American Idol - Italian Girl

  • SnotBubbles
A girl from Italy flew in and auditioned for American Idol last night. She made it through to Hollywood.

My question is, how can that happen? I'm not trying to be a dick here, but isn't the show called "American Idol" because it is a competition for "Americans?" I don't see how that is fair to the hundreds of thousands of other people who auditioned.

I don't get hung up on this kind of stuff too often, half of these shows are staged...but I didn't like seeing this, mostly because of what the show is supposed to represent.

If it was just a "singing" competition, I wouldn't see the problem with it.

I picked up that she was an american who had moved to Italy.
  • SnotBubbles
I didn't get that. Maybe I'm wrong though. She had a thick accent.

Regardless, she could still become an American Idol. I mean, tons of foreigners can be considered American Idols. Just have to be famous in America, not be from America.

the girl that talked real high pitched?!

    No she didn't.

I am with you on this one. If its suppose to be american let it be that.

I thought she was pretty good. Her singing voice was much better than her speaking voice. And she was pretty cute too, that doesn't hurt.

    Just found this.

    You are a legal U.S. citizen or a permanent U.S. resident who is eligible to work full-time in the United States;
So I guess that makes me question it even more considering how I am 100% sure it said she lives in Italy.

I also assumed she was an American living in Italy, and certainly didn't pick up a "thick" accent.

I disagree. I thought it was a clear, thick accent.

I'm starting to sound like "Belly."

I'll get off my high horse now. :)

She's actually from California and is already signed with a record label here in the U.S.

She was on tour in Florence and flew in is my guess.

C'mon did you really think someone actually had the name Nicci Nix? lol

Apparently she was on Season 1 of "Making the Band".
  • THE4RINGZ
I wonder if she is Nikki Sixx's daughter?

How can she be on this show if she already has a recording contract?

I was wondering that too, but from reading her Myspace it says she is one of the owners of the label, so that is probably an exemption.

I am just kind of annoyed that this reality tv "whore" made it through to Hollywood. Her career is being on reality tv shows. I was never really a fan of the show to begin with, but this REALLY dilutes it for me.

That was the only reason she made it through in my opinion.

Also, I have noticed they have really cut back on the "bad" auditions and are going for my serious ones.

Yeah they are trying to be a "serious" show. I don't know how they can claim that when they take someone like this girl.

Sounding like Belly is not a bad thing ...just spell it correctly :D

We agree on this one for sure.

The show has run it's course. That is why IMO they have shortened these "try out" shows from two hours down to one hour. That is why they have brought in the guest judges whom most of them have been a big joke. Except for Victoria, I could watch her all night.

They think they can pimp some contestants as legitimate now for ratings that would have gotten the boot in past years.
