Runners of the OC...shoe preference?
-
TedShecklerI prefer Road Runner Sports in Worthington. They do the same thing. They analyze your foot and running style, then select a variety of shoes that would best fit.

Raw Dawgin' itI wear my nike lunar flys to the gym and for sprints/interval training. Never been a distance runner but even when I'd go for runs around 6-8 miles i never had a problem with them and my feet/ankles/knees/shins never hurt. I have flat feet and don't wear insoles cause those fucking things hurt. I've always had nikes and never had a problem with them.
I did the tough mudder in a pair and they were great, so to each his own. -

Very well possible. I'd be curious to see ya actually running. Even check out your foot strike on an old pair of shoes. imo- all of this crap matters if ya can get away with wearing the minimalist idea shoes.Raw Dawgin' it;1234421 wrote:I wear my nike lunar flys to the gym and for sprints/interval training. I hate that swoosh company for other reasons than their shoes. Their spikes hands down were the most comfortable I've ever worn. F*ck Phil Knight and his company.

The lunar flys have a thicker insole. My feet pronate a little when i run so having a thicker sole where my would be arch is really helps.said_aouita;1234474 wrote:Very well possible. I tried on a pair of Newton's at the AF marathon expo and they felt gooooooooooooooooooood. Like a, "woah.....damn. I like these a lot!" kind of moment.Raw Dawgin' it;1234480 wrote:The lunar flys have a thicker insole. And then I found out they were like $150 bucks.
Umm, thanks but I'll stick with the lesser expensive Asics. If I ever was willing to get serious again about running, maybe I'd be willing to spend that much for running shoes. -

I spend about $80 when i get a pair. Would never go higher.said_aouita;1234486 wrote:I tried on a pair of Newton's at the AF marathon expo and they felt gooooooooooooooooooood. Like a, "woah.....damn. I like these a lot!" kind of moment.

Con_AlmaIt's often possible to find last year's model at a shoe wharehouse in your size at 1/2 the retail price of the current year.

They made their name in triathletes. Tons of Ironman champs wear their shoes. -
AutomatikThese are my most recents.
RG3 kicks, Adidas Sonic 3.
Nice combo of support and light weight. -

I'm with ya man. The 2160 is a really common shoe. I gotta be able to find them on clearance someplace.Con_Alma;1234548 wrote:It's often possible to find last year's model at a shoe wharehouse in your size at 1/2 the retail price of the current year.
MC Sports $69.99 clearance price. Only size 9.5. frick me. -

ooooooh If they RG3's I gotta get a pair.Automatik;1234553 wrote:These are my most recents.

lol. They look good at least. I could care less about a shoe being light weight. I'm not light weight. I should worry about losing the extra 20 pounds around my gut, compared to how light the shoe is.
I believe these shoes are only being sold at Dicks Sporting Goods? Not even sure if Runners World has done a review or if they are listed on the Adidas website.
If they comfortable and no blisters or other owies= All good.
`hmm, I wonder what shoes people were mentioning is like some special DSG only model.Automatik;1234666 wrote:I got them from adidas.com $85 shipped.
I've always been a fan of the adizero line so I thought I'd give them a go. I'm happy with the purchase, no complaints. -

Have ya tried any of the other on the lunar platform?Raw Dawgin' it;1233826 wrote:Reps - I'm on my 4th pair of lunar flys. -
thavoiceKinda figured you would be a show snob!!!
I had heard that before about Nike's from people. I have run more than the average guy and have tried asics, miz, nike, new balance and the ones that seem to always win out is the nike for whatever reason. LIke everyone says....it depends on the person. When I need to look for a new model i do make a trip to a running store and try on pretty much everything that would work for a guy who needs the extra cushioning and some support.
I max out at 35 miles a week when I am going good but usually am around 20/wk
ccrunner609;1233911 wrote:Nike makes junk, wouldnt run from a fire in them.
The shoe market for runners is a joke. THese "minimalist" shoe fad drives me nuts. I have runners coming to practice with these lightweight shoes. I tell them that serious runners dont wear that junk. You want to train 50+ miles a week in them you will be injured by week 2. If you are a hobby jogger or weekend warrior, or even a serious runner that might take a pair of these shoes and train 1 or 2 times a week it prolly wouldnt hurt you.

Now the brand loyal runner in me is hard to break sometimes. Asics, Mizuno, brooks are all in the closet right now. You cant go wrong with the Asics 2100 series or Brooks Adrenaline GTS. Both have good support and decent cushioning. I am also running in a pair of Saucony Triumph and Saucony Cohesion. I am rotating them depending on the run and surface.
Prolly out of all of them, the Saucony Cohesion are the best buy for what you get. $50 for a shoe that has really good cushioning. I am a very nuetral runner with a forfoot plant when I run so I dont need a shoe with alot of stability or pronation control. Just cushioning so my feet arent killing me after those 50 miles weeks and two-a-days.
Asics didnt really last very long for me. I go the least mileage out of them. The New balance I really liked...the 925's maybe...cannot remember, but when I went back to get a new pair none of the replacements felt that great.
The biggest head shake I get is when people say "I bought he most expensive running shoe, they gotta be good" from some place online without even trying them on!
I really like going to Endurance SPorts in Dayton. Takes 90 min to get there but that guy really knows his stuff and it is a blast going there and trying them on..and using his "track" to run in them! -

Yeah...know what ya mean! Was thinking of getting two pair this time..the lunarfly and maybe one "higher" on the nike food chain so I can alternate themRaw Dawgin' it;1234716 wrote:Honestly, no. I don't fix what isn't broken ha. -

I know this is a "runners" thread, but I like the shoe for purposes of wearing casually so I posted it here since the Sauchony brand was mentioned. I don't find running enjoyable. If that helps clarify.Automatik;1237535 wrote:I have those. You cannot run in them. -

Haha I was just commented to see if you actually ran in those. They are paper thin. They kill me feet after just walking in them too long.reclegend22;1237550 wrote:I know this is a "runners" thread, but I like the shoe for purposes of wearing casually so I posted it here since the Sauchony brand was mentioned. I don't really "run" either. Actually I fucking hate it. -

Agreed haha. And yeah, I imagine the bullets would make the running experience even more of a living hell than it already is for me. They feel as though they are made out of dollar bills. I was very surprised by their material when I opened the box after buying them online. But they are still a pretty cool shoe, IMO.Automatik;1237551 wrote:Haha I was just commented to see if you actually ran in those. They are paper thin. How many miles do ya get outta your asics?mella;1237493 wrote:Took some time off after an injury last year but I've run in Asics for years. I've tried other brands but keep coming back to Asics. Right now I've got gel cumulus-13.
The pair I tried I got to the low end of what I normally get but other htan that they were a good shoe. -

I'd recommend going with Nimbus. The first pair of Asics I got years ago was Cumulus. Loved them, but they didn't last extremely long. Nimbus is the same type of shoe that's a lot more durable. I'm a relatively heavy runner and can get 500+ miles out of them.thavoice;1237701 wrote:How many miles do ya get outta your asics?

Anyone else done this switch? Wondering how much difference between these shoes.
