Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd?
-
j_crazyIMO it's not close. Led Zeppelin.
-
Strapping Young LadWithout a doubt it is Pink Floyd. Way more artistic, deeper, more unique, more substance. Zep's best jams are cover's of old blues tunes.....
-
Sweet Peapink floyds most underrated album = THE FINAL CUT...haven't seen anything from it on here-
check it out when you can! -
ernest_t_bassSweet Pea... I think it is underrated b/c many people see it as Roger Waters, not Pink Floyd. I guess the same probably goes for Momentary Lapse of Reason and Division Bell, being that Waters was no longer with them. Makes you then think, is it really Pink Floyd? However, the original Pink Floyd included the lyrical geniusness of Syd Barrett, so, I guess... to each their own.

-
Strapping Young LadMany see The Final Cut as an extension of The Wall. For whatever reason, it wasn't as successful. Maybe people were looking for something fresh from the band, maybe nothing could stand up against The Wall.
IMO, Pink Floyd existed from 1973' Dark Side to 1979' The Wall. Anything from before or after that period just can't compare to what they did during that time, and it makes every other band during that era look like amateur hour...... -
killdeerRemember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine! -
killdeer"The band is just fantastic,
that is really what I think...
Oh, by the way,
Which one's Pink?" -
BRF
I just picked this up and wanted to tell you, stationrun, that I was not cracking on you. I was just giving an example of how "some" might answer your opinion.stationrun wrote: For BRF's benefit let me try this again; in my opinion no contest Floyd!
As for me, you like PF better and I like LZ better. To each their own! -

stationrunNo problem BRF, just was giving you some grief.
How about this classic Floyd tune:
"Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves
In labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant tide
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine.
And no-one called us to the land
And no-one knows the wheres or whys
But something stirs and something tries
And starts to climb towards the light
Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can
And no-one calls us to move on
And no-one forces down our eyes
And no-one speaks and no-one tries
And no-one flies around the sun
Cloudless everyday you fall upon my waking eyes
inviting and inciting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning
And no-one sings me lullabies
And no-one makes me close my eyes
And so I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky" -

SonofanumpAye an' a bit of Mackeral settler rack and ruin
ran it doon by the haim, 'ma place
well I slapped me and I slapped it doon in the side
and I cried, cried, cried.
The fear a fallen down taken never back the raize and then Craig Marion,
get out wi' ye Claymore out mi pocket a' ran doon, doon the middin stain
picking the fiery horde that was fallen around ma feet.
Never he cried, never shall it ye get me alive
ye rotten hound of the burnie crew. Well I snatched fer the blade O my
Claymore cut and thrust and I fell doon before him round his feet.
Aye! A roar he cried frae the bottom of his heart that I would nay fall
but as dead, dead as 'a can be by his feet; de ya ken?
...and the wind cried Mary.
Thank you. -

Gobuckeyes1Gonna go with Zeppelin here, but it really depends on my mood.
For me, Zep is 1 and Floyd is 1a. Both are amazing and timeless in their own ways...
