Dating a Muslim chic

  I've been seeing a girl whose parents are from Iran and is Muslim. She's pretty much non-practicing, but her parents are very religious. Her old man hates me. ...let me rephrase that.. her old man HAAAAAAAAAAATES me... mostly b.c I'm not Muslim, but also b/c he's just a hater in general. He blames me for her not practicing anymore and swears I'm trying to convert her to Catholicism. I could care less if she converts cuz I'll prolly stop talking to her in a few months anyways.
  
  Question is... is it worth it to deal with a Muslim dad just to keep hittin it or would u just move on. I'm pretty sure her dad would have no problem justifying killing me.

  Um, (if this is true...) if you're going to stop talking to her in a few months anyway, why not just cut the losses now?
  
  It's not like her dad's opinion is going to change, and if it's causing EXTRA tension (might have been tension there already, possibly), why add to it? just move on. I'm sure you've got plenty of other options.

  However, if she's non practicing, as you say, it wouldn't be hard at all. (Well....at least not due to her religion as a crutch. It may be due to other factors, however.)
  
  Actually, if she's non practicing, as you say, she's not even really a Muslim, just has a Muslim family. I know many non practicing....whatevers, and I don't usually classify them within their religion, you know what I mean?

  I mean, at the end, this doesn't make any difference, because (again, if this is true), you're going to do what will benefit you, regardless of the parents or not, and I can't blame you for that. I just assumed you were asking for legit advice, as opposed to just telling us about another chick on your supposed roster, which is why I offered up the point of view that I did.

  it was pretty hard actually and she kept using her religion as the excuse. She's non-practicing b/c she doesn't go with her family anymore, although she still says she religious.

  I've known a few Iranians in my day. He was a former Iranian soccer player for their Olympic team or something, the dude was a badass.....yet equally crazy. I definitely would buy some life insurance hahahah The only Muslim girl I'd ever get with would have to be Lebanese or Turkish, they tend to be more moderate as a whole.
  
  
  EDIT: Now that I think about it, I've met a few crazy Lebanese Muslims too, I guess the sane ones the French converted. I coach football, and we had a kid who was a devout Muslim and Lebanese-American, his parents and family had moved over in the early 1980 during the civil war. Well his uncle murdered his wife, and apparently the wife's family was "connected" back in Lebanon and their whole family pledged to kill his entire family as revenge. I guess they were in the process of getting passports and whatnot and planning to come over to the states and just go ape shit. He ended up quitting the football team in week seven because his family didn't want him to leave the house for fear he'd be killed. Freaky shit. I'm fairly certain they ended up moving to avoid repercussions.

  Well her parents actually escaped/left Iran cuz her dad was going to be killed for speaking out against the government (at least that's what she told me).. so you'd think he'd be pretty moderate too... but he's still nuts.
  
  Her mom and him were both teachers and he said something about the government and he was supposedly supposed to be killed, but had a family friend in the army tip him off and they escaped and took refuge here.. originally with family outside of detroit. Now her dad is a mechanic and crazy as hell.

  My wife had a friend from Albania. Her friend was dating this other Albanian guy and he was beating the shit out of her. She put up with it for a long time, then decided to leave him. He had told her that if she ever left, he would hunt her down and kill her. Somehow my wife and I ended up "harboring" her so he couldn't find her. She was convinced that he would indeed kill her if he found her. She stayed at our house for two nights while she figured out what to do. She wouldn't call the police on him, and she wouldn't let us call them either.
  
  Needless to say, I slept with a loaded shotgun next to my bed for those two nights...on the off chance he would find out where she was...it was crazy. Eventually her dad (who lived in Florida) flew up here and took her back to Florida with him.
  
  The craziest thing about the whole situation? A couple months later she came back to Ohio from Columbus so she could be with the guy who was beating her and threatened to kill her. When I heard that I about flipped out....haven't seen or talked to her since.
