wes_mantoothI unapproved a post for bad language.
And no, there is nothing wrong with a little tongue n cheek stereotyping joke -
PariahNeil Gingerich was the kid who lost playing time when Seger came last year. He was also the biggest beneficiary because Seger worked with him on his post offense, and Neil will show himself to be a complete post player this year. I think Mark will put Seger more out on the perimeter (similar role to Noah Boyd last year) but he will rotate into the paint in certain sets. With Seger and Dylan on the outside and drawing a lot of defensive attention, Neil will be down there in the paint, and all that put together will put a ton of pressure on defenses to pick their poison. Jason Miller will have an outstanding season at the point. Depth and role players will be the question for the Hawks. Also, how bad do they want to win another one?
I think WH is primed to show great strides in their program. Hiland will have too much this year, but the Knights are building something good. Future is bright. -

Thank you for clarifying. I disagree however. The comment is racist that he made.wes_mantooth;982350 wrote:I unapproved a post for bad language.

But to 300, yes we have kids that wear their hat to the side and sag their pants, as I am sure Holmes County has as well. I guess the difference in Orrville is that those same kids that sag their pants and turn their hats are also hanging banners in our gymnasium for their performance on the field of play! -
ts1227It was stereotypical and ignorant, not racist.

I understand. But go to any town in the United States with an African American population and use the word "thug" loud enough and in front of a person's face (if you have the balls) and see what happens. Same can be said here in Orrville...it wouldn't go over too well!!!ts1227;982579 wrote:It was stereotypical and ignorant, not racist. -
Mr. 300Dude, the amish joke was simply that, a joke. This site is all about having a good time without taking things too seriously. The whole amish beard cutter scenario is playing out so much that I'd figured you would get it, but I was mistaken. It was done on the OC, not on the streets. Don't take this as a real life experience, capice? Busting chops is all in jest on here. The web is a serious thing evidently.
Carry on. -
PariahI got to see Hiland scrimmage Mt. Vernon tonight. The Hawks appear to be who I thought they would be.

My son plays Jr High basketball and they had a scrimmage in the old gym. I went downstairs to check out the varsity for a little bit. They looked good. Shot the ball well and some nice high low looks inside. A lot of weapons on offense. Defense needs some work but that will come around.Pariah;982853 wrote:I got to see Hiland scrimmage Mt. Mt Vernon has a pretty nice team. Some good outside shooters and their post player was very quick when he got his hands on the ball in the paint. -
HesstonI saw on that other forum that Malverns Tucci has a football injury (elbow) and will miss the first few weeks of the season........

I agree. The offense has just a ridiculous amount of weapons. They did go through a stretch where they didn't score and they were shooting a lot of jumpers/3's. When they hit a rough spot, they need to be smart and use their size to go inside. They also had one game where they seemed bored and lost focus and intensity, especially on defense.majorspark;983208 wrote:My son plays Jr High basketball and they had a scrimmage in the old gym. To Old Rider: As someone who has tangled with 300 - and have the scars to prove it - I can tell you that you are just playing into his internet fun. All this banter is doing nothing but encouraging him. Stop! I guarantee you he is not taking it serious. You shouldn't either. -

I know! Dealt with it before from him as well. Just didn't care for the one comment he made..Pariah;983731 wrote:I agree. The offense has just a ridiculous amount of weapons. Baller4evaBasketball in Holmes County is really stepping up in the boys programs. Should be some very good matchups in the coming years between Hiland and West Holmes.
-
ricolaHiland boys looked pretty good in the alumni game over the weekend. But a real downer with Burch's knee injury. Too soon to know how bad things are; praying for the best and a speedy recovery!
But if he misses any time---let alone the possibility of extended time---he would be sorely missed!! He was the fastest player on the floor and basically got to the hoop whenever he wanted.
Keep him/family in your prayers. -
Pariah+1 to Ricola's post.
I was asking another guy, "Have you ever seen a better overall athlete?" and the knee buckled and that was that. It didn't look good. An ACL will take him out of basketball and baseball season. Luke would have been drafted or would have D1 college offers in baseball. He still has those opportunities, but it will depend on his rehab. Makes me sick to my stomach.
He would have been, at a minimum, a valuable 6th man on the basketball team. It's a big loss.
I, too, hope it's not that bad, but what I saw looked bad. -
tfloangelThat happen in the second half?? We left at half-time, and I was wondering why one of the asst. coaches was so quiet Sunday morning.
-
tfloangelbtw, Burch has already signed with Ashland, P.
-
PariahYep. Second half.
I didn't know he had signed already. Missed that one. Well, good for him.
BTW, your cuz looked pretty good out there the other night. I saw glimpes of past glory. -
hiland78Any update on Luke?
-
ricolanone yet
-
hiland78Wishing him all the best. We sit directly behind his parents at the games. I have been to many hundreds (thousands?) of games over the years and I have never seen anyone quicker from one end of the floor to the other with purpose. I hope we get him back soon.
