The zombie apocalypse is upon us: do you try to survive or just end it quickly?

mellaThey might not be able to swim but could they walk across the bottom of a lake? They are dead, so they don't need to breathe, they appear to move on instinct toward sound and light. My money says they can walk across the bottom of a lake.

Laley23Survive. Go zombie hunting every day to pass the time.

But they are weak as fuck. I think the current would take them wherever it was going. No way they could fight the current and win.mella;1121233 wrote:They might not be able to swim but could they walk across the bottom of a lake? dwccrewSurvive until I had no choice but to end it or get eaten alive.
Of course I'd fortify the shit out of my perimeter and home much better than they did on The Walking Dead. Trench out some area around my property and fill it with fuel to light in case a herd comes by. Beyond that setup multiple razor wire barriers. All you have is time in the zombie apocalypse to accumulate items such as these. -
dwccrewNot too mention I'd fortify my home better than they did.

ThinthickbigredIm curious do zobies defecate

justincredibleI'm not sure where I'd go to hunker down. I guess I'd head back to my hometown and setup a base at my grandma's farm. She has 120+ acres out in the middle of no where. I guess a lot like Herschel's farm. I'd like to think I'd do a better job at being prepared for a huge swarm of walkers than they were.

Also, they wouldn't sink would they? I think they'd float.Laley23;1121245 wrote:But they are weak as ****. I think the current would take them wherever it was going. No way they could fight the current and win. -

So, you're saying you'd fortify your place better than they did?dwccrew;1121524 wrote:Not too mention I'd fortify my home better than they did. -

Not only that, he would also fortify his place better than they did.hoops23;1121637 wrote:So, you're saying you'd fortify your place better than they did?
I would kill myself. I have no interest in living in that world. Living in a war zone always looking out for rotting cannibals? No thanks. -
Glory Dayswent on a road trip this past week. listened to two zombie audio books along the way. World War Z and Day by Day Armageddon and Day by Day Beyond Exile. My plan is to head west and north, get to the high plains where there are mountains to slow the hordes and wide open lines of sight to kill zombies that make it through at a distance.

good idea. I definitely would trench the shit out of wherever I was with some sort of moat filled with tar or some sort of sticky mud/swamp like shit so the zombies would get stuck/slowed down.Glory Days;1121668 wrote:went on a road trip this past week. listened to two zombie audio books along the way. Also, I honestly think I'd try and get to a big city and get into a tall ass building. I'd think you could see the zomb's coming up the stairs (if you couldn't fortify the door) and it'd be easy target practice (think: 300... funnel many into small space). -
hoops23Tall office building would be smart. Multiple rooms/exits and you could likely see/hear zombies shuffling by. Grab a building with a high floor penthouse with a street view.

You'd have to install a series of zip wires or something in the event that the building becomes overrun by walkers and you're only way to escape is from the roof.hoops23;1121684 wrote:Tall office building would be smart. Makes sense since zombies are not allowed into Canada.sjmvsfscs08;1121118 wrote:Probably disassemble our two greenhouses, load them and all of the seed/supplies onto the trucks, drive 15min north to the lake, steal some boats and load them into that, and head to Pelee Island. -
gutThe problem with a trench is the herd keeps coming, until eventually the bodies fill the trench and then the others are able to walk/crawl across.
Alcatraz would be a good bet because even if they can cross the bay, they can't get through the fortifications. Problem is, what do you do for food? I'm not eating spam every day so I'd want a farm.
The office building could work, but if there are thousands surrounding you all your exits would only put you in the thick of the herd. So you'd need a series of zip lines so you could cover a few blocks along rooftops. -

Sounds familiar.gut;1121729 wrote:The office building could work, but if there are thousands surrounding you all your exits would only put you in the thick of the herd. So you'd need a series of zip lines so you could cover a few blocks along rooftops. -

Yes, I extended it because it wasn't clear that you'd just zipline to the next building. You'd have to be able to travers a few city blocks or more.justincredible;1121735 wrote:Sounds familiar.
Or just find Chuck Norris and stay close behind him (but just out of roundhouse range). -
passwordHead to the top floor of skyscraper, with no electric you would not have to worry about them using the elevator to get you. You would then block off the bottom floor stairwells and demolish a couple of the mid level stairwells. You would not be able to leave but they would not be able to reach you either, then you just start a garden on the roof and become a vegetarian.

I am sure you could raid the vending machines in the beginning, they have delicious burgers, not sure if any of it is real meat.justincredible;1121784 wrote:I'd rather die than become a vegetarian. -
Glory Dayssky scrapers wouldnt work because you need food, water, and an escape plan. zombies adapt and would eventually reach the top. plus, when winter hits, you wouldnt be able to burn stuff for heat or would run out of stuff to burn.
another good plan is to get a boat and also learn how to fly so you can get a plane. you can find an island somewhere near the coast and you can hop around from airport to airport and harbor to harbor to scavenge for food and return back to your safe island. -

Where do you plan on getting fuel for your boat and plane? Sure, there would be some around for a little bit. But the fuel would dry up really quick and you'd be screwed.Glory Days;1121910 wrote:another good plan is to get a boat and also learn how to fly so you can get a plane. you can find an island somewhere near the coast and you can hop around from airport to airport and harbor to harbor to scavenge for food and return back to your safe island. -

Dude, you could make paper planes all day long. Or maybe use pigeons instead.sherm03;1121914 wrote:Where do you plan on getting fuel for your boat and plane? Sure, there would be some around for a little bit. But the fuel would dry up really quick and you'd be screwed. -

Sail boats......and sure, you couldnt fly the plane forever and it is not something you would do every day. but i am willing to bet though, fuel would go bad before you actually run out of fuel. remember, the zombie virus spreads pretty fast and you would be the only person (or one of the few) using the fuel compared to the thousands of flights a day and millions of people driving cars a day.sherm03;1121914 wrote:Where do you plan on getting fuel for your boat and plane?
