Auburn-Alabama is one of the top as well.

I don't give a fuck about OSU or UM, but their rivalry has to be the top. What other rivalry has contributed to two states irrationally hating each other?

    Hatfield</SPAN>&#8211;McCoy</SPAN></SPAN>

    In the high school category</SPAN>

Mck-Mass game is well know nationally as one of the biggest high school games in the country for those who follow high school football

Back in the day the Canton Lincoln - Mck basketball would rival any high school sporting event today.</SPAN>

    College </SPAN>

    Ohio</SPAN> &#8211; Mich is the game </SPAN>

I been to a </SPAN>Alabama</SPAN> and Auburn game and that gets a little crazy also..</SPAN>

Not sure Professional Team sport really have a true rivalry but Individual Competition Sport do</SPAN>

Those local rivalrys like Rangers vs Celts no matter how intense or violent do not garner the huge scope of interest the OSU vs scUM rivalry generates. Somebody close this bitch of a thread already...its been decided, documented and decreed.

If you are talking worldwide rivalries and worldwide interest to the rivalry. I have little doubt its Barcelona vs Real Madrid.

Rivalry is beyond football. Barcelona is in a part of Spain that wants to be its own country. Its like a cival war of politics. That and more people watch that game than any other sporting event each year outside the Super Bowl and CL final.

    Nooooo! But no one cares!

This IS worldwide rivalries, and I would put money on it being soccer.

Why would ESPN's take on the matter lend or take away credibility from an opinion. What makes them an authority?

What's ESPN's number 1 rivalry? ESPN vs. Quality Sports Journalism?

Fair enough but who's opinion has more merit?

On a subject this completely subjective, no opinion is particularly more correct than another.

lol'd. Stephan A Smiff, Skip Bayless, Colin Cowherd, Stuart Scott, Tony Kornheiser, Jay Mariotti, Steven Phillips, Jeremy Green, and Sean Salisbury think it is one and the same.

Any other outlet. Yahoo. Fox Sports. CNNSI. Etc, etc, etc.

But lets be honest, you wont see an American company put much outside of the American teams/sports in their top 10. Doesnt make it right, means they arent stupid.

If that's the criteria then India-Pakistan cricket might be the tops. Makes two large countries hate each other (well not just the game but it adds to it and has political ramifications as well).
