Bengals WR Chris Henry dead at 26... possible suicide

Obviously the good lord decided it was the 'time to come' for both of the gentleman. I don't think the 'cause of death' determines whether or not you can scrutinize one over the other.alwaysafan wrote: Well, Oral Roberts died from natural causes, so it is much easier to make jokes about a man who's time had come. Whereas Chris Henry died from a tragic accident at a young age. Not saying it is right, but it is what it is. -

And I for one agree that this is not a matter where any 'jokes' should be involved. Now..with that being said..go look at the thread about the passing of Oral Roberts..plenty of jokes and bashing were thrown around there..and only a couple of people said it was wrong to talk about him like that right after he passed. So now..b/c it's an athlete..your not allowed to say anything negative about him or joke about him? Like I said..I don't condone it..I think it's classless as well..but come on..some people need to quit being hypocrites here.

Hey asshole, if she was swerving all over the road and caused him to lose his balance and fall, that counts.

easy, tough guy..I wasn't shooting YOU down, just commenting on the irony of Roberts and Henry being used in the same sentence--now go take a Xanax and relaxGoChiefs wrote:
What's unreal about it? Both celebrities that passed away..it's ok to make fun of the death of one but you can't the other? No..not hardly. Not comparing Oral Roberts and Chris Henry either..comparing the fact that they both died this week and there were threads about them. Where the hell did I compare Mr. Henry and Mr. Roberts?vball10set wrote: comparing Oral Roberts and Chris Henry....unreal -

Your definition of "tragedy" doesn't truly impact anyone outside of that immediate family either, what are you trying to prove?Tiernan wrote: Not yet. But I'm sure they might like internet tough-guy J_Crazie to do a nice memorial laced with his usual F-bombs & standard "ass-clown" put down. Those of you using the word tragedy really need to look up the meaning of the word. Tragedy is when young 26 yr old Marines come home from Afghanistan draped in the US flag. This was nothing more than an unfortunate incident that truly impacts very few people outside the Henry family. -
SageI was at the Bengals-Steelers play-off game when Chris Henry caught the 68 yard pass from Palmer (who was subsequently cheap shotted).
My dad is a huge Bengals fan, and that was one of the happiest times I can remember having with him.
RIP Chris. You're in a far better place now. -

It's probably not the right time for this, and I'm not one to judge anyone. But why is it that when someone passes, people say, "You're in a better place now"? I understand people being spiritual, but if you are spiritual, do you not believe in a Heaven and a Hell? Or just a Heaven? Or do you think Chris Henry was a good person with a good heart?Sage wrote: RIP Chris. You're in a far better place now.
I don't mean this as a bash in anyway, I've always wondered this, and thought I'd ask (might be deserving of it's own thread). -

It's funny how people can dislike other peoples personalities on here (can't really hate the person unless you know them personally) and I haven't really agreed w/ anything Sage has said most of the time ... But still stories like this doesn't make the trivial things matter. Great story Sage and that made me smile.Sage wrote: I was at the Bengals-Steelers play-off game when Chris Henry caught the 68 yard pass from Palmer (who was subsequently cheap shotted).

He had the physical skills to go down as one of the all-time great WRs, had he not gone astray so many times. His off the field shit has zero to do with that.september63 wrote:
It is tragic that a young man lost his life. But, c'mon now.....All time greats? Great whats? Underacheiver? He had 6 arrests in 3 years of NFL. He was one of the all time greats at that maybe.fish82 wrote: Very sad...even moreso that he seemed on the verge of finally getting his shit together.
He had the talent to go down as one of the all-time greats, IMO. RIP Slim. -

Are you really THAT mentally impaired to believe that any US Marine killed in Afghanistan doesn't impact our entire country? And in any way shape or form try to compare one of their deaths with this bozo? I hope you never have to meet one of those Marine's families.ts1227 wrote:

MANAZEIn all honesty does anyone really care? Unless your a Bengals or Henry fan do you really care? Its sad and I feel bad for the children but will this cause you to miss work today? When I think of a tragedy I think of 9/11, Pearl Harbor, a roller coaster going off the track etc. Sean Taylor was more of a tragedy than this. Any person knows that it is not smart to ride in the back of a pick up truck when the person driving is mad at you. Prayers go out to his family and I pray that his kids grow to be great people who can enjoy life.

Al Caponeespn just had the 911 call on sportscenter. He was in the bed of the truck beating on the roof of the cab when he fell off.
-
thedynasty1998Not sure what to say about that 911 call.
-
alwaysafanIt is mainly a tragedy because of HIS FAMILY. You have to feel bad for them--they lost a loved one.
But believe it or not, he also added to this world in the form of entertainment. You don't think people appreciated his on-the-field performance and got enjoyment out of it? That will be missed. Of course, it is not important as what he meant to his family, but he still provided enjoyment for thousands/millions. -

I think that is a good point. Nobody actually cares about the death of a person unless it impacts them personally.ts1227 wrote: Your definition of "tragedy" doesn't truly impact anyone outside of that immediate family either, what are you trying to prove?
While Henry's death is sad, it really has no bearing on my life. I'm not going to around with fake sympathy and post his number with RIP all over the place.
It's sad, but I probably won't think about it past tomorrow. This is the way with most deaths.

Why should he be banned? There are no limits in humor and simply because you found it offensive doesn't mean others did not find it funny.
