....now it's bugging me.
But yeah, Snoddy is kind of the guy in the area. -
thePITmanCoach Snoddy will definitely have our kids prepared, as will Snowbarger and his kids. Good luck to both teams tonight, and I hope for an exciting, clean game!
Go Titans! -
Mr. RussellWe will take Snow as our coach in the big game any night!
Good luck to both teams and go Smithies! -

As well you should. He is a great coach, just doesn't have the lengthy track record the other coach in questions does. -
FlashRR1 were you thinking of Hanzie at Norwayne?
-
ricolapotopsky? seriuosly?
-
THE4RINGZTriway by two at halftime. Triway needs to take care of the ball and rebound. Smithville needs to have some of those shots fall.
Fasten your seatbelts the second half is about to begin. -
RedRider1Yes...Hanzie....thanks flash.
And yes I included Potopsky (the early 90's version)....didn't he take Dalton to a final 4? I know his time at Dalton didn't end to well, but he got a team to Columbus...that has to count for something. -
majorsparkI here Triway wins 36 - 22. Were they playing stall ball or could no one buy a shot.
-
BRFWhat a game! 22 points? That's sick. Tip of the hat to Coach Snoddy. We simply CANNOT let them dictate to us.
-
THE4RINGZSnoddy's game plan was sick. I wonder if that was the plan all along or a halftime adjustment. I am going to say halftime adjustment. Smithville seemed off all game.
Congrats to The Smithies on a great season.
