At least he would be original, seeing as a half marathon is 13.1. -

I'm not an expert on time, but 2:19 is longer than 2:18.Glory Days;1133998 wrote:Officially 2:19 here when i ran one. but i stopped at the last mile to wait for a friend. so i win! -

said_aouitaNice run! Any more coming up?
You should do the Airforce half marathon, at WPAFB in Fairborn. It's 9/15/12.
Great run, well put on. Lots of goodies.
edit- Always thought it was cool the Airforce also does a "deployed marathon" for our military serving over seas. Held at various bases.

THE4RINGZI am a drinker not a runner, but congratulations. I love to see people accomplish their goals.

mellaGreat job. I've run 5k's but have not worked up yet. I want to run a half and will try to do one later this summer or early fall. I can do 3.1 in about 25 minutes, but the extra 10 miles will need some work.

its actually not that bad. i only ran for about 2 months before the race. the most i ran in training was 10 miles, twice.mella;1134218 wrote:Great job. I've run 5k's but have not worked up yet. thavoiceAwesome job man. I prusume the course is hilly?
I have done two, the Air Force Half at WPAFB and the Indy Mini. The Indy Mini was amazing...30k people and very entertaining as you were never out of earshot of some band or DJ playing music! The one at WPAFB wasnt as exciting as some of it was on base, and the other around Wright State University so there wasnt as much stuff around to entertain ya! Plus, the parking logistics there were terrible. Many people started 30-60 min late due to the traffic.
At Indy ya get to go around the speedway track which was cool. On the curves you were on the infield lane but the straightaways were on the actual track. NEver realized how steep those corners are! That one sells out 4-5 months early and I hope to do it again!
HMs are a blast! Many of the HM training plans dont have you go over 10 miles. BOth times I ran it I maxed out at 15 miles about 2.5-3 weeks before just so I knew mentally I coul do it.
My times werent great compared to the other guys I ran with. I tend to go with my GPS pace a little more than the time. Think the first around 1:43 and the second one, the Mini was around 1:40. I do know the pace for the first one was 8:10 and the second was an 8 min mile pace. The indy one showed I ran 13.2 miles...probably from the weaving in and out more and such and maybe not hugging the inside when going around the speedway.
I suggest anyone who likes to race to try one. In some ways it is more enjoyable than a 5k. 5k ya tend to go balls out for the 3.1 ones and man it takes alot outta ya, but the HM is more of an enjoyable run! -

Have they cleared up some of the parking and such in the last couple of years? I got to the exit 1 hour and 10 min before the race...and I actually started the race 7 minutes after the official gun, and you could still see people waiting on the overpass. There were some very pissed off people on the shuttle buses from the lot to the beginning of the race.said_aouita;1134168 wrote:Nice run! Any more coming up?

The after race food was much better at WPAFB HM though...pizza and such, than the Indy Mini -
martyirishThe longest race I ever ran in was a 5K. Someday I hope to be able to do that.
Won't care about the time, just to finish with out stopping.
Congrats to you. That is awesome -

I think so? I got right in last year. I think it may have to do with what way you enter. Off of Colonel Glenn hwy, turns into Airway rd (I believe) and end up near the AF museum was no problem getting in.thavoice;1134384 wrote:Have they cleared up some of the parking and such in the last couple of years? You can't enter anymore from Rte 4. -

Cannot remember exactly which way..it was the one they recommended on their info. The issue was when you got off the exit it went to 3 lanes...and then funneled ya down to just one. I had read in tthe paper how fast the race had been growing so that probably had alot to do with it.said_aouita;1134483 wrote:I think so? I got right in last year. It was fun..but after running Indy I am not sure I will go back to the USAF one...will just seem too boring.
