Is anyone a Moose?
-
LJYou know like Loyal Order of the Moose....
I want some info on joining but I can't find much on the website. Also what is the difference between a chapter, lodge and family center?
You can PM me if this info isn't supposed to be public or something. -
THE4RINGZI am hung like a moose. Does that count?
-
LJNot for what I was interested in... thanks though

THE4RINGZSeems like a good fraternal organization. They have a lot of social events. I am sure most of the money they raise goes to some sort of charity.
The Lodge here where I live seems like it would be a cool place to hang out. They have steak frys and and a pretty decent bar.
Are you joining or getting a social membership? Because I believe there is a difference. -

Best place to find info on the Moose is a nursing home since back in the day all those old dudes belong to a club of some sort.LJ wrote: You know like Loyal Order of the Moose....

Difference between the chapter, lodge, and family center is:
Chapter- A designated area that includes multiple lodges just like a conference in football being comprised of multiple teams representing one specific area.
Lodge- Where the good stuff takes place. Only members of the Moose are allowed. Where secret plots, Beer drinking, and "Man" time happen.
Family Center- A place you can take the family just like all the Moose members to goof off as well as wear and show off you grand-poo-bah hat. -

I dunno, I am just starting the process of looking into joining something. I want to join the Columbus Club but my Grandpa says I am not ready yet.THE4RINGZ wrote: Seems like a good fraternal organization. They have a lot of social events. I basically know nothing about it yet but it seems less formal than the Masons -
THE4RINGZI believe there is a Moose Home (retirement home) somewhere in Ohio. If I remember correctly somewhere between CBus and the Nati.

Fab4RunnerI just wish there was a Legion close to me because I already have a membership and have for all of my 25 years. The closest one is 20 minutes away. Sucks.
I might stop in to the Moose just for you LJ. I doubt I will ever actually join. -
THE4RINGZ"Not ready yet"? What are you like 25? I would think the club would welcome some young blood as most of the Moose members I know are 50+ years old. But maybe there is a reason I really don't know.

Ha no. It's all old guys and basically the powerful people of Columbus. Honestly the way he talks I don't think he wants me spending the money on the dues, which I guess is 5 figures per year.sonofsam wrote:

I don't spend a whole lotta time there socially. I'll take the girl to dinner on Fridays and drink a little while. I mostly joined b/c my Grandfather and Father are/were very involved there, and I can only hope to be half the men they are/were.. so I spend most of time volunteering charities that they do. It seems pretty cool socially if you get involved with their leagues and what not, and I've found countless contacts professionally thru the volunteering believe it or not.THE4RINGZ wrote:
