Palmer Fest

Actually I'm almost 30 and a CPA. While Palmerfest is the largest spring festival it's comparable to High Fest Mill Fest and all the other fests during spring quarter. The other Fests are attended by the same drunk kids and are allowed to die down on their own. The results of letting the parties die down on their own, zero incidents of violence between cops and students. A good portion of the students clear out by 1am. They make their way to either the bars, their apartments/dorms, or to the after party. The areas where the Fest take place are 99.9% student housing.

It was proven this year that if anything serious took place the students would allow safety crews to get to where they needed. The cops could shut down the parties in a much better way. The answer is not lining up horse to horse and pushing the students off of the street and then pepper spraying anyone remaining including the students who live on the street and are trying to get into their own homes.

To understand the culture at OU you have to have attended. The students love to party and have a good time but they also are for the most part peaceful drunks. The students watch out for each other. The people that are arrested at OU during these types of parties are usually not Ohio University students.

Then apparently the students arent very good at being safe by inviting people who get out of control and not being able to control the people they invite.

    2012:
Thirty-five people -- 13 were Ohio University students -- were arrested by Athens police for alcohol-related violations last night or early this morning.
    2011:
University and city police officers arrested 15 OU students over the weekend, six Ohio State University students and five University of Cincinnati students.
Of the remaining 17 arrested, nine were from other universities, six were not students, one was a high school student and one refused to answer.
    2010:
Ten of this year's city police arrestees were Ohio University students ...(out of 30)...

Interesting. All my friends and I also had the time of our lives there, and are all now killin' it. Just goes to show I guess.....

You should have made better, more potentially successful friends.

My son graduated from OU last year. All of his friends are either gainfully employed or in graduate schools (MBA, Law, Medical, etc) of some sort.

I should have put friends in quotation marks. I don't associate myself with people who went to garbage school like OU.

And I stand by my comments. I don't know of anyone graduating from OU that is employed in a field outside of the restaurant business.

Sorry that all your "acquaintances" are stupid.

Most of the guys I know of who graduated from tOSU are getting paid in pseudoephedrine.

Every single one of your kid's friends are successfully employed or in post-graduate school? Wow, your son and his friends are the one group that is the exception amongst college grads these days.

I think that is the official currency of Ohio (though it may be meth).

There are some idiots at OSU, there is no doubt. But its a signaling function. A OSU degree is 100x more marketable than a tier 3 school at best. Enjoy!

Yeah, it's a definite lie. I know even some OSU grads that don't have jobs. The difference is, I know ZERO, count 'em ZERO OU grads with a job outside of a restaurant. I'd be willing to bet, adjusted for school size of course, that far more OU grads are unemployed or underemployed than OSU grads, it wouldn't even be close. OU is one of the worst schools in the country; almost on the the SEC schools level outside of Vandy.

Way to backtrack....but that is your MO.

BTW, aren't you in the resturant business....or did you make that up too??

    Irony is a bitch, cometimes.

Let's see something other than your opinion to back this up.

I own a piece of a McDonald's franchise. I suppose, technically, I am in the restaurant business but I don't actually work for a restaurant. I have a desk job like most successful OSU graduates.

I don't see how that's backtracking. Friends is a loosely defined word anyway. I certainly do not care for any OU grads nor would I ever hire one.

I can prove it no more than than you can. I don't put much weight into rankings, but OU isn't even on the map. They have a journalism school that everyone raves about but honestly journalism is a joke a major anyway.

If OSU ever touted its journalism school as being its premier school, I would turn my degree in and find another B1G school to get a degree from.

Those statistics are so f'd up anyway it would be impossible to prove anything.

Also, I don't put much weight into rankings but this site has OU rated as #124. Like I said not even on the map.

    Yep, just what I thought.

No specific statistics to back up your opinions.

So they are just that...your opinion.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

The new graduate unemployment rate for Journalism majors is lower than 11 of 15 commonly measured categories, according to a recent study by Georgetown. Just sayin.

It's because they don't exist. Schools aren't posting the information, and those that do are probably lying about the data.

We do have access to their recent freshman class academic profiles. If you'd like to make the stretch that those with lower grads are more likely to receive a job after graduation than those with higher grades, I'd love to see your evidence. Otherwise, common sense will dictate that OSU is churning out more employed students at a far greater rate than OU.

Here is my evidence, I'd love to see yours:
