The issue was when you got off the exit it went to 3 lanes...and then funneled ya down to just one. I had read in tthe paper how fast the race had been growing so that probably had alot to do with it.
It was fun..but after running Indy I am not sure I will go back to the USAF one...will just seem too boring.
Does Indy finish down town or are you doing the one which finishes on the speedway?

Not at the track. I guess it ends downtown...it started downtown but ended at some large park...monument park area maybe? Forget the exact name. It is a huge one and ya get starting corals to start out in. I presume it is done that way in many huge races like this one. You can get preferential starting up towards the to with faster speeds.

    It was an aboslute blast

You've gotta be able to run fast when the parents are chasing you.

Plus to mention, couple + years ago the AF Marathon had relays, which made traffic a lot worse. They got rid of the relays which helped.

Dont think they had the relays that year. I know the Full started an hour before the HM that year. Much of the issues was with the traffic getting into the base where they funneled everyone down to one lane, and then had to get shuttled from the lot to the race start.

In another scheduling snafu...they held a 5K late afternoon the day before.....during a peak time of people going there to pick up their race packets for the HM the next day.

Imagine it was just growing pains from a race that was growing pretty darned big. If I would ever do it again it would solely be because it is fairly close.
