ZWICK 4 PREZmove away then come back and complain about how boring Ohio is.
I've traveled to a lot of places, and Ohio is not as bad as a majority of places are. Granted, there are a lot nicer places than any city in Ohio, but what struck a nerve is a guy who moved to Mesa, Arizona and recently moved back to Canton.. and is claiming Ohio is boring and killing his "creativity". Seriously? Mesa? I've been to Mesa and I'm not sure there are any cities in Ohio worse than Mesa.
So the question is.... why do you stay or move back to Ohio if it's such a horrible place? -
coyotes22I love Ohio!!!!
Let it snow!!!!! -
Fab4RunnerI love Ohio. I would have a hard time moving somewhere else if I ever had to.
-
darbypitcher22I love being in Ohio as well. People who do that make me upset too.
-
tuskytuffguyI would have no problem leaving this place. Yeah, my family is here, but I gotta live my life.
-
j_crazyI moved away. My only complaint about Ohio is the limited jobs in my field. I'm considering a move to charleston wv or Pittsburgh just to be closer to that area. Ohio is better than it gets credit for but I'm biased.
-
sleeperPeople just say that because its cliche, sort of like buying a MAC because it makes you cool.
-
Fab1bI love Ohio but I don't miss living there!! Love going back to visit!
-
AppleI've lived in Ohio all my life. I could see moving to a different state sometime... probably one that doesn't have income taxes would be my first choice.
-
Wildcat24Ohio really isn't that bad, I always enjoy returning a couple of times a year. If I ever moved back, I certainly wouldn't complain.

Income tax? I think you mean state taxes. Not sure of a state that doesn't have income tax.Apple wrote: I've lived in Ohio all my life. I could see moving to a different state sometime... probably one that doesn't have income taxes would be my first choice. -
gerb131I like Ohio people in the south are too conservative for me.

Trust me we have income tax, we have no state taxes! But that is too fold, they get you to make up on those when you renewing tags, gas tax, property tax, those types of things are outragous!Apple wrote:

believerIs Ohio boring? No.
I've lived 43 of my 53 years in Ohio so I obviously love Ohio.
But having lived the past 7 years in central Pennsylvania and 3 years spread over Hawaii, Texas and Georgia I have to say that there definitely are certain things about Ohio that make me scratch my head.
One of the biggest down sides to Ohio that stands out like a sore thumb to me is the deplorable condition of Ohio highways. It amazes me when I hear Pennsylvanians complain about their roads but compared to Ohio, PA roads are in far better condition. Of course there's a reason for that...higher fuel taxes. PA's income taxes are higher than Ohio's but PA does not tax clothing and other personal items like Ohio does. Drive west on I-80 in PA and then into Ohio near Youngstown. You can see the road conditions change IMMEDIATELY upon crossing the state line.
Another glaring issue I notice in Ohio is a general "untidiness" everywhere including dirty streets, litter, billboards everywhere, etc. There's just a general haphazard "cluttered" feel to Ohio. It's tough to describe.
You can also sense a "downer" mood among the people in Ohio with a crappy economy and everyone watching friends and family leave the state to look for work. I'm amazed at the number of Ohioans I've met here in PA. When I ask them what brought them here they almost all say "I needed a job." When I ask them if the miss Ohio almost all of them say no. -
rookie_j70Ohio is great...I just hate snow

I could swear that I heard of Pro athletes that pick florida teams because of no income tax.Apple wrote:

El Jefe GrandeIf you know like I know, you should lie low. I used to get it in Ohio.

jmogI'm with you Zwick, I've traveled a ton for work and its not like Ohio is the butt hole of the world. Are there some places more interesting? Sure. Are there places that ARE the butt hole of the world? Absolutely.

iclfan2Believer, I just drove from Warren to Pittsburgh, going from I-80 to wherever, and no thanks for paying 5 dollars in tolls for about an hour drive. If I had someone drop me off at the airport and drive back it would have cost them $10. That is ridiculous. I don't live in Ohio and because of the unbearable cold and snow I don't think I would ever live there again, unless I lived in Cleveland and had Browns and Indians season tickets. That said, Ohio will always be home.

royal_kBorn and raised in Ohio. Moved to Phoenix for 5 years and moved back. I do love Ohio, but definately miss Phoenix weather.
-
CenterBHSFanI've lived in Ohio and California.
I loved Ca., and someday will probably move back. But there are downsides to living there. Traffic can be horrible. I never saw much of my next door neighbors. And housing is unbelievable.
But, it's great if you've got a great career or single/no kids!
But as far as raising little ones, Ohio beats Ca. hands down. Nothing like small towns and small schools.
When I was growing up, I couldn't wait to get out of Ohio and spread my wings a little bit. Eventually, I did. But, when I moved back "home", I appreciated Ohio on a different level than I ever could in my youth. -
dwccrewTell them it could be worse, they could live in Michigan.
