Soccer. Never touched a ball in my life....see it, kick it.

They come back, see it, kick it.

They come back, see it, kick it.

They come back, see it kick it. Etc.

I don't have to kick to score, I can kick it anywhere I want.

Basketball doesn't work like that. Rules dictate what you can or cannot do.
The last time I played basketball organized was 6-7 years before I played intramurals. In high school and the first few years in college, I did very little basketball-stuff. Maybe shot around for fun. But that's about it.

On the court, I just relied on my athleticism to defend and go after any loose balls. I passed and dribbled, not much shooting. I like a 3-pointer every once in a while, maybe one a game. I "disrupted." I probably even "disrupted" my team from scoring by shooting once every game. :)

Athleticism. It'll get people so far. Other times...you need more, like actual skill to be able to participate at a high enough level. That's something not many other athletes will have against Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, or even smaller clubs from the MLS. Even Ochostinko couldn't make the reserve team with Sporting KC! I watched his trial...it was pitiful. He's the "epitome" of athleticism with WRs in the NFL...couldn't kick a ball enough do do ANYTHING!

Come play in the indoor league here where I am at. Sub-par soccer players and you probably couldn't even handle them. There's enough "disrupting" going on...but they'd still dominate you. Anyone can "boot it" as you would be doing (had to throw my soccer parent lingo in there for you to understand) in soccer. Just like anyone can be in the way in ANY sport and still do alright -- again, this is pickup, rec, and very uncompetitive leagues we are talking about. This isn't top-of-the-line athletic competition.

WC soccer players would beat WC basketball players 30-0 in a full 90 game
WC basketball players would be WC soccer players by 80ish in a full 48 min game

pretty similar when score comparisons are made

MB is really doing some trolling on the same level as classic sleeper. It's really funny because he actually believes it.

Why is it that Chad Johnson, couldn't even make an MLS team (not even close to the best league for professional soccer). Chad Johnson is surely a top flight athlete. He was also quite the soccer player as a kid. Even with all that going for him he couldn't make a MLS squad?

    Point already covered, thanks:

Do you realize Chad Johnson tried out for one of the worst MLS teams in the league (MLS is not even close to being on par with the best leagues), and he looked like a complete fool playing in their PRACTOCE SQUAD scrimmage, despite the fact he is more athetically gifted than all those guys combined.
Go back to being a shitty mod.

Sorry, I usually don't read your posts as most of the time they're worthless. But you made some good points in that one that I obviously agree with. I would reps you, but I'd then neg your last post. So I'll call it a wash.

If you read that as "bragging," you read it wrong.

I do have the t-shirts to prove it!

Except you will literally not touch the ball versus the best 11 in the world. If the other top players in soccer cant stop Messi and get the ball from him, neither can LeBron. The top 11 in the world would have 95% possession if they wanted, the other 5% coming when the NBA stars kicked off and had the ball before giving it up and getting scored on again.

NBA would lose to soccer stars 50-0 in a 90 minute game, if they wanted.
Soccer would lose to NBA like 150-20 in a 48 minute game.

Not sure how one is better of being more competitive and disruptive than the other?

Also, if you foul in soccer, you are gone a lot faster than NBA. Messi, Iniesta, Ronaldo etc would be so fast with their feet, your attempts ate kicking the ball would result in a yellow card almost everytime.

Was Chad Johnson trying to win, it is amazing how people can't see logic.

I'm an awful soccer player, I'm not scoring, I'm not winning. I was a decent (but not all-state) basketball player. Against similar (if not better) soccer players at that level I can disrupt the game, especially if I have teammates trying to do the same thing.

The counter is simply NOT POSSIBLE in basketball. If there is an argument it can be done, I'd like to read it. What can they do?

Do you work for NBC news. I never said anything about winning.
  • Automatik
Again, what is your point? Since when did people get off to "disrupting" a game? I don't think anyone has said or really gives a shit if soccer players can "disrupt" a basketball game. You might be the only person on the planet that actually cares about this. You were in decent shape and could run around the soccer field like a jackass. Congrats!

lol...its so fucking stupid I can't believe the discussion is still going. I stand by my earlier statement.....one of the dumbest OC debates of all time.

"Soccer would lose to NBA like 150-20 in a 48 minute game."

This is simply ridiculous. A soccer team isn't scoring a single point. Many very good HS teams wouldn't score without a lucky 3 pointer or half court heave. You actually think people that never picked up a basketball in their lives would score 20 against an NBA team?

    And I'm the troll.

I agree, I would be (and was) a jackass - it can happen in the world's "best" sport.

You're an idiot if you think most of these EUROPEAN players haven't touched a basketball in their lives.

BTW you realize that Steve Nash's brother plays pro soccer in Canada and he had a D1 college basketball offer... He could be their pointguard and I guarantee they'd score

If he could score he'd be in the NBA making money. There is no way the world's best soccer team scores 20 against an NBA team without luck. It is a ridiculous statement. Many very good college teams wouldn't score 20.
