Wasn't it jordo who had a post basically blasting anyone who just roots for a player and not a team? Not sure where it was, but I know it was about SQ. -

Don't remember but if it was, it was probably his best post ever. -

Yeah, but you're married to him, Elizabeth. -

I think it was an ultimate goal but everything had to come together just right for it to happen. Besides, people seem to ignore the fact that Lebron was trying to get Bosh to go to Cleveland but when Bosh went to Miami, that is when the Miami rumors heated up. If this was some ultimate plan, people would have caught onto it earlier instead of the "Lebron to the Knicks" stories we heard all last season. -

Yeah because a kid on the other side of the country rooting for Peyton Manning is quite a bit different than somebody growing up near Lebron and still rooting for Lebron. I mean many of us saw Lebron play when he was only 15 or 16 years old. Is it really that strange for people to be a fan of someone they grew up watching? -

Not quite entirely true...I don't know about the whole collusion since the Olympics thing but I wouldn't be surprised. I do know that the Cavs had a sign and trade deal in place for Bosh that Toronto had approved. Bosh didn't agree to it because he didn't know if LeBron was staying, whereas he knew Wade was re-signing. Had LeBron stayed I'm guessing Bosh would most likely be in Cleveland right now (which wouldn't necessarily have been a great thing). Same thing happened when the Cavs were close to signing Trevor Ariza the offseason before, no confidence that LeBron was staying.
It's certainly not unreasonable to think that LeBron never really wanted to stay in Cleveland, especially given his comments and the fact that when he signed his post-rookie extension he purposely took the smaller contract to be a free agent in 2010. Honestly LeBron's best basketball move probably would've been going to the Bulls with Wade or Bosh. Now THAT would've been a hell of a team. -

Sorry..I was brought up to root for the name on the FRONT of the jersey, not the BACK. Once they're gone they are the enemy. Kind of the "you're either WITH us or AGAINST us" mentality. I root for teams more than players. I may like players but if they go play for a rival I couldn't give a shit about them. -

And it was this indecision that fucked the Cavs. Lebron signed that 3 year deal (shockingly, so did Bosh & Wade) which left the Cavs chasing their tails. Instead of building for the future they had to wheel & deal to try to create a championship so he doesn't bolt. FA's won't commit because he won't hint to what he's doing and then he basically says "you guys, that I hand picked/approved aren't good enough" and bolts leaving the front office to take the fall. -

I get that, but you seem to be a major fan of pro sports only for the most part, while I follow college sports a lot more. Therefore, even though he will be playing for the Steelers, I have a hard time not hoping Cameron Heyward does well because he was a Buckeye and did us proud while there. Same thing for Lebron, I was a Cavs fan before Lebron and a Lebron fan before he was with the Cavs, I can't help but to hope Lebron does well.
I mean it is just a form of entertainment. If somebody wants to cheer for a certain team or player, why is it a big deal to anybody else? Yeah it is fun to give somebody crap for cheering for the Yankees or the Celtics, especially if they have no other reason to cheer for them except that they are good, but at the end of the day, it really isn't very important who somebody else cheers for and for what reasons. -

Yes Lebron could have committed and said that he was staying in Cleveland, but that was ok with everybody else before he left. Besides, we are attributing the lack of free agents to Lebron only, when we are leaving out of the single biggest reason free agents don't want to come to Cleveland, the city itself. Yes it gets a bad rep and the crappiness of the city is overstated, but it is not a destination for top free agents in any sport. -
Automatiklol....the NBA thread has now become another LeBron bitch fest.
You fuckers just repeat the same shit over and over and over. I've been hearing this all year yet you're just regurgitating. Cleveland fans as usual look butthurt, while LeBron fans look like nutswingers.
I thought LeBron's apology was a good move until he said something like "I love my teammates, but couldn't do it alone."
Basically...."you guys are cool to hang out with, but fuck off....you're not good enough." I find his massive ego comical, but I was glad to see him close it out last night.
As for OKC/Memphis series. I'd thought Memphis had a chance, but its dwindling. If Randolph plays the same as last game they are fucked. I've been rather impressed by Gasol's play. He plays with balls....big bro should take notes. -
HereticY-Town Steelhound;766310 wrote:I'm sorry, I was unaware triple double meant automatic victory. Hell LeBron had a triple double against the Cavs this year and LOST. Keep pretending that those 9 turnovers didn't make a difference.
And 38 percent shooting from the field. That's the kind of thing that people'd rag on Kobe for all the time. 20+ points is good. Taking 21 shots from the field to get them probably could be better. He had a great game on the boards, but the assist/TO ratio and the volume shooting to get his points both were lacking in what a team needs to win. Obviously, a big part of the equation was that other players didn't step up to take the load off him, but it still wasn't the best way he could have gone out. -

It was true though. Look at how bad the Cavs were this year without Lebron. Besides, that was not near as bad as Kobe demanding a trade unless they surrounded him with better players. Not that you say this at all, but I always hear the "Kobe would never do that to his team" when he was basically trying to get out of LA, which is obviously a much more desirable city and franchise than Cleveland, throwing his own teammates under the bus( they were pretty bad) while quitting in the playoffs against the Suns. Yet he just lucked out and got a great trade to get Gasol and now it's as if Kobe didn't go through the same issues as Lebron and would never pull the actions that Lebron pulled when he was doing the same thing. -

He played poorly but he didn't quite that game. Kobe quit against the Suns and did not seem to be going all out against the Mavs this week but everybody forgets those instances. Not to mention, where is the backlash for Paul Pierce and KG leaving the floor without shaking hands last night? Lebron did that and he was ripped apart. -

Bryant decided to weather the storm in Los Angeles and will end his career as a Laker, while James jumped ship to a team which many feel is tailored to compete for titles. The Gasol trade happened half way thru the NEXT season, after Bynum got hurt and the lakers were sitting in 1st place. There was no orchstrated trade involving superstars Gasol just fell into the lakers lap.
Bryant will always be remembered as a legend in Los Angeles as the leader of his Lakers' team, but if the Heat should go on to win multiple titles, who will be remembered as the leader of theirs? -

But it was LEBRON who hand picked them. He has NOBODY to bitch at but HIMSELF.elbuckeye28;766462 wrote:It was true though. Look at how bad the Cavs were this year without Lebron. Personally, I don't think he quit in that game. Game 5 seemed like a different story just because he was so inexplicably horrible there, but I thought he was putting forth effort in Game 6. I just don't think it was the super "he put the team on his back doh" effort SQ makes it out to be, as he did a lot of things wrong to go with the things he did right. Like a good effort from a superstar, but not a "take it up a notch" game that I think fans grow to expect from elite players in crunch time situations. -
