Orrville Basketball 2014-15

Series62
Orrville had a 12 point lead, at the opening of the 4th quarter, the coach elected to slow the game by holding/passing the ball and running the clock. Playing half-court ball didn't get him the lead nor did it maintain it, the coach/coaches should have recognized that and adjusted, they didn't, they lost.Old Rider;1712675 wrote:Coaching...??? Orrville is a power house in baseball with all those athletes you speak of...LOL!Red Rider Nation;1712971 wrote:Actually a lot of athletes still walk the halls at Orrville they just don't play football and who can blame them? The good ones now are on the baseball team and for good reason. Scott Marshall is one hell of a coach. Their weight training program is better than the football team's.
Switching conferences won't fix your football situation until you all come to grips with a change being needed. What it will do for you though is allow you to spend less gas money to see them lose at least those of you on here that actually go to the games! -

I heard Orrville baseball may not even have a JV team this year.Red Rider Nation;1712971 wrote:Actually a lot of athletes still walk the halls at Orrville they just don't play football and who can blame them? CCRollyThat's DeVaults fault...duh! : thumbup:
-
Red Rider NationI don't care if they have a JV team-Scott takes his kids to state!
CC let me guess you have some story where Wooster baseball was just dominating Orrville in some inning or some game?? -
Red Rider Nation
No but I do have good news for Doug: he was at the state semifinal baseball game last year in Columbus so he at least experienced what it's like to get there although he will never experience it in footballCCRolly;1713412 wrote:That's DeVaults fault...duh! : thumbup: -

Coach_08Correct, Orrville will have no JV baseball team this year. Orrville baseball was great over the last few years because they had great athletes, that most specialized in baseball. Marshall a great coach???Something I always look at is how good is the junior high and youth programs at schools (feeder program) being taught at those levels? How invested is the varsity coaches at those schools that is putting their thumb print on those programs?

Exactly. 100% correct.Coach_08;1715249 wrote:Correct, Orrville will have no JV baseball team this year. He's not the only coach that isn't involved at the youth level....but if you expect to build a program...not just enjoy the ride when a talented class comes through...you have to develop the feeder program. -

Does that mean that Coaches Davault and Slaughter haven't been and aren't involved in their appropriate feeder programs? If not, tsk, tsk, tsk!RedRider1;1715758 wrote:...you have to develop the feeder program. -

I really wish wish you guys didn't live in a shell! Not involved in the youth program?? I coach youth travel baseball in Jackson and we played The Orrville Outlaws last year In Jackson in Fallball on a 40 degree day. Who was there? Coach Marshall. You guys need to get with reality. Scott Marshall is involved and travels to see future players play at a Young level and before you go there no his kid wasn't on the team. I enjoyed talking with him and his commitment to Orrville baseball has paid off. -
Red Rider NationThe best thing about Orrville going to the PAC 7 aka Wayne county athletic league is no longer will your excuses of getting beat by bigger schools actually work! 1-9 or 2-8 in that conference and hopefully you will all wake up. Change is needed and most if you know it and I know I have had conversations with a lot of you not on this site who have agreed with me. I won't embarrass you by saying which ones of you but you know who you are. I specifically remember a conversation with someone on here that has somewhere around 3722 posts that agreed that Davault is bad! We were in Mansfield getting ready for the Kenton/ Columbus Bishop Hartley playoff game and I wasn't the only one who heard it. That's ok though.

Both are involved with the Boys Club for the respective sports they coach in terms of planning and working with those that run the league.Series62;1715901 wrote:Does that mean that Coaches Davault and Slaughter haven't been and aren't involved in their appropriate feeder programs? Old RiderI don't think Marshall's boys even play in the Orrville youth leagues...thats his own feeder program yet he doesn't put his own kids in it??

You're not embarrassing me. Go ahead and mention me by name any time you want...no need for games. I think we saw each other at the restaurant/bar right near Arlin Field. I talked with a guy from Kenton more than I did you (if at all).....if we spoke it was briefly and never did I mention anything about Davault needing to go or being bad or whatever other words you want to put in my mouth.Red Rider Nation;1715921 wrote:The best thing about Orrville going to the PAC 7 aka Wayne county athletic league is no longer will your excuses of getting beat by bigger schools actually work! 1-9 or 2-8 in that conference and hopefully you will all wake up. How'd that petition to fire Davault come out anyway....did you turn in all those fake signatures to the Booster Club yet? They're waiting to take action based on all these Rider fans hiding in the shadows that don't like this coach.
How many times did Daffy Duck & Fred Flintstone sign it? -

Unfortunately for him the well of recent talent has run a bit dry. They will struggle this year...badly! Talent makes every coach look good! It made Mo, Mac, Smitty, Shanklin, Remenaric, Mosely, Slaughter, Bardall, Alberts, and Marshall all look good on more than one occasion.Red Rider Nation;1715919 wrote:I enjoyed talking with him and his commitment to Orrville baseball has paid off. -

CCRollyIf any Alma Mater could disown one of their own...it would be RRN's. You stupid bro?

sanitizerIt takes all different kinds of people to make anything work. although I may not totally agree with many things RRN says, can't argue the man's passion. A more committed sports fan may not be found.
I feel like Varsity coaches should be involved in all levels of feeder programs.... Each level of the program should have some basic guidelines of what they want the kids to know by the time they get to the next level. Pretty simple, had this conversation with a few Medina coaches recently that was difficult. They tried to talk me into letting my 6 year old play in the tackle program the upcoming year. They bragged about the feeder program? I said I did not want to offend them but since I have lived in town they have had one winning season? Almost 3 thousand kids in the school??? Saw 13 coaches coaching 13 different ways of doing the SAME THING in a couple of the tackle teams practices I was within earshot of.
Pretty important in my book..... LOVED having the varsity kids coaching at the club too! That was really neat.
