George Zimmerman recreates the Trayvon Martin shooting

When authorities, or the people who've been trained on what to do in these situations tell you to back off. Then you should back off. Simple as that. Regardless of it was self defense, he shoulda kept his ass away.

I think most people would agree but do we know he didn't back off and even if he didn't that doesn't mean he inappropriately acted if he was threatened.

A 9-1-1 operator is authority? And how do we know he didn't?

I'm glad I watched that video. There's a reason we are innocent until proven guilty. Everyone assumed him to be guilty (of non-self defense) when it happened, with all the outrage.

Sad part is, this is mostly a case of trying to make two wrongs into right. Most of the outrage stems from some sort of misguided payback, ignoring facts/evidence or lack thereof, on the presumptive hypothetical that a black person would have been arrested for this (and basically because of that, Zimmerman should have been arrested).

The Zimmerman lynch mob doesn't do anything to redress anyone who's been wrongfully accused or arrested. Unless the prosecution has an ace up its sleeve, there's no justice for anyone in taking a case to trial that can't be won and perhaps was not justified in the first place.

At the end of the day, the sobering lesson in common sense is:
    1) Don't get your ass kicked
    2) Don't bring skittles to a gunfight.

If this wasn't an election year, we would have never heard about it. I think it is sad when any kid is killed, but there is nothing special about either of these people involved. You have a kid who had a history of drug use and violence that gets killed by a guy who also has a history of violence, it happens everyday in America and nobody gives a shit, why is it such a shocking story now? I guess the 100's of other black kids who are killed every week in America are less important.

Page one of this thread missed the boat. It's all about facts and what not. Page two gets it. It's all about a WHITE man (nevermind the truth) who killed a black kid. You poor souls. Or should I say soles?

You're making just as much of an unjustified judgement of Martin as the people you hate are of Zimmerman.

You are the people you hate.

Travon would still be alive if Zimmerman didn't fancy himself some sort of vigilante. Problem is, I don't know what law Zimmerman broke.

Just a series of poor choices on the part of both resulting in a tragic, unnecessary death. The media made it into a race thing and I think Zimmerman is just an idiot.

    Probably true.

Definitely irrelevant to the case from a legal perspective.

Both Zimmerman and Martin were wanna be bad asses. Martin got in trouble in hs for having weed residue in a baggie, having criminal tools, and possibly assaulting a bus driver. While Zimmerman has an arrest record for domestic violence, resisting arrest, and resisting arrest coupled with violence against an officer. Anyone that tries to paint one as an angel and the other as a demon I feel you are just as bad as the racist clowns Sharpton and Jackson. Let the courts decide Zimmermans fate no matter what it may be.

If they allow the testimony of the people who Zimmerman chased down because he thought they were driving recklessly and they called the cops because they thought Zimmerman was out to kill them, I think he is screwed. He has a history of not only violence, but going after anyone and everyone he thinks is breaking the law, from chasing them down to calling the cops to report insanely minor suspiscion. The prosecution is going to try to make him out to be a loose cannon wannabe vigilante (which I personally think he is). It just depends on what they allow.

Detective faulted George Zimmerman for not avoiding confrontation with Trayvon Martin
Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman missed two opportunities to try to peacefully approach Trayvon Martin before he fatally shot the unarmed teenager,
according to an investigator's report released Tuesday.
"The encounter between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin was ultimately avoidable by Zimmerman, if Zimmerman had remained in his vehicle and awaited the arrival of law enforcement, or conversely if he had identified himself to Martin as a concerned citizen and initiated dialog in an effort to dispel each party's concern," investigator Chris Serino wrote in an arrest warrant affidavit.
The affidavit was filed more than two weeks after the shooting when the Sanford Police Department was being criticized for not having arrested Zimmerman. Serino's March 13 affidavit recommended Zimmerman be picked up for manslaughter, but a special prosecutor assigned to take over the case upped the charge to second-degree murder.
In the report released Tuesday, police say Zimmerman contradicted himself by saying that he was initially fearful of Martin but later got out of his vehicle and followed after the teen.
"His actions are inconsistent with those of a person who has stated he was in fear of another subject," Serino wrote.
