1. Believe it's likely that person existed in real life as a prophet of his man-created faith.
2. Also believe it's likely that said person was executed because in times of conflicting religious beliefs, that's how "gods" liked to have their problems solved.
3. Therefore, must believe every story about said person...no matter how fanciful they may be. Walk on water, instantly feed masses by causing food to multiply, auto-turn water into wine, cure lepers, come back from the dead, bring someone else back to life, etc. If anything about him is real, it all is. No questions asked.
Lol. By those standards, one could pick up the Frontiersmen by Allan Eckert and say that since Tecumseh, Simon Kenton, Daniel Boone, etc. were real people, then every word in that book is law. Even the parts that are obviously dramatized to make it a more interesting read that feels more like a novel than a historical account of that time period in Ohio. -

1. The shirt is not an affront the beliefs of several Christians and vast numbers of Christians in this country. They believe Christ is not a homophobe.gut;1136542 wrote:I didn't say the shirt was sexual or indecent, I said it was a deliberate affront on Christian beliefs. That's what you don't understand. Like I said, I doubt you would approve of the "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" t-shirt. It's essentially the same type argument presented in the same way, it's just not a pro-gay message.
Christianity views homosexual acts as a sin, not being a homosexual. Technically, a homophobe would only fear or be offended by the acts. So in that regard Christianity and Jesus are, in fact, homophobic. This shirt deliberately attacks that belief system that homosexuality is wrong, doing so to get a reaction, and in that regard it is inappropriate.
2. I would classify this T shirt with one that said Christ was not a racist. Until the recent past many churches supported and practiced segregation using the Biblical quotes to justify their acts. Those folks would be affronted by Christ is not a racist.
3. The large majority of dictionaries do not accept your definition of homophobe. They define it as fear and hatred of homosexuals. The lexicographers along with psychiatrists and psychologist see that as the definition of the terms.
The T shirt carried a positive message and was a compliment to Christ. -

Why yes it is a religious problem. Some of our more narrow minded Christian groups are opposing anti bullying legislation, because it protects homosexuals. And the statement “ Christ is not a homophobe “ directly addresses their stand.ccrunner609;1136601 wrote:Once again you fail to see that the expression and "speech" he is making has nothing to do with the "real" problem of bullying. Bullying is not a religious problem is it?
He should not be allowed to wear the shirt because IT DOES NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. If his shirt read "bullies shouldnt be homophobes" I would be ok with it because it actually addresses the problem. Religion has nothing to do with it.

Bullies should not be homophobes” just redirects bullies to return to bullying others based on their physical appearance, size, way of dress, athletic ability, intellect and on and on.

I'm not saying, nor is his t-shirt saying, to be tolerant of sin. Wasn't it the bible that stated "hate the sin, not the sinner"? I know that is something that crazy homophobes like to bring up a lot. -

It's not in the Bible. why would believing in his cruxifixion require you to acknowledg the resurrection. if someone is not a Christiain he can believe that the historical Jesus was crucified but not accept the Resurrection.Skyhook79;1136744 wrote:Since you believe in the crucifixion then you must also acknowledge the resurrection. In regards to the shirt.............How does pointing out anything about Jesus relate to bullying? Galactically stupid shirt that has almost nothing to do with bullying. Judge should of thrown this garbage out.

My guess is that 95% of "christians" dont agree with you. The christian faith believes that being gay is a sin.
Meanwhile, for the first time in 15 years, fewer than half oppose same-sex marriage. Forty-eight percent of Americans are now against same-sex couples marrying, a dip from 54 percent the previous year.
Notably, pluralities of white mainline Protestants and white Catholics now favor allowing same-sex marriage – another first for the Pew Research Center.
According to the poll, white mainline Protestants are more likely to support gay marriage (49 percent) than oppose it (38 percent). In the past two years, 49 percent had expressed opposition. Among those who attend church at least once a week, 35 percent favor gays and lesbians marrying.
A similar shift is seen among Catholics. While opinion was more evenly divided over the past two years, today 49 percent favor gay marriage and 41 percent oppose."
http://www.christianpost.com/news/poll-protestant-support-for-gay-marriage-rises-47125/
A new ABC-Washington Post poll finds that, for the first time, a majority of Americans now believe that same-sex marriages should be legal. The poll finds 53 percent think “it should be legal for gay and lesbian couples to get married.” About 45 percent said it should be illegal.

And that will increase,
Of course, support is much higher among the young as the more homophobic generations are dying off. -
