The fat in the steak will leave you satiated for hours.

Don't question that you've had results and "congrats." Nice to see your success. Just saying that the "calories in/calories out" and "starvation mode" fallacies are BS. Your body won't go into starvation mode unless your bodyfat level is ridiculously low. Really has nothing to do with "fancy diets." Ya eat shit, ya make shit.

Yeah, I do. One of my degrees, thank you.

Sprinting is going to keep that metabolism burning longer than distance running unless you are sprinting for that full 20-30 minutes. In that case, you're going to be dealing with cortisol which is a whole other can of worms.

Might want to do more research instead of believing all of the 'broscience" your distance runner friends are feeding you. A lot of newer info out there you might want to look into instead of the same old, same old..."run three miles and you'll be fine" stuff.

@ BR, so sprinting is better than running 3 miles? How long of breaks between the sprints?

    CCrunner need not respond.

lol at women who don't lift because they think they'll get bulky. "I'm going to use 5lbs weights and do 15 reps to tone" Yet they're still fat. My office mate goes spinning 2-3 times a week and appears to eat healthy but she's still really fat. The mass majority of women don't understand they don't workout enough to be even close to being ripped.

I haven't done them for time - but i've done them on the track, sprint the straights and walk the curves. Did 4 laps of that and was ready to hurl.

Speaking of cortisol/lactic acid. The human body is not made to sprint more than 20 seconds at a time, 40 if you are in great shape. The 400m is a sprint, the 800m is dangerous and the 1600m is endurance.

That's why my Prowler push sprints are typically 20-40 yards. Done LONG before 20 seconds....

Doesn't matter HOW much they train unless they are injecting test. A woman isn't going to add significant mass. All they will do by lifting heavy is perhaps tighten their butts up.

Ain't nothing wrong with that! Seriously, more girls need to lift weights.

Agreed. Too many misconceptions. They hear "lift weights" and they see some 225 lb female bodybuilder with hair growing off of her teeth. Women just can't get that big, naturally. Most of them are complaining about their "saggy" butts when there's a simple solution to it.

Squats would seriously benefit most people female or male but no one likes to do those it seems.

Hell, squats are probably even a better idea than crunches if you're trying to get better ab definition too. And it won't, you know, fuck up your back.

I still stand by my first post. If you're looking to get into lifting in anyway Starting Strength is a pretty well respected program/introduction even with strength and conditioning coaches.

Try to keep the sprints at 8-10 sprints, less than 40 yards but I use a Prowler with weights. Generally take anywhere from 30 seconds to 1:30 minutes between sprints. Quick and efficient.

BTW...here's a nice little article for you. Might learn something...

How do squats help with abs definition?

I'm not a fan of them, but i do them 2-3 times a week. I hate them but the results speak for themselves.

Starting Strength is a GREAT program for a noob. Rippetoe is pretty knowledgeable.

Squats are the best exercise but they don't target the vanity muscles as much as people would like.

Well squats require a lot of stabilization from your core so you end up building those muscles.

But they will boost natural testosterone helping those vanity muscles grow.

They work your entire body - when you push the weight back up your entire core is engaged, not just your legs.
