rydawg5two thumbs up!
-
Gobuckeyes1Partaking in a Sam Adams Boston Lager as I type this...
not my favorite beer, but good nonetheless. -
O-TrapYou know, I've noticed oatmeal stouts catching in popularity lately. I've been enjoying them for quite some time, and I'm happy to see it catching on.
Try to find a breakfast stout. THOSE are fantastic. -
gerb131Just crushed a 4 of Sam Double Bock after 10hrs and I feel greeeaaattt. It's nearing bedtime whenever the old lady shuts off that damn shower.
-
BORIStheCrusherHighly recommend Founders Breakfast Stout. Should still be on the shelves, but it's a seasonal beer so it won't be around much longer.
-
gorocks99Liking the new Sam's seasonal, the Noble Pils:

Gblockwent to a sam adams beer tasting over the summer at the lazy chameleon....it was a great time and a good deal. it was fifteen bucks and you got to try 7 types of beer that each came with a small appetizer.

vdubb96Noble pils is very tastey!!!
If you want a certified bad ass Oatmeal Stout then there is no better in my opinion than Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout!!! MY GOD! -
gorocks99The other couple that I'm loving right now:

i just had three philosophers, i had mix feelings towards, i thought the cherry was a little over powering. -
gorocks99Yeah, the cherry-ness comes through but I don't think it's too sweet or tart or anything. It's generally a pretty consistent beer, if I'm out looking for a belgian, don't know what to get, the Three Phils is a mainstay.
The second one I posted you probably can't get in Ohio (I think it only reaches Pennsylvania now) but it's way sweeter. -
spartani still prefer chimay grand reserve, ill look for it next time im in boston.

+1, one of my favorites.spartan wrote: i still prefer chimay grand reserve -
gorocks99Make sure you go to the Publick House the next time you're in Beantown, they have one hell of a belgian selection:

Try any Trappist Rochefort or St. Bernardus beers if you like belgians.gorocks99 wrote: if I'm out looking for a belgian, don't know what to get, the Three Phils is a mainstay. -

thanks, we usually hit up the same places (mother anna's and mikes pastry) (i was there this weekend). how far is that place from quincy?gorocks99 wrote: Make sure you go to the Publick House the next time you're in Beantown, they have one hell of a belgian selection:

gorocks99It's in Brookline, not really all that much farther from Quincy than the North End. You could drive there in about the same amount of time, or if you're taking public transportation it's out on the Green Line about 15-20 minutes from downtown.
P.S. I prefer Modern to Mike's ... funny that you head to the North End all the time, I live up there on North St, a block away from Hanover. Nice neighborhood, bitch to park. -
Con_AlmaI love oatmeal. I eat it more than any other food in the morning. I don't know if I would appreciate it in a stout.
I'll have to give this a try. -

Actually, Samuel Smith's was my least favorite oatmeal stout. Having said that, it's also cheaper, and by "least favorite," I mean it's still pretty darn good.vdubb96 wrote: Noble pils is very tastey!!!

I have to admit I've not tried the latter. However, I'm a big fan of the Three Philosophers.gorocks99 wrote: The other couple that I'm loving right now:

Red Sky At Night, from Heavy Seas' Pyrate Fleet:
Terrific Belgian Saison. -
gorocks99Clipper City Brewing, if I'm not mistaken? Great stuff. I really enjoy their Uber Pils (Small Craft Warning)
-
O-TrapCorrect,gorocks. This kid knows his good beer.
Regarding, SCW, that's the other one I really like from them.
I must say, however, that I was disappointed with their imperial stout (Peg Leg). Other than that, though, they're solid. -
vdubb96O-trap what do you think about Sam Smith's Nut brown ale??? That too is a fav. of mine. I'm actually really on a wheat beer kick right now. Any suggestions??
-
O-TrapWhat do I think of it?
It's not terrible. Samuel Smith's is generally going to give you a half-way decent beer at a good price.
Best brown ale I've had was Moose Drool. -
vdubb96My problem is I've got to really search for different brews. Their isn't a good store around me with a good diverse selection. I've got to drive 35 minutes or more to find a store with a half ass selection!!
