American Idol - Italian Girl
-
Eric TaylorThe show wont last long without Simon who's run ends after this season.

THE4RINGZ^^^ Agreed

darbypitcher22I thought American Idol was for people who were unknowns and didn't have record deals? These people don't need more exposure.
Everybody wants to see the feel-good story of the girl who sang in the Baptist choir for years or the guy who waited tables just so he could buy stage time or studio time to record demos....enough of this shit alread -

I was wondering that too, but from reading her Myspace it says she is one of the owners of the label, so that is probably an exemption.Eric Taylor wrote: How can she be on this show if she already has a recording contract?
I am just kind of annoyed that this reality tv "whore" made it through to Hollywood. Her career is being on reality tv shows. I was never really a fan of the show to begin with, but this REALLY dilutes it for me.
Carly Smithson had a previous recording contract w/ MCA records when she was on the show. Randy Jackson worked for MCA during the time Smithson was under contract w/ them. There have been several other contestants w/ previous recording contracts as well. -
Eric TaylorThey should not be on the show because they already have contracts and have been discovered.
I thought the concept of American Idol was to find that unknown from Middle America who really has talent? -
Con_AlmaI thought it was to make money on the process of choosing someone who has yet to be marketed.
-
thavoiceBelieve this has been hashed over in the past.
From what i know ya cannot currently be under contract to be eligibie. A number of contestants have had previous contracts in the past.
I guess I dont have a problem with it. -

Holy cow I actually agree with you on something!Eric Taylor wrote: They should not be on the show because they already have contracts and have been discovered.

This show is a farce!! I have only watched the auditions anyway to laugh at people, I never watch it past that stage into Hollywood. -
rookie_j70She was hot, so who cares?

Maybe it's different because she owns the record label?thavoice wrote: Believe this has been hashed over in the past.

thavoice^^Could be a loophole.
She looked pretty good so im all for her being moved to the next round....but just as long as they dont allow her to talk.
Man her voice is annoyin -
Little DannyThese tryout shows are primarily watched to see the trainwreck people. You know, the William Hung's of the world. There are several types of these people, you see them on every episode. America keeps watching:
1. The over the top gay guy who is there to make Simon uncomfortable. He is usually singing and dancing to a Brittany tune.
2. The nerd who is so socially inept, he looks pathetic and you have no idea what he is saying. After he sings, the judges laugh at him. One of the female judges feels sorry for him and berate Simon for laughinig and making an insensitive comment.
3. The girl who begins her audition by saying everyone loves her singing and everyone compares her to Mariah, Whitney Houston, etc. After she bombs, Simon tells her she needs to find a new hobby.
4. Something you see more of this year, the contestant who bombs and refuses to leave. The police/security has to be called. I am sure it happened before, but they seem to show at least one of these characters each episode this season.
5. On the same note, the person who refuses to leave. They eventually leave before security is called, but they think that by throwing out the high note on "Vision of Love" the judges will change their mind.
6. The white trash/inner city ghetto person who, after bombing, proceeds to drop the f-bomb repeatedly and to tell Simon he can kiss their ass. A double bird follows.
7. The person who cries after being rejected. This person could be any of the six above. They insist to tell the judges they can't judg talent. They tell the judges they have made a big mistake and they will make it in the music industry (btw, have any of these people ever made it).
8. Something I've seen the past couple years--- the best friends/siblings who audition together. One of them is good and the other one is bad. Simon asks them which one is better and they refuse to pick. Sometimes they let both go through (the Jersey girls from this year) and sometimes they don't (two country girls also). -

I would guess, since it's basically her producing her own music, that it's allowed.LJ wrote:
