Terrible situation, shooting....information still being gathered

Didn't take long for the politicians to use this tragedy to further their own agenda.

I also love how the media refers to any big scary weapon as an assault rifle. The definition of "assault" rifle includes full auto capability, but I wouldn't expect anyone in the media to report anything unbiased.

Terrible - it's like real life final destination

Her brother is updating the situation via his blog....it's hard to read.

Must be the same girl in RDI's earlier post? To think you escaped a potential tragedy, only to have it happen again--only this time with a horrific ending.

    Just that easy, isn't it?

I hope this illistrates the point that gun free zones don't do anything but make the people easier targets. I understand that the movie theater had no gun signs posted on the doors. As we can see, that worked out really good. Of course, the liberal solution is to ban guns even more.

If I were in a theater and someone started shooting, I'd sure as hell at least try. Run to the exits and get gunned down or at least attempt to stop the idiot. Probably get shot either way, at least you made the attempt.

Not saying you shouldn't. Not saying I wouldn't. But I think you grossly underestimate how quickly this stuff goes down. By the time you figured it out, he would probably be done and gone.

Well, I've never been in that kind of situation but hopefully I'd at least have the opportunity to try.

Unless you are extremely close to the exit you wouldn't have much chance of getting out.....if you could grasp the situation quickly you could hit the floor and tuck and cover.....maybe if you were down and could tell the shots were from the front maybe you could bolt for it....but I'm playing dead (hopefully) and not too many seconds later the shooting will cease and the mother fucker will take off.

Gotta get low IMO. No visibility...can't really pull off the "hero" move.

All major news outlets are talking about control non stop, so politics have been in this thing since CNN started covering it.

You see the video of the 70 year old preventing an internet cafe robbery by shooting at the robbers-to-be? Perfect counter to any bleeding liberal gun control supporter.

Gun control would never ever prevent someone who truly wants to carry out a shooting. Anyone who thinks otherwise is extremely ignorant.

I did, but that doesn't get the media coverage a shooting like this does. No one in the media cares when guns are used to help, only when their is some kind of tragedy they can use to further their agenda. I agree, nothing could have stopped this from happening, he passed the background checks and by all accounts was perfectly "sane" until he decided to shoot up the place. Nothing, not even a complete gun ban, would have stopped this.

You know, I usually try and leave you alone on here, but you say dumb things sometimes. How is the hero that's been exposed to the gas already suppose to find the strength and ability to remove a gasmask from someone who isn't affected like they are?
It's about equally entertaining as the people saying "This is why we need conceal and carry!!" - So what, then it'd be them and their handguns vs the guy with the automatic weapons and full body armor?

It's a sad day when you can't even go to a movie theater without risking death.

If not for the gas canisters I'm with ccrunner. With tear gas i don't think you can expect civilians to react heroically.

Any word on a motive? I can't wrap my head around why the mass murder and booby trapped apartment without a deep seeded motive.
