Be NiceI hope your mirror is big enough. Many of your "great" posts have proven your intellect to many.

Ender WigginExcept none of that answers my question, are you kidding me? Talk about only seeing what you want too....christ. People are getting hung up on the higher standard thing here and need to read what was written after that. Here ill make it, hopefully, easier for you to understand....
If you were tasked with fixing something, you wouldn't add to the problem that you were tasked to fix would you?
Also what did I claim was fact that you think was opinion? This is an honest question, I just wanna see if I did in fact do that so I can fix it. -
Heretic
Considering that my last post here did reference a thread you started, I'm guessing that this post just might be partially directed towards me!Be Nice wrote: I hope your mirror is big enough. Many of your "great" posts have proven your intellect to many.
My only response is that I really could not care less what anyone thinks about my intellect due to what I post on a message board where a good 85% of it (if not more) is simply whatever pops into my head after reading something else. When it comes to something like online bantering, I don't take myself all that seriously that often. Which would be a good trait to have...especially when someone disagrees with your claim that your DII school should be ranked in a local poll because they beat a ranked school in a smaller division. -
Upper90Sweet merciful crap.

GOONx19^ Haha, my thoughts exactly.

Mr. 300Ender and intellect in the same sentence are an oxymoron. He proved his intellect when he called some cops pigs.

j_crazyi like that the mods are owning the things they changed. that's all i ask. i don't mind having my hand slapped for going too far, but i want to know who did it, and why exactly it was done (in some cases i already know, but i want the mods to give it anyway).
kudos boys. -

You do know..when someone edits your posts..it says who it's edited by right? Yes, but before, if you asked why something got edited, it was a mystery. Now, the mods are more vocal and interact with everybody. If a question is asked, it always gets answered. Up front and out in the open. I like that.GoChiefs wrote:

Con_AlmaKnowing who edited it doesn't address his point of why something was deemed to warrant being changed. I think that was his point.
Edit....Coyotes beat me to it. -
enigmaaxI didn't read all of this, but I definitely agree with the OP in that the real downfall of society is the fact that moderators on random thousand-member internet message boards are not held to a higher standard than the general population. If there is an ounce of integrity left in this world, we should be seeing a press conference anytime in which the moderators apologize for their failure as role models.

Yeah, but my main point was now it says "Edited for personal attack - Heretic"
whereas before (a la JJ) it would deleted and I'd be gonged with no explanation of what obscure non written rule was broken. -
justincredibleThe protocol I have set for the mods is to send a PM to you if they deem it necessary to edit your post and to also list the reason for the edit in the post itself and "sign" it.

This is why the mods here are the best. (yes, even gochiefs)j_crazy wrote:

CenterBHSFanThe thing to remember, Ender, is that not everything about a site can or will be exactly tailored to meet certain needs or wants or likes. There will always be some things that people wish were different or better. There is no need to continuously point that out because for the most part, people know that.
It all comes down to how far you want to go with it. And, by starting a thread about it, it's obvious that it's something that you feel you cannot let roll off your back, and therefore, you're taking it a bit further than alot of people would.
And, realizing that this site isn't tailored to your specific needs, you've got plenty of choices. Calling things and/or people out is one of them, this I know. However, I think we can all see how that might not be the best route to take. All that does is create a situation where there is endless bickering, people trying to argue their "rightness", repetition, etc.
There will always be somebody out there who will disagree with you. And, further yet, there will be those who try to "out-right" everybody else until it's insipid. You're best avenue is to judge how much you are willing to let it get to you, how much you want to be "right", and how much you are willing to argue a point at the cost of other pursuits. -

Fab1bI just can't believe that people really get their panties all bunched up over banter on an internet message board. I mean really people? Does this site really affect your ability to sleep at night? Does it make you want to beat your spouses after a good internet fight? Look I agree posters are out of control with personal attacks and that includes us Mods but come on are you really taking it that seriously? Do you want a site like JJ's or should freehuddle have it's own identity? Do you want those who oversee the site and the creator of the site having fun, giving it right back, letting people have their say even if it is against a mod, and just having fun? Or do some of you want JJ's? I am sure Justin can instruct the mods to be message boards nazi's if you wish but come on we and you don't want that! Keep this site fun and open. Let it be free for speech, but not all speech is free within reason.

Yes, I have no lifeFab1b wrote:Look I agree posters are out of control with personal attacks and that includes us Mods but come on are you really taking it that seriously?
It should be exactly like JJ, but with people instead of robots, and fair mods and clear rules as opposed to ridiculously blurred rules and over zealous enforcers. So I guess it should be the opposite of JJ.Fab1b wrote:Do you want a site like JJ's or should freehuddle have it's own identity?
This is what I want.Fab1b wrote:Do you want those who oversee the site and the creator of the site having fun, giving it right back, letting people have their say even if it is against a mod, and just having fun?
It's clear some people want that, which is why I'm confused why they just don't pay the $12 and for all intents and purposes, GTFO of FreeHuddle.Fab1b wrote:Or do some of you want JJ's?

Ender WigginI dont really care about whats being said, nothing anyone says on the internet should affect anyone else.
As I said before if mods are the ones tasked with "cleaning things up" then they shouldnt be ones adding to the problem in the first place.
Please tell me whats wrong with that statement. -
Ender WigginOh and Mr 300 before you start saying silly things again, how about answering the question I asked you twice now instead of hiding from it.
What is your opinion of cops that do dishonorable things like Plant evidence, or Tamper with evidence or harass innocent people or abuse their power, or anything akin to that, the cops that dont do the badge on their chest honor, whats your opinion of them?
Try answering that instead of hiding like a little girl and spouting senselessness.
Thanks -
BRFI don't like the posters who just jump all over someone's bones about their opinion with name calling...........just post that you disagree. But I realize that some like to do that, and I am "kinda" accepting of that. BUT, what I don't like, is when that "attackee" responds with acidity, and the original ATTACK-ER, tries to explain that it's "just a message board, and I'm just having fun".
It's a two way street. -
TimberRules:
1. No threats, keep it civilized. You can call someone out for saying something stupid, just don't make it personal.
2. Do not reveal someone's identity. If you want us to know who you are feel free to tell, but give everyone else that freedom as well.
3. Keep it safe for work. That means no nudity, no swearing in thread titles and limiting the swearing as much as possible in posts. Profanity isn't banned but keep it under control.
The only issue I have is with # 1.
No threats... does not seem to be a problem, but keeping it civilized and not making it personal are clearly being neglected. I personally have not had any issues with anybody on this site. I even get a kick out of it sometimes... such as PAMF'ers, but if parts of the rules are going to be ignored... simply remove them from the rules. Then patrons may know what they can expect. I was a little surprised to see the amount of personal attacks that go back and forth, simply because it was against the rules. If you need to change the rules to stay relevant to the site that you want here... change the rules.
I am not calling out current or future mods... I realize it is a near impossible task to monitor these threads, however if the job of a mod is to keep it civilized... it is not working. As mentioned above, if they are going to participate in the back and forth banter, simply eliminate the rule, or parts of rules not being adhered to and ... no problems.
Justin... thank you for putting forth the effort to create a site for people to have fun and talk about the topics they enjoy discussing. I am here primarily for High school/sports info, but I do enjoy the threads in Serious Business and politics as well. Best wishes.
