Major Winter Storm This Weekend?

Did you also have to walk to school? Uphill? Both ways?bartsimpson wrote: I just find it funny that people get so worked up about 4" of snow. That's not a major storm....unless you live in North Carolina or Georgia. I'm in my 40's....when I was younger a 4" snowfall didn't even earn a mention on the news most of the time....now 2" gets school cancelled and people run to the stores like the world is coming to an end. We have become so wussified that it's almost hard to take. -
power iI work in a Dr's office and the last 10 people who have come through the door are all asking if we've heard about the big storm. Each person has heard a different amount. People crack me up.

CenterBHSFanI know when I was in grade school, the buses would just put chains on their tires and off to school we went. I think once or twice our bus got stuck and another bus came for us to transfer onto to get home.
Schools can't do that anymore. Too many lawsuits and the DoT says that the chains tear up the roads.
So, we HAVE become wussified and lawyerfied. -
noreply66last i heard from a columbus channel was 1 to 3 with some freezing rain 1st

WebFireMy prediction for where I live is 1-16".

THE4RINGZBetter get to the grocery store soon. I remember when I worked at a grocery as a kid, every time a storm was predicted we got slammed. Were the peole buying meat, vegtables, cereal, etc.? No they were buying chips, Pepsi, and cigarettes.

darbypitcher22whoever just told me 4-8" in Cleveland I thank you very much.... which means if we get any lake effect I can easily add another 6" to that total....

Damn skippy! If I'm getting snowed in, you'd better believe I'll have plenty of beer and smokes.THE4RINGZ wrote: Better get to the grocery store soon. Just think of how high state gas taxes and other taxes would be to cover increased road maintenance if chains were still allowed around here. I'd rather be called a "wuss" by the older generation than pay a shitload of taxes in the name of being "rugged, old fashioned, and manly"CenterBHSFan wrote: I know when I was in grade school, the buses would just put chains on their tires and off to school we went. You lie.WebFire wrote: My prediction for where I live is 1-16".
Right now its 7.4 for Findlay for Friday and Saturday with high wind gusts of 41 and sustained of 26. -
devil1197For any weather experts:
Is there a good chance of this happening or is it premature? I am heading out of town on Friday and I'll need to adjust my departure. -

Where are you headed? Don't think it will be too bad here in Ohio until late Friday evening and later as you go towards Mansfield to Cleveland area.devil1197 wrote: For any weather experts:

devil1197Just heading down to Cincinnati so I should be good.
-
gerb131That you should but I would allow some extra time for sure. 71 isn't fun in the sun let alone the snow.
-
Cat Food Flambe'Eh... every time they have one of these "changeover" storms (rain changing to snow), you can usually count on getting no more than half of what they forecast.
I'd really rather see a 4"-6" snowfall than all these dustings we seem to get in the Columbus area - when we get "real snow", people actually pay attention to their driving. What seems cause problems are the situations in which ten percent of the drivers slow down to 35 mph on the freeway, while another ten percent think that it's still sunny and 72 degrees . -
baseballstud24Yea...I'm starting to think it's not gonna be nearly what they expected.
-
gerb131All speculation right now but I think the middle 2/3 of Ohio gets 5-10 in with lesser amounts down near Cinci, up by Toledo and over to Cleveland.

oberhausMy wife is headed to Dayton late Saturday morning. Headed right down 75. So if there is the strong winds, I don't think I'm gonna let her go.
