Do you mind going to a restaurant by yourself?
-
Swamp FoxI don't mind it. Usually, if I do it, it's breakfast and as long as I have a nice big cup of coffee and a Sport's Page to absorb, I'm fine. My problem is that I've been in this town for so long that I am constantly being greeted and small talk begins and...well, you know how it works. Not so much for dinner...in fact, hardly ever.

I don't see why it's a concern to do so. -

A few years ago a friend of mine called me and asked if I wanted to go to breakfast with him. I wasn't doing anything so I said "sure, I'll go". He took me to the Star Diner. I have been back there several times. I even took my wife there once. (I know, I know, I have no idea why I did it...probably a guilty conscience), anyway....a trip to the Star Diner is always esthetically pleasing. The food isn't too bad either.Keebler wrote: When I worked midnights, I use to eat breakfast after work a lot by myself at Star Diner. (hot waitresses) -
dwccrewFast food and breakfast places, no problem. At my previous job I went out of town a lot for work, so eating at a restaurant alone was normal.

rookie_j70i feel weird eating at a resturant by myself. unless its a fast food place, in that case i get it to go

Don't lie, you snowboard alone because another person can't fit on the lift with you!
I went skiing yesterday... I forgot how pathetic places around Ohio were. Makes me miss New Hampshire/Vermont even with the not as cold conditions.
Was that a fat joke? Jerk! -
McFly1955I never do.
I think breakfast is pretty normal for a perrson to eat alone in a restaurant...Dinner I would definitely not do alone in a restaurant. -
Def LeopardI travel on business regularly and dislike eating in restaurants alone. I do it occasionally but most often order something delivered to my room.

Laley23Breakfast is fine
Lunch is fine, but I prefer to try to find co-workers or meet people
Dinner I would never eat alone. I would just get depressed myself, let alone what others think.
Fast food I usually do alone. If Im with someone I go get real food, unless drunk or high of course. -
BuckeyeBlueIt more depends on the type of restaurant. I'll go to a bar or sports bar. Probably not going to go to a nice, sitdown place alone. I have no problems walking across the street to get a great burger or go to breakfast. I'll go to breakfast on my own as well. Did it many times in the morning when I was driving from Saratoga Springs, NY to Vermont to go snowboarding.

Cat Food Flambe'Personally, I think it's MUCH easier to go to the movies alone that to eat dinner alone. Everyone is watchng the screen, not you.
Especially if the movie was being shown at the Bexley Art Theatre. -

GoPensDo it all the time. Same with movies. Usually grab a newspaper to read. It's no big deal.

dcrocksDepends on the restaurant. If it's a sports bar, I'm probably there to watch the game, so I don't need to have other people with me. If I'm at fast food, I don't care a ton, I'm usually eating by myself b/c I'm in transit between something and in a rush.
Otherwise, I'd rather someone else be with, to have someone to keep conversation with. -
3reppomBasically if there is something that I feel like doing, be it going to the movies, or a game or a restaurant and I can't find anyone to go with me I will go by myself. If it violates some unwritten social convention then so be it.
