The White Death?

Colleges and universities only close as a true last resort. Everyday they are closed they lose federal funding.

I'm at work, I see lots of people leaving early - not my division buddy! We're tough! We'll man (well, some of us will "woman" the fort) the fort... oh well, I came in early so my day is over shortly anyway!

My buddy drives a CTS. I called him at his office a bit ago and asked him how he felt due to the fact that his gf was going to have to come pick him up from work

Been snowing steady here in Wayne Co. for the past hour.

I think we might be on the high end of the 2-5" that the NWS is predicting.

Hubby's just got on 670. He's going about 20mph, bitching about the way people drive. :)

Edit: Totally stopped at Leonard Ave.

That's eastbound that's backed up. The traffic cams show 0 traffic westbound.

wow those pics are a blast from the past. I was 14 or 15 then. My dad was in the hospital in C'bus. the day before with his head and face destroyed from a semi truck accident. He had 12 hours in surgery to stay alive, later had 3 plastic surgeries and 8 permanent wires. He couldn't take the cold weather after that, the wires and nerves were painful. We lived so far out in the country the National Guard came in a jeep to get my sister and I, so we could get to Logan, then got a ride to the hospital. Could not recognize my dad, his face was 3 times normal size. I slept on waiting room chairs for 2 or 3 days.

I have fled work and just arrived at home. Roads are getting bad in Holmes county.
  • Salmom
Drove to Akron, then Canton and back to Wayne County. It didn't start until I hit Wayne County about 2:45...went to S*** pretty damn quick!

    BE CAREFUL OUT THERE PEOPLE!
  • Go_Fast_Sports
Yea, it was clear here in New Phila, then as I went to leave, I looked out the window and the roads were covered totally... Here I am stuck again. Ugh...
  • CenterBHSFan
Started snowing here about 3:00. My road is currently covered, and I'm glad that my stepfather is home from dialysis now, so I don't have to worry about him/driver being out on the road.

I also had a Kroger experience today. People lined up in the checkout lines about 1/2 way through the aisles. Glad I only had to pick up tomatoes!

I just read in Springfield a tanker hit a special needs bus, and killed like 4 people..that's horrible.
  • baseballstud24
I just read that too. Horrible news. Please be careful out there people!

At least main campuses won't close. Since branch campuses are commuter based, they do tend to close those.
(EDIT: All OU branches were closed for the evening as of 4:45 PM, Athens still open)

OU closed the Athens Campus one day in January 2009 because of an absurd amount of ice (everyone on the state closed pretty much), but that was the first and only time in my 5 1/2 years here (I graduated and came back for an MA, I'm not a career student :)). Apparently the last time before it was Feb. 2003. Either way, it's a rare event for a large state university to close.

    I don't get it.
FWIW, that doesn't kick in until next school year. They still have 5.

During winter quarter of the 93-94 year when I was in Athens, we were shut down for a few days. That area just got BLASTED by a blizzard. A lot of partying went down during that time.
