thePITmanI have updated my web site for the conclusion of the DIII Wooster District:
http://www.ohiobasketball.net/wooster/
Another successful year, and thank you to everyone for your help! -
RedRider1Awesome work as always, Pit. A great resource for Wayne Co. basketball fans.

wcalfanAny updates on who is interested?

RRRockI actually was wondering myself. I do know some Waynedale people which I am sure others do as well on here that may have an idea on this. I know 4Ringz is a wrestling fan but he does know people down in that neck of the woods. Who ever it is well be taking over a program that has been down over the last few years, I think they were like 8-34 over the last two years? I would just look through the county at the JV and freshmen coaches that have coached for more than 3-4 years b/c I am sure they want someone with some obvious coaching experience and see who may be looking(and be a school teacher)? I do not follow the freshmen and JV teams that close in the area so maybe someone with some expertise in that area would help. I do have a few friends that may know about this topic so I will check with them on some names. Maybe Pittman, RedRider, QB or Riders 1 have some ideas??
-
thePITmanSomeone on another site mentioned former Fairless and Canton South coach Kramer as a possibility, with some connections he has with the Waynedale principal or something like that (I don't really know for sure). I sure hope this doesn't happen. Everywhere he goes he seems to burn his bridges and leave with nobody liking him. (This is all assuming if the rumors are true that he's been ousted as Canton South's coach.) From Fairless to Canton South to Waynedale... seems like an odd path of "progression". Haha.
-
wcalfanThere is no way that the Waynedale administration, especially the AD, will ever let him coach at Waynedale. Too much drama with that guy.
-
RRRockHere are some other names, feel free to add or subtract these names from the list but a couple of friends helped me come up with this list (they follow area boys basketball a lot around this area).
Chad Bever- Wooster JV coach (come in 2nd place for the Chippewa job last year)
Steve Watkins- Norwayne JV coach
Dustin Geitgey and/or Tyler Renner- West Holmes JV and varsity assistant coaches
Brett Imhoff- Northwestern JV coach
Chad Spurlock- Orrville Freshmen coach (was an assistant at Waynedale before coming to Orrville)
Patrick Mitchell- Waynedale JV coach
Nichols- Hillsdale JV coach
Daniles- Ashland assistant coach
Barkman- Waynedale assistant for 5-6 years, did not coach last year thu, and I do not think he is a teacher?
That is all we have come up with as far as the area teams but I am sure there will be others from outside of Wayne/Holmes county applying (NOT SAYING ANY OF THESE GUYS DID APPLY). Any thoughts on these guys? -
BRFI have a thought. This thread has been hijacked!
(But it's still kinda interesting to read in this down time! . )
Hey, the Tribe got a triple play in their win today. -

Hey, the Tribe got a triple play in their win today.
The attendance of 8,726 was the lowest for a game at Progressive Field, which opened in 1994. It was 1,127 fewer than the previous low on Saturday.
Record crowd sees triple play, of course it will be like the Len Barker game where 40,000 people will claim they were there -
RRRockThis is basketball talk not tribe baseball, the tribe needs its own thread all together LOL!
BRF you are a Orrville guy so maybe you do not really care about the WCL but at least it gives us something to talk about. Since you are from Orrville any insight on the OCC coaches mentioned, especially coach Spurlock since he is from your school? -

I was just having some fun, but seriously, next time I see Spurlock I will ask him. He's a good guy in BRF's humble opinion! -
Old RiderSpurlock has applied and holds a teaching certificate in the area specific to the teaching opening as well.
-
RedRider1^^Would hate to lose him from the Orrville program, but can't deny a guy an opportunity to land a full-time teaching gig AND a head coach position.
Hope he gets a serious look. -
RRRockOkay thanks for the information Old Rider, sounds like coach Spurlock could have a legit shot. Like I said before do not follow the freshmen and JV teams that close, sounds like he has been good for your program. I was also told that the Ashland coach Daniles had applied do not know if he is the JV coach?

Talked to Coach Spurlock today and affirm what Old Rider is saying.....not that I doubted it! . He affirmed to me what RR1 commented on, too. Best wishes from your pal, BRF, Coach! -
BRFOne more thing to RRRock: your name must have faked me out because I figured it stood for something like Red Rider's Rock, but I am guessing that is not the case. So who is your team...or teams?
-
RRRock^^I can see where you may have thought that but no the RR is the start of my first name and the second R is for Rockets (Toledo where I went to college). I went to Dalton but I follow all the area sports. I do not just go to Dalton games, I try to go to the games each week where I think will be the best to watch that week. I watched Orrville a few times this year and followed them in the tourny. So I am sure the time at Orrville for coach Spurlock was very beneficial for him. By the way thanks for confirming what Old Rider said about coach Spurlock.

Old Rider
RRRock...cmon now. You were doubting me? Then needed a BRF confirmation for validity to what I say?RRRock;733767 wrote:By the way thanks for confirming what Old Rider said about coach Spurlock.
...I see where I stand now! LOL
Spurlock is a good friend of mine and I hope it all works out for him. I know he really would hate to leave Orrville, but I know that doing whats best for his family is priority #1. -

Where you stand is way up high, IMO....with no LOL!
RRRock: thanks for the explanation. -
Mr. RussellJust a quick note for the die-hard area basketball fans:
This weekend a ton of the area's best boys players will be playing at Orrville in an AAU tournament. Everyone from 4th-JR/SR. Coaching an 8th grade team I know that age group is especially populated with local talent, a couple guys who will get major varsity time next year. Talking to the tournament director today, he needed a site with at least four quality gyms. I told him to check with Coach Slaughter and what do you know? A great tournament in Orrville in this weekend. -
THE4RINGZI worked as a score keeper two weeks ago at Tue Triway AAU shoot-out. Over 100 really nice teams. If you get a chance to watch the 7th grade team called "Matrix" check them out. They are fun to watch.

Brandt Danals has applied for the position I believe. He is the current Ashland JV coach. Prior to that he served as an assistant coach at Ashland University for one season. He played college ball at AU and is from Loudonville. I also believe he has a teaching degree -
RRRock^^ Thanks Loudonville05, so that looks like 2 on the list that applied, I was told that Barkman former Waynedale coach is not interested at this time. Also Old Rider did not doubt you, was just saying after BRF had confirmed what you had said seemed to make it totally legit. And that you are friends with him I guess you may find out before any of us if, and/or when he gets an interview.
-
wcalfanAccording to another forum site, there may be some big news coming out of Waynedale soon. Not sure what, but sounds like we may be a little surprised. Anyone have some inside info?
-
RRRockI am hearing that Riebe the old coach and current AD is coming back to take over might be announced tomorrow??
