NateWhat's the outlook on the SVC this year? Is it the usual 1-2 punch of Zane Trace and Adena? How deep is the league? Whose coaching who? Top Players? I know the Moose is still at ZT, which is great.
-
Ankle BreakerWord around town is that Piketon has three starting pitchers throwing in the 80's at 87, 83 and 82. One of them is a lefty. So I think Piketon will make some serious noise in the league this year.
-
QuintAre they all freshman? Transfers? Or did some players develop miraculously? I don't think anyone in the SVC threw mid 80's last year (except Wonderleigh, and he never knew where it was going).

I seriously find that hard to believe. The fastest kid they had last year threw around 75.Ankle Breaker wrote: Word around town is that Piketon has three starting pitchers throwing in the 80's at 87, 83 and 82. One of them is a lefty. Ankle BreakerI don't want to lose credibility on this site so I'll just say this came from the inside and high up. I didn't see it or clock it, just quoting. I suppose that is worthy of losing credibility though.
-
NateI call BS also. In 2002, ZT had to 80+'s in Davis and Baker. There were maybe 2 others in the league at that time and the league had some arms then.
Fausnaugh - WF
Zickafoose probably hit 80's at Adena -
NateDoesn't look like many SVC Huddlers made it to OhioChatter.

We need to get the word out!!! Chillicothe is out of the OhioChatter loop.Keebler wrote: Doesn't look like many SVC Huddlers made it to OhioChatter. -
QuintI have heard that ZT will be without Maxwell, Trip, and Haynes this year. This will most definitely hurt their chances in the league.
-
Ankle BreakerThis also balances out the league a lot more. Will be interesting now.
-
Ankle BreakerPiketon off to a good start by taking down perennial powerhouse Wash. CH in a scrimmage 5-4.
-
QuintMean Gene will have the Redstreaks ready to play!
I believe ZT beat Whiteoak 9 to 1 in their scrimmage.
My inside sources have told me that WKKJ is doing a spring sports preview. I'll post a link as soon as its available. -

NateI'm sure the Moose was not happy.

NateH.S. BASEBALL: ZANE TRACE 13, CHILLICOTHE 6
Trace bounces back after the Teays Valley game.
Looks like ZT can still produce runs without Maxwell, Haynes and Tripp. -

I believe that was a night game at the VA. . . what a freaking awesome place for a game.Keebler wrote: H.S. BASEBALL: ZANE TRACE 13, CHILLICOTHE 6

NateZANE TRACE 13 COLUMBUS BRIGGS 4
The Pioneers (2-1) defeat the Briggs Bruins by the score of 13-4 in Columbus on Thursday night. The offense hammered 16 hits while going deep three times. Sophomore lead-off hitter Colton Whitehouse got things started on the first pitch of the game with a solo shot. Whitehouse had three hits on the day. Chris Finley had a two-run shot in the sixth inning. Finley had four hits with 4 RBI's. Jerrod Collins had a solo shot later in the frame. Rick Chamberlin, Drew Davis and Ian Carle all had two hits. Jessie White added a RBI double while Brandon Hardman had a pinch hit double.
Freshman Trent Downs threw a great five innings of relief to pick up the win. Downs came on with the score 5-4 in third inning. Briggs had six hits in the first two innings, but Downs only gave up two hits. He had 3 K's and did not walk a batter.
Zane Trace will be back in action on Saturday in Kinnikinnick when they host two of the top programs in Southern Ohio. The Pioneers will take on the Washington Court House Blue Lions at 11am and then take on the Wheelersburg Pirates at 4pm. -
Ankle BreakerBlackburn strikes out about 16 Warriors last Friday and freshman Farmer fans 16 Huntsmen yesterday. Those are two of the arms that are supposed to be throwing in the 80's for the Streaks. I'd say they are pretty good.
-
QuintGood for Piketon! Mean Gene is a great coach!
I'm not going to lie though. . . I'll still have to see it to believe it that these guys are throwing in the 80's. Pitchers can be very effective not throwing in the 80's. Zach Wolfe for Westfall just threw a three hit shut out against Unioto, and I don't think he touches 80. But, he does have great control and he pitches smart. I would assume that Mean Gene's pitchers will do the same. I'm not trying to pick on these guys. . . but 87 is bringing it for the SVC. -
Ankle BreakerWell, Redstreaks have 55 k's in the past three SVC games. Sounds like someone is bringin' it.
-
QuintOr the SVC is having a down year. If Piketon has 3 guys throwing in the 80's, I would think their record would be a little better. Again, I haven't seen them play this year, but I did last year. I'm not sure the players have progressed that much in a year's time, so I'm not ruling it out. I'm just skeptical.
ZT picked up a good win against Circleville the other night. -
NateIs Southeastern still undefeated in the SVC?
-
Ankle BreakerFreshman fireballer Zach Farmer K's 17 Panthers last night. Now the Streak pitchers have about 72 K's in the last 4 SVC games. ZT will be the next victim tonight as they face Redstreak ace Brandon Blackburn.
