Do you tip?

    Tell your brother that I bet he makes more than $2.13 an hour. It might have gone up some, but that's what waiter wages was when I watied tables about 10 years ago (regular min wage was $5.25 then).

    Waiters basically only make tips as their hourly wage gets eaten up completely by taxes since they have to pay taxes on tips.

    Delivery guys, thats even worse not to tip in my mind, the guy just wasted his gas in his car (wear and tear?) to bring you food.
    Yeah, trust me bro I told him how stupid it was lol.

    Pizza guy is my dude so I tip him well, everybody else ie.. mailman and good servers get a good 10bucks on the minimum.

    I tip between 10% and 20% if really good. But all you people bitching about tipping really gets on my nerves. I worked at Dicks Sporting Goods making $6.50 an hour when I was in college. So cry me a river about coming home with $100 cash after a 6 hour shift.

    There's only been once that I haven't tipped a pizza delivery guy and that's because there was a $2.00 delivery charge and I knew 100% of that went to the driver and that's what I would have tipped anyway. I know that at most places the driver doesn't get the delivery charge, but at this place it was basically an automatic gratuity, so I guess I did tip.

    The pizza place where I work PT pay their drivers just as much as insiders, but that's only because otherwise we wouldn't have drivers. Our delivery charge is $2 and the drivers get 80 cents of it. Many of our drivers complain about taking a $14.99 delivery and getting $15, and the customer waits for the penny back. It comes with the area I guess. Our drivers have been robbed on several occasions, and just recently one was shot in the leg. Needless to say our drivers take tips when they can get them. On a given night a driver where I work can take home $100, the next night they may only get enough to cover gas.

    I would call myself a lazy tipper for the most part. When I go out I shell out a couple bucks until I feel like I gave enough. It's always over 20% though. There is a restaurant I frequent and since they know me and always give me good service I generally tip them generously.

    I guess it also depends on how packed the place is. If it's empty I will probably give a couple more dollars because I feel bad that they are not make much money.

    I am calling BS on many of the big tippers.... (Internet big shots) LOL Not all of course...
    I suppose not too many people will admit they are too tight to tip properly. I have just been around too many gator armed people in my life whose arms are so short they can not reach in their pockets. So tight.

    The difference is, that night they got $100 cash is not the "norm".

    There were plenty of days that you might work 6 hrs and be lucky to come home with $15 cash...not every night is Friday/Saturday night...many are slow.

    Also, I've worked "retail" like a Dick's (I worked at Blockbuster Video in HS), and I worked as a waiter in college. I also filled in as a pizza delivery guy the nights I didn't wait tables.

    Trust me, retail, a place like Blockbuster and Dick's is MUCH easier than waiting tables.

    Deliverying pizza is extremely easy, and I only believe they should be tipped for wear and tear on their car and gas.

    I would agree, other than it's not a particularly safe job.

    Waiters even after the minimum wage hike are still at 2.13/hr.

    Hey Krambman.

    That 2.00 delivery charge goes toward gas/wear & tear on the vehicle.

    The tip goes to the driver to show appreciation for them getting your food to you in a timely fashion.

    You may not wanna order often from the same place because this will catch up with you very quickly one way or another.

    The 2.00 per delivery barely covers gas in most cases which really leaves nothing for basic maintenance on the vehicle.

    Some don't realize how much hell pizza delivery is on a car but after doing it 15-16 years i've found out that it's quite rough especially when it's busy and your momentum goes up resulting in some more hardcore driving and bump blasting.

    The driver isn't just out there to make money for gas and maintenance.

    Yeah, several drivers still make minimum wage on top of everything else but that shouldn't have to go towards gas, vehicle maintenance or your efforts getting food to someone quickly.
