Someone is getting fired.

  • LJ
So I have my office is a full service office suite. I have a private office but there are tons of other companies in there and we have a support staff available to everyone. Well they have always said just drop mail that needs metered into the mail bucket and they would meter it before it was sent. So I took my gf's thank you letter from her dream job interview to mail with me last monday. I told the person who handles the mail "this is a very important piece of mail, make sure you meter this and get it out". She said "oh yeah that's fine drop it in the bucket".

So fast forward to today and the letter is returned to my gf because they never metered it at the office. So not only is the girl who was handling the mail going to get it bad from me, but I am going to have to call their corporate office and complain.

Anyways, anyone know what my gf should do now?

If there's still time, and she has an email address of the persons she interviewed with, I'd send an email thank you letter.

She sent an email apologizing for the practice not getting the thank you letter and that it had been returned to her for improper post mark and attached the letter she tried to send. She hasn't received an answer from them yet.

I would have to question her judgment if you were her boyfriend in the first place.

How do you have any power over this person? You don't if I'm reading this correctly.

I guess the lesson here is, if it's something important, don't rely on someone else to do it for ya.

Employee wise? no. But I am a paying customer of the company that employees her.

Yeah, it's getting taken to the post office from now on. What if this had been an expensive time sensitive payment a company was trying to send?

    Exactly.

It just sucks because the guy who normally does this left the week before and he would meter things in front of you when you asked. She refused to do that. Guess I should have known. It's still part of our service package that we pay for though, so its not like I asked her to do something they don't normally do.

If it's that important, then you shouldn't be using USPS.

I hate it when my girlfriend's personal mail isn't handled properly at my workplace...

Not the same. It's a service I pay for out of my own pocket. Personal or business, it's their responsibility to meter it once asked. It is part of the service contract.

Thanks for trying to be an asshole and turn this around on me though, valiant effort.

In other words, this would be the same as if I had gone to Mailboxes Etc. and they sent an item for me without putting postage on it.

That isn't even the same, not in the least.

You should give up now, because you just look stupid.

This is a service I pay for, not my employer.

You don't even know what the hell is going on in this thread.

I pay for office and clerical services, that service includes the sending and metering of mail. I told the person to meter and send the mail, they did not. I am calling their corporate office to comaplain. I did nothing wrong seeing as how they do virtual office for very many individuals that includes mail and phone answering only. This is not my place of employment, this is where I personally pay for an office and personally pay for these services. They fucked up.

Quit trying to turn this around.

Hey lets take the thread title literal, laugh at an actual problem, then blame someone for not getting a service they have paid for.
