Could you get 576,000 miles out of your car?

That's a lot of miles on two cars!!! The thing with high mileage cars is that not everything is predictable when it comes to failure. Preventative maintenance can't protect from everything. It's nice to have at least some new from of transportation available but good for your household for what seems to be getting their money's worth out of those vehicles.I Wear Pants;1135169 wrote:My car is going to hit 200,000 next week sometime.
Another one my family has is at like 270k or something like that.
It's a mixture of not giving a **** about a car as a status symbol/fashion item and also not having money to blow on new vehicles even if I did. -

I rationalized the purchase of my new car this way:I Wear Pants;1135169 wrote:It's a mixture of not giving a shit about a car as a status symbol/fashion item and also not having money to blow on new vehicles even if I did.
*My old car needed about $1500 of work done to it. It had 135k on it.
*Old car got ~20mpg
*New car came with 100k/10yr warranty
*New car came with roadside assistance
*New car gets ~40mpg
The fact that I can jump in my car and drive 1,000mi without worrying about getting stranded somewhere is enough for me. -

And I take really good care of my car and despite near 200,000 would have no qualm taking the car across the country.dlazz;1135602 wrote:I rationalized the purchase of my new car this way:

Hell, I took a 10,000+ mile road trip on a whim in what was then a 9-year-old car. -

I take good care of my vehicles too, but I am saving about $50+ a month in gas. It's wonderful.Sykotyk;1135850 wrote:And I take really good care of my car and despite near 200,000 would have no qualm taking the car across the country.

Fab1b50 a month on gas savings is great but what is your car payment? I save what probably avg payment 250 - 400 a mos with no payment.

Emmett BrownI hope my car can make it that long. It only has 34,000 miles on it so I have a long way to go. I paid it off over two years ago when I had 11,000 miles on it. It's a 09 pontiac (TOYOTA) Vibe
