My friend caught a black guy in his truck last night
-
TiernanWhy is everyone breaking everybody else's balls on here...Speedofsand is the one on trial, lets get back to rakin' this FL cracker over the coals.
-
bases_loadedOh he likes Florida? fuck that racist...everyone notice the use of cracker above too

Some of my neighbors are flying Confederate flags. I also see plenty on trucks. You just live in the wrong part of Ohio.Tiernan wrote: C'mon man you don't see Confederate flags on trucks in Ohio and you know you passed at least two on your way to work this morning in FL. -
Fab1bFL cracker?? Hey thats me
Seriously why does everything have to be taken racially? Can't we all just get along? -
Upper90While not racist, poorly worded is a more accurate statement.
-
TiernanCracker ain't racist thats a term of endearment in FL.
-
Glory Daysi'll have to look it up again, but i believe i read somewhere Ohio has more hate groups than any state in the south. but anyways...
whats funny is no one else sees this. they just call the thread creator out instead of realizing they were assuming because he was black, he was doing something wrong.bases_loaded wrote: So because you assumed that the fact it was a black guy in his truck he was doing something wrong, the thread creator was in the wrong? hmmm
kind of reminds me of this episode of southpark:
-
Upper90Yes, it is unfair to call the thread creator racist, but at the same time, those saying that he worded this poorly aren't that far off. Solely because the race of the person had so little to do with the actual story (which, actually, would have held up fine on it's own without race being mentioned at all.)

Fab1b^bingo Upper90

Glory Days
well in that case, he should use the term human. if he uses "a guy was in my car" then that would be sexist assuming only guys break into cars right?Upper90 wrote: Yes, it is unfair to call the thread creator racist, but at the same time, those saying that he worded this poorly aren't that far off. Fab1bYou're digging

krambman
Yes, him being black and turning red is relevant to the punch line of the joke at the end of the story. It is not relevant enough to the story to warrant being in the title. Why not just title it "My friend caught a guy in his truck last night"? You can still talk about this being the only time that your friend has seen a black person turn red. Again, I'm not saying that you're racist, you're probably not, but when you point out someones race in the thread title and their race is largely irrelevant to the story you are telling (the story is about accidentally mistaking someone else's vehicle for yours, the joke about a black person turning red is a runny anecdote tacked onto the end), it makes it appear racist. If you can't comprehend how that can come off as racist (since clearly it did to a lot of people) then you may not be as socially adept as you think.Speedofsand wrote: krambman I agree except I didn't think it was going out of my way to say black in the title. I thought it was relevant to the humorous line about a black guy turning red. Using a Mexican server comment is not relevant.
Tiernan, I changed nothing. 'turning red' is being embarassed. The man was embarassed, my friend laughed it off and they both will live happily ever after. You will live a miserable life hating people in Florida, Tebow, and boiled peanuts. Your loss. Stay classy, God Bless Tiernan
Well, I live in Columbus, so I can't speak to much for the rest of the state, but C-bus is actually one of the most tolerant cities in America. A very diverse population which is a microcosm of the country and it is perhaps the most gay-friendly city next to San Francisco.ts1227 wrote:
Ohio, by and large, is just a sad extension of the South when it comes to tolerance and intelligence. Only difference is the accent.Tiernan wrote: Fab1 living in FL doesn't make you a redneck but it sure gives you an excellent opportunity to live next door (both sides) to one! -
Glory Daysok....what if he described every last detail of the resturant, the parking lot, the vehicles, the weather, and still used the term black guy. would it be ok then since he described everything else in detail?

gorocks99Titles can't be that long.
-
bigdaddy2003I'm getting so tired of the racism ordeal. We never actually gain any ground on the subject when it's discussed on here.
-
Fab1bHa ha ha ha ha ha ha at this ad:
-
Upper90Glory, you're reaching.
Had he just said, My friend caught a guy in his truck last night......no issue, and you know there's no issue there.
It made no sense to include the race, as it wasn't truly relevant to a story that was a solid story without it.
I know it's fun to argue just for the sake of it, but this one is pretty (no pun) black and white. -

its freehuddle.com, are we supposed to gain ground on issues?bigdaddy2003 wrote: I'm getting so tired of the racism ordeal. We never actually gain any ground on the subject when it's discussed on here. -
sejWow. This thread took a turn.
I agree with the poor wording/unneeded wording vs. racist discussion, as well as the connotation of caught in this instance. -
bigdaddy2003
lol maybe not but I would like to think we could.Glory Days wrote:

Following the apocalypse in 2012, freehuddle.com will take the place of Congress. So yeah, we better start learning quickly.Glory Days wrote:

When I first busted ol' Speedy it wasn't because I could care less if he's racist or not...I just really don't like him to begin with and basically will take any opportunity to ridicule Gator fans.bigdaddy2003 wrote: I'm getting so tired of the racism ordeal.
