Orrville Girls basketball

Mr. 300
I know this is tough for you to understand, but we are talking girls basketball in this thread. You want to start something about the boys, then do it in the boys basketball thread.CCRolly wrote: That 9 point win was a real butt whooping of the Wooster girls. If you want to talk about a whooping, lets talk about every game your boys basketball team has played this year.
Not to take up to much space on an Orrville girls basketball thread, but your lady generals were whooped twice by WH this year, as in beat, as in "L" in the column for Woo Woo. -

CCRollyMr. 300 is also the same guy who wanted to meet me in the mens room at BW3 at one point... You also must be very proud of that 2nd place finish in the OCC this year for your Lady Knights. Tell me, when will the banner be raised for that?
-
Mr. 300
Now now Rolly, let's set the record straight. I offered to meet you and buy dinner at BW3's with my wife and two kids after a football game, but you declined. Don't embellish the story to fit your preferences.CCRolly wrote: Mr. 300 is also the same guy who wanted to meet me in the mens room at BW3 at one point... FlashWH had a great run under Jack and Lisa Cline and in one of those years they played a conference team in the finals or semi's.

Hmmmm, wonder who that conference team was in the finals??? Gosh it slips my mind.Flash wrote: WH had a great run under Jack and Lisa Cline and in one of those years they played a conference team in the finals or semi's. -
BRFThe year was 1984. West Holmes (28-0) defeats Orrville (23-5) in the finals, 36-35 in OT. Lisa Cline wins the game taking an inbounds pass at the foul line and a one on one drive to the hoop. Orrville has ball with just a few ticks left on the clock, in bounding at half court and fails to get it in to Rhonda Winters. Other starters I remember were Nancy Shie, Ruth Steiner and Holly Clay. Head coach: Al Lehman, assistant: Gene Meyers. I believe that was the first of three straight state championships for the Knights.
I don't think there have been many state finals in ALL of Ohio sport history that featured both teams from the same league. -
Mr. 300BRF, the shot that Lisa hit was from the top of the key with 2 defenders on her, and not a driving shot to the hoop. I was in the studios of WQKT running the board for that game, and didn't get to see it live. However, thanks to the modern technology of VHS tapes, was able to see the game later.
Good luck Riders the rest of the way. The Woo/Orr game will determine your fate. -
From the HillsGreat, great game. Also St. Johns was a great venue for high school championships. I believe the 86 championship was played at the JAR in Akron. This might have been the most impressive of the championships for WH since it was without Lisa Cline, but the JAR didn't have the same feel as St. Johns.

Yes, yes. Thanks for pointing that out. It was a long time ago, but with your description.........now I can see it in my mind! (although, I'm seeing more of a foul line jumper..........what do you think?)Mr. 300 wrote: BRF, the shot that Lisa hit was from the top of the key with 2 defenders on her, and not a driving shot to the hoop. -

It came from just inside the circle, but beyound the foul line. I can remember the WH faithful saying is was a pure swisher to win the game, but watching it on replay later showed it banged on the back of the rim and rattled in. That was an incredible shot to make with the defenders draped all over her. -
Mr. 300Caught tonights Jr High contest between Orrville and West Holmes. Ummm, Orrville, it's going to be very, very lean in a few years for your program. Wow. 7th grade score was WH-45 Orrville-8, while I left with 4 minutes to go in the 8th grade game, and WH was up 54-16.
-
FlashNot for about three more years. We have an exceptional freshman class as does WH. We are lean in those classes (7th and 8th) now, but were going to have a better 6th grade coming, but no doubt we'll struggle some. Remember you only need 2 good players from each class to make a team.
-
rrfanI don't like hearing scores like that for our Young Riders...Get to work and get better.

I remember going to Columbus to watch the '94 girls team (Keri Simmons, etc.) in the final 4. We played (and lost) to West Holmes that day too, right?BRF wrote: I don't think there have been many state finals in ALL of Ohio sport history that featured both teams from the same league.
We werent in the same league then, but it was certainly a very familiar team. -
CCRollyEver watch the Division I girls Volleyball State Finals? At least every other year its two Cincinnati teams playing each other. Redrider1, I believe that was '93. Because Wooster was there that year as well. Would've won it all that year if Marcie didn't get undercut on a breakaway lay-up by a Wadsworth girl in the District Final.
-
Mr. 300I don't think with a healthy Marcie they would have beat Butcher and Pickerington. I was there to watch that game, Picktown was strong that year.

BRFHEY!!
Cut out the non-Rider talk on this thread!
Next up is Clear Fork tomorrow night at their place (and I'm talking about the Riders). -
rrfanYea really...let's get back on track...

CCRollyThe only reason I bring Wooster up is there are almost no other Wooster huddlers on here. The following is beyond pathetic. Most of you Orrville huddlers and I see eye-to-eye on most subjects, but I apologize for "polluting" the Orrville threads!
