Did Russel get screwed on Survivor?
-
tcby99Yes...he did.
-
Scarlet_BuckeyeYes
-
sportchamppsyes... He lost because a bunch of people were bitter. They thought they played with better morals but they blindsided Eric to start the whole thing. Its hard to change bitter peoples minds. I said all along this season had the dumbest cast ever and it was proved again with how they voted.
-
BlitzkriegIt's why I hate the show. The best players never win. The mice that hide behind the Russel's win because of the bitterness of those voted out.
-
Elliot StablerI havent watched since the 1st season when Rudy got the screw job.
-
GoPensYou tick off too many members of the jury and that's what happens. Yes, he played his ass off but there's a price to be paid for that.
I was pulling for him until the last half hour of the show when the final three was spending their last day at camp. His bragging and patting himself on the back was a bit much.
The next Survivor, Heroes vs. Villans looks interesting. Any word on the cast yet? -
v_falconscan someone give me a rundown of the last hour of the show ? I was able to watch it all the way up to Jaison leaving..

Immunity challenge was balancing a figurine on a pole that got a foot longer every 2 minutes. It got to 7 feet and came down to Russell and Brett and Russell won immunity. Russell considered voting for Mick and letting him and Brett battle for the final spot, but in the end stuck with his alliance and voted out Brett. They all made good arguments at tribal, and Erik made a very impassioned plea for Natalie to win arguing she played the best game and she started to cry. Mick got no votes, Russell got two, and Natalie got the rest. Russell was very visibly upset the whole reunion show. He, like I, was shocked that he lost He even offered to pay Natalie for the title "Sole Survivor" since he obviously doesn't need the money, but she declined. This was maybe the funniest reunion show ever. They announced that next season, being their 20th, will pit 10 former players who played with integrity against 10 former players who were manipulative villains. Looks like it should be pretty good.v_falcons wrote: can someone give me a rundown of the last hour of the show ? I was able to watch it all the way up to Jaison leaving..
And to answer the original question, yes, he got screwed. he was the greatest Survivor player ever in my opinion.
P.S.
The show and the reunion will be on the CBS website tomorrow so you can watch them both there. -
TimberNo and yes....
Yes he "played" the game most aggressively, with the most passion and worked every angle/relationship to the max. Also, he grinded hard and was incredibly keen in spotting the immunity idols... major props.
Many times... the players that are so aggressive, burn too many bridges to gain the votes of the jury. So no, he did not get screwed because the repercussions of playing the game aggressively and promising a bunch of people they will get to the finals is part of the game. The jurors returned the favor to... "screw" Russell without the "common courtesy of a reach-around." LOL
This jury thing is my fundamental problem with the show. Those who have been eliminated... some by a tribes number advantage and some being blind-sided by manipulation... do not make for the most subjective jurors.
Russell was a beauty!! I would be surprised if he is not on the next show with the good vs. villains. -
mattinctownI wanted him to get to the final 3 just to see what the jury would ask him and how he would respond, but didn't want him to win. Then the fact that he looked really pissed off when he didn't win was a bit much for me. I totally think he will be on the next season, he's one of the biggest villians of all time, he has to be on there
I agree that he was way too cocky during the final day with Mick and Natalie, and we also only see a very small part of the footage, who knows what else happened to possibly sway jury votes.
Just read an interview with his brother, and yes, Russell will be on the next season. My guess is that he gets voted off pretty early. -
queencitybuckeyeYes. If I'm on the show, and someone kicks my ass like Russell kicked everyone's ass sitting on the jury, there's no way I couldn't vote for him.
-
GoChiefsI don't watch the show enough to know what's going on..I might see two episodes a season if there is nothing else on TV..don't care for Survivor. But I hear people complain about Russell not winning b/c he played the better game. Ok..so everyone knows at the end of the show..including Russell..that the winner is voted on by the people that were already voted off. So IMO..you have to find a way to get there to the end WITHOUT pissing everyone off. Don't know what all Russell did to get to the finals..but obviously it ticked a bunch of people off. So that's not a great way to try to win IMO.
-
TiernanIt ain't over til its over and for Russel it was over everytime he betrayed someone. He will definitely be on the Villain team, so don't cry for the Charlie Manson look-alike.

Scarlet_BuckeyeNever in the history of all Reality shows has there been a more deserving winner who didn't win. Weak people (like those on the jury) are so jealous of smart, confident people like Russel -- the jealousy level is truly through the roof. I liked Jaison this season but I was truly disappointed in him not being able to put his bitterness aside and do the right thing by voting for the BEST player. Jaison's bitterness at the end just made him an ugly/childish person in my eyes. Being a "coattail rider" does NOT make you a deserving WINNER. Russel won this seaon hands down!!!!!!!!!
Addendum: Russel was even playing the game at the after show when he whipped out that pair of socks for Jaison. He truly intended to repay Jaison for the burned socks but when Jaison acted like such a baby, Russel did the right thing and burned them. -
GoChiefsBut you know your fellow cast mates will be voting the winner. I don't think you're that smart of a player if you do whatever you can to piss them off just to make it to the end. You know you're not going to win when everyone else is pissed off at you.

That's the double-edge sword. Only small people would be mad at the person who beat them, if they're mad it should be at themselves for getting played. IMO, a vote for anyone but Russell last night screams "I'm a petty little shit".GoChiefs wrote: But you know your fellow cast mates will be voting the winner. vball10sethe's a douche-I'm glad he didn't win--burning peoples socks? are you frickin' kidding me???

gorocks99How does someone get "screwed" on a game show? Knew the rules, didn't win, TS. It's not like the rules suddenly changed at the end to disadvantage him.
-
SageYou can't talk about openly fucking peoplke and then expect them to deal with you fairly.
-
sportchampps" I would be surprised if he is not on the next show with the good vs. villains. "
I think next season is already taped or in the process of being taped now isnt it. It starts airing in Feb. I hope they had enough time to get him on there. -
CharlieHogRussell is on Survivor 20. The full cast was leaked but I didn't see like 17 seasons so I don't know most of the people. Boston Rob is on the villains, and Rupert is on the heroes, that's the only others I remember.
He didn't get screwed, the point is to get to the end and then win over the jury. Natalie did that, Russell didn't.
I was a Russell fan the whole time though. Can't wait to see him on season 20.
