Orrville Basketball 2014-15

Okay, well looking at PAC football you lost 47-0 to Triway and EVERY PAC school played them closer than you. So there is no indication you would have won. Plus Indian Valley finished second in the PAC at 8-2 and DID NOT make the playoffs.

    WTH??? Played them closer???? smh
    Tusc Valley (0-10) 47-7
    Fairless (5-5) 56-20
    Tuslaw (3-7) 57-13
    CVCA (2-8) 45-14
    Ind.Valley (8-2) 34-27
    Manchester (5-5) 54-13
    Timken (2-8) 58-15

Other than Indian Valley...they blew everyone out, including us! Hardly a case that those teams played Triway closer! And yes, we would have gone .500 with that schedule!!

Your opinion is you would have won but there is nothing to support that and the fact is you were beat by a larger margin than any PAC school.
    Orrville - lost by 47
Tusc Valley - lost by 40
    Fairless - lost by 36
    Tuslaw - lost by 44
    CVCA - lost by 31
    Ind.Valley - lost by 7
    Manchester - lost by 41
    Timken - lost by 43

Going .500 puts you in the same playoff spot you had this year in the OCC.

Damn...you are gonna get that point across arent you. Must have been a guy that got your ass kicked by Orrville or never got a chance to step on the field for the Riders. Now you enjoy seeing the Riders take it on the chin right now. You have posted 23 times and half have been on an Orrville basketball thread....yet you have no interest in the Orrville program....Troll away my friend, Troll away!!

Timken will merge with McKinley. http://www.cantonrep.com/article/20150114/NEWS/150119661
Possibly 3 teams will need to join the 5 remaining teams in the PAC. Orrvillle, Northwest, Norton?
  • An-Old-Fan
Without knowing any OCC bylaws, how soon would this move happen. IF the other schools leave the PAC as early as next school year, would Orrville look to join 2015-16?

I heard from a GOOD source that IF the PAC teams would leave...then Orrville could get into the PAC for the start of the 2016-2017....IF they vote us in. I think Northwest would be the best fit to fill the immediate vacancy left by Timken next season...IF they vote them in.

If If If If....I don't see us being voted in. Past history would say I am right...

Orrville will be voted in. The main person preventing them from getting into the PAC in the past is now pulling for them to get in. It's a good move for Orrville for football in terms of getting more wins...........not so sure about other sports. Football will probably have to go 8-2 or 9-1 to get into the playoffs now.

Football is the sport with the limited post season teams. Most of the other sports everyone gets into the post season. The key to getting in the post season in football would be the other 3 teams that we would play that would get us points. Wooster would be one (not week ten probably) and then your token DI Cleveland team (LOL) and then someone else that you could gets points from ( West Holmes, Ashland, Lex.,).

If Orrville goes to a smaller school conference they would offer nothing for West Holmes. Ashland or Lex to play them.

I will believe all this when I see it. 8-2 and 9-1 to get into the playoffs so what you are telling me we are still not going to the playoffs...Well sign me up!
  • CCRolly
Wooster gets nothing from playing a D5 and getting smaller team in non-conference play. I hope they end the series.

Although I hope that never happens the worse we get and start playing smaller schools it will have to be talked about. Will be a shame for kids coming through to not get that experience. It is a different game, different than playoff, even different than state championship game...

Size wise, it's like Massillon having a rivalry game against Tuslaw every year..........other than the fact that Orrville has far more wins against Wooster than Tuslaw would've ever recorded against Massillon. Wooster needs to dominate the rivalry much longer than two years before we start talking about eliminating the game IMO.
  • CCRolly
Domination in the rivalry has nothing to do with it. It's irrelevant. Wooster earns next to nothing for playing a D5 or lower school. Especially when they're down.
  • Flash
Well this is all speculation, the two schools have to leave the PAC, we have to be invited, we would have to get out of the OCC ( two year notice). I'd rather play teams our size and closer to us and not make the playoffs than drive twice as far and get pummeled and not make the playoffs.
  • CCRolly
Serious question. If the down turn in athletic talent continues and Orrville struggles in the PAC....then what?

Lets be honest it usually does not matter for playoff position for Wooster anyway. You are usually far from a playoff spot in week 10.
  • An-Old-Fan
As long as we are being honest. Why would a large D2 school want to schedule a small out of conferences D5 school when they currently play two D1s and a D2?
