DeyDurkie5We need to get rid of skyscrapers and airplanes, alcohol and cars.
Anytime something like this happens, people freak the fuck out. Take a xanax and calm down. This guy was fucked in the head, nothing more nothing less. You don't need to wreck and entire corporation because of one person's flaws(religion and priests is what I was getting at) -

Round of applause for this ignorant citizen! Hand guns are designed for what then? How is a legal assault rifle different than a hunting rifle? Do you know what semi-auto means? Seriously, do you know enough about the weapons you're talking about to make a valid argument on why they should be banned? How is a gun specifically designed to kill people?I Wear Pants;1232610 wrote:Not people.
Assault weapons are specifically designed to be as efficient as possible at killing people. Hunting rifles are designed to be efficient at killing game.
Make punishment for breaking gun laws stricter and you'll see less crime. -

That's a HUNTING rifle that meets the specs of an "assault rifle".Pick6;1232635 wrote:where did he say assault rifles cant kill game? -

right, I am sure somebody shooting up a movie theater is worried about what his punishment is going to be.Raw Dawgin' it;1232628 wrote:

Crime laws for illegal drugs can be pretty strict. A lot of people still do them. -

exceptions to the rule - because you see 70 people getting shot all the time.Pick6;1232641 wrote:right, I am sure somebody shooting up a movie theater is worried about what his punishment is going to be.

Do you know anything about guns or are you just talking out your ass like I Wear Pants?Pick6;1232635 wrote:where did he say assault rifles cant kill game? -

I know a lot about guns actually. Grew up shooting them and hunting all the time. With your definition of an assault rifle, my .22 rifle is an assault rifle. Yet it is designed to kill small game. Real deadly gun right there.Raw Dawgin' it;1232645 wrote:Do you know anything about guns or are you just talking out your ass like I Wear Pants? -

ok. give me an example of a situation where stricter gun laws would cause less crime. Holding somebody up in an armed robbery? You are already going to go to jail for a long time for that. That's the federal gov't definition, as well as what is described to lay-people.Pick6;1232652 wrote:I know a lot about guns actually. Grew up shooting them and hunting all the time. shooting someone with a .22 isn't deadly, got it. Assault weapon was just a term made up by the government when they banned them in 1994 - and if your .22 doesn't have the same cosmetics as a full-auto weapon then no, it's not an assault weapon.Pick6;1232652 wrote:I know a lot about guns actually. break a gun law go to prison for life - make people think twice than "hmm if i get caught i'll only do 3-5." Make penalties extreme.Pick6;1232656 wrote:ok. give me an example of a situation where stricter gun laws would cause less crime. Holding somebody up in an armed robbery? alright Im going to step back from debating here for a second, so I can understand exactly what stance you are taking. I see a post that says "people act like if it was banned, it wouldnt have happened, which is bull shit". And I also see a post saying "if you make stricter gun laws, there will be less crimes"Raw Dawgin' it;1232662 wrote:break a gun law go to prison for life - make people think twice than "hmm if i get caught i'll only do 3-5." Putting those two posts together seems contradicting. -

I'll elaborate - people who are crazy, fucked up, and who genuinely want to hurt people will. If he couldn't use a rifle he would've used his hand gun, if he couldn't use a gun he probably would've built a bomb. All I'm saying is people who malfunction as humans and go crazy and want to hurt people are going to either way. He got a gun legally, if it was illegal to own a gun i'm sure he would've gotten one illegally.Pick6;1232671 wrote:alright Im going to step back from debating here for a second, so I can understand exactly what stance you are taking. It doesn't change my stance that if laws had harsher penalties it might detour people from committing gun crimes. -

fair enough. Agree to disagree on gun laws being stricter. If stricter gun crimes were implemented, I have to believe IF any criminal had second thoughts about using a gun, they would resort to other weapons.Raw Dawgin' it;1232680 wrote:I'll elaborate - people who are crazy, fucked up, and who genuinely want to hurt people will. Pretty much a catch 22. I don't have a problem with gun laws now and I don't think banning is the answer since there are so many responsible gun owners. I just think if you're going to do something, then start with harsher penalties.Pick6;1232704 wrote:fair enough. Agree to disagree on gun laws being stricter. sportchamppsCalifornia has some of the strictest firearms laws in the us. They also have more gang shooting then just about anywhere else. Criminals will find weapons just like someone who does drugs will find drugs even though their illegal.
