lhslep134Eminem and besides Nas, I'm not really sure who comes close in terms of best of all time. Certainly some great ones, but I think those are clearly the top two IMO

In addition, look at Dlazz's earlier post. Spot on about him falling way off -
Commander of Awesome
Reps. Never understood the fascination with him. Whiny ass delivery and only has one subject he raps about it. Oh he makes funny music videos? Ok IDGAF.DeyDurkie5;1165622 wrote:Eminem is overrated too. "waaaaaah my ex is a bitch and I never see my daughter." get the fuck over it. -

Lot of his songs are about that. But I could name 10 great songs that arent. I think my top 5 of his would consist of it.DeyDurkie5;1165622 wrote:Eminem is overrated too. "waaaaaah my ex is a bitch and I never see my daughter." get the fuck over it.

robj55Eminem is the GOAT, everyone else is just fighting for second place.

Yes, we know. You already stated this opinion a while back.robj55;1165806 wrote:Eminem is the GOAT, everyone else is just fighting for second place. -
ManO'WarMy favs growing up were Fearless Four, Treacherous 3, Grandmaster Melle Mel, Run DMC, Whodini, LL, UTFO, Rakim, EPMD, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, Ghetto Boys, Special Ed, 2pac...and there were a ton of great 12 inch singles....like DJ Cheese, MC Breeze, Steady B, Rappin Duke (lol), Wuf Ticket, Nucleus, etc...
Too many to even try to remember.
I liked rap back then a lot better...it wasn't commercial like it is now, and there were some really good and diversified styles. -

Its becoming tougher and tougher to find good new rap/hip hop artists. Most are underground and are great until they sign that record deal and sell outCommander of Awesome;1165251 wrote:Most rappers today are horrible IMO. Outside of Wale there really isn't a rapper out today that I like. -

Some artists/groups from back in the day are still putting good music out there. I picked up the Smif-n-Wessun + Pete Rock collabo album "Monumental" several months ago. QUALITY shit. Thoroughly enjoyed it. If you like that NY Hip-Hop sound/style or were a big Boot Camp Clik or Pete Rock fan....add this to your collection. -
GOONx19I know a lot of you guys hate him, and he's certainly not the greatest of all time, but my personal favorite is and always will be 'Ye. In thirty years I think he'll be showing up on lists a lot more. No rapper has ever been as successful in changing their style as many times as he has. Everything he puts out is a classic, and a lot of it has to do with him surrounding himself with a good cast. I've never heard a bad feature on a Kanye album.

For the purpose of the poll, it's gotta be Nas. -
Hb31187I enjoy some of his stuff. But his last album he pulled an Andre 3000 and just got entirely too weird

ManO'War
I was never too into the West Coast scene...but I did enjoy NWA for what it was. The first West Coast album that I thought was really good was The Chronic. I liked a few of Too Short's cuts too.ccrunner609;1166368 wrote:THat sounds like my youth but went more west coast by 1990 with DJ Quick, 2ndIInone and Comptons most wanted. -

Agree that Kanye will be on these lists years from now. Double threat as producer and rapper. Wasn't crazy about 808's and Heartbreaks but think everything else he's put out has been genius. Sure, he's a dick but his music is still great IMO.
