oatmeal stout beer..

O-TrapOuch. Luckily, I live near Cuyahoga Falls, whose Acme has a fantastic selection.

THIS... I was VERY disappointed with it too. Luckly is was a sample at the Cincy Beerfest and I didn't buy a 6 pack of it to find out. I actually poured it out, the only one I did all night.O-Trap wrote:
I must say, however, that I was disappointed with their imperial stout (Peg Leg). Other than that, though, they're solid.
Love the Founders Breakfast Stout, I have a stash of a few of them dating back to 2005. I gotta see if I can find the Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout. -
gorocks99Apparently you can get Harpoon in Ohio now -- any thoughts on their selection, specifically the Leviathan series? I'm in love with their Imperial IPA.

Harpoon has been in Toledo for a while, not too crazy about their beers.gorocks99 wrote: Apparently you can get Harpoon in Ohio now -- any thoughts on their selection, specifically the Leviathan series? I'm in love with their Imperial IPA. -
gorocks99Most of their stuff is pretty generic (although their IPA is an OK choice) but the Leviathan series is bliss.
-
O-TrapTheir IPA is all I've had from them. Not bad, but I'd go for Dogfishhead's 120 Minute IPA over theirs.
-
BORIStheCrusherI've seen the Leviathan beers but just haven't tried any yet, guess I never saw a reason to pick any up because of their regular lineup. I may have to check them out.
-
gorocks99The Imperial is for hop heads, I think the IBU's are around 120 or so (about the same as the Dogfish Head 120 minute I think)

Yes, they've been in my area since 2005 at least. I like their UFO. I'll have to check out their Leviathon beers.gorocks99 wrote: Apparently you can get Harpoon in Ohio now -- any thoughts on their selection, specifically the Leviathan series? I'm in love with their Imperial IPA. -

Love me some Dogfish! But I stick with 60 minute.gorocks99 wrote: The Imperial is for hop heads, I think the IBU's are around 120 or so (about the same as the Dogfish Head 120 minute I think)
Possibly the greatest Stout (ever) is made not very far from Ohio in Munster, Indiana.
Three Floyds Oak Aged Dark Lord Russian Imperial Stout

(edit) I also know they have a nice little stash of Thomas Hardy's ale, anywhere from 2004-2008. -

You may be able to get hold of one from the net, if not a store with "connections" I'd say. -
Curly JAnother decent Oatmeal Stout is Oat from Southern Tier. It comes in bombers. Of course anything from their Blackwater Series is AWESOME !!!
The best beer I've ever tried is Westvleteren 12. Just had a couple of sips with a freind that shared it with me and The Wife...I couldn't get over the aroma. I remember wishing they made an air freshiner of it. Nice Belgium stuff. (had some nice 'funk' smell to it that I liked) Tasted wonderful.
I guess my most prized beer I have on hand is Alesmith Decadence. 10th anniversary ale and it's been ageing since 2005. Not sure when to pop the top on that. -

justcompeteI really like Sam Smith's. First tried it doing the Beer Tour at Winking Lizard. Looks like I need to try some others.

Curly JBORIS, The Wife just found some Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout. She was so exceited that she called tell me. Looks like I'm going to have a bottle or 2 when I get home tonight. Hope it's not too addicting as it was about $22.00 a 4 pack.
