Personal weight loss/gain
-
bigkahunaI gained around 50 pounds over my 4 years of college and another 30-50 the 4 years after that. Eight years after high school, I'm about 90lbs heavier than I was on my 18th birthday. I went vegetarian a few months ago and lost 25lbs in 2 months. However, my wife discovered that a lack of protein and a lot of soy beans kills the white army, so I had to quit for the sake of our family creating. Since I've stopped being vegetarian, I've gained back ~10 of the 25 that I lost. I was getting a lot of protein though. I was drinking protein shakes and eating a lot of beans/peanuts/peanut butter. I think I might go back to the vegetarian thing and just not eat the soy products/meat substitute things. The craziest thing was that I didn't miss meat. I've done different diets in the past have craved w/e I cut out. This was actually finally working, but I decided to stop doing it myself.
I agree with BR1986. When I cut out meat, I cut out a lot of processed junk and fast food(The only thing I ate was a veggie burrito bowl from Chiptole). I ate A TON of fresh fruits and veggies obviously. My biggest problem was that as soon as I stopped the diet, I was like "Oh, I can eat Taco Bell again, and wings, and greasy burgers." I'm not an "in the middle" type of person. It's either all or nothing for me with everything. I really wish I could break that habit; at least with food. -

It's not the meat that's a problem...it's the processed junk/fast food/bad carbs. I could eat 2-3 steaks at a sitting and as long as I'm exercising regularly, I'm fine.bigkahuna;1112162 wrote:I gained around 50 pounds over my 4 years of college and another 30-50 the 4 years after that. I used to be a proponent of the "6 small meals, every 2-3 hours" until I found out that was bunk. The processed grains (oats, wheat, etc) just made me famished before the 3 hours were up. I like to eat BIG so I fast 16 hours a day and usually only eat twice in an 8 hour window. My first meal of the day can go upward of 2000 calories and I STILL drop weight/bodyfat. The healthy fats from grassfed beef, coconut oil, avocados, etc satiate the body and cut out the cravings. When I'm "on" I never crave carbs.
You body only actually needs 20-30g's carbs per day to function well. You might be a little "groggy/lethargic' at first but that goes away quickly. I try to keep my daily carb intake between 50g's (non training days) and 100g's (heavy lifting days) and I continue to drop weight/bodyfat and feel great. -
Terry_TateI was pretty much around 180 all my life(I'm 5' 7'') then ran cross country my Senior year of high school and dropped to 155, but through college shot up to 200. 4 years out of college Im now 210, but was 219 about 3 weeks ago. I've stopped eating anything deep fried or drinking pop, as well as just overall eating better meals and exercising, and am hoping to drop to 170ish over the next few months. Its encouraging to step on the scale and seeing my weight go down for a change.

sejI was 232 last March, though in my defense I was pregnant. I gained 98 lbs, and am down to losing the last stubborn 15 lbs or so. I've been eating terribly for the last couple months due in large part to my stupid schedule and major lack of sleep. The gym has been a stranger. However, I'm starting a new job with "normal" hours tomorrow, and am definitely working the gym into our schedule. I miss being toned. The better eating will likely come naturally. I love to cook when I'm not a total zombie running on 2.5 hours of sleep.
Oddly enough, in college I was the lightest I have ever been. My last year, I tipped the scales around 120, which is rather skeletal for my frame. I'm comfortable between 135-140 for the most part. -
hasbeenI wrestled at 171 in high school, but played football around 195.
After my fifth year of college and last of football, I was up to a not that beefy 230.
Junior year I weighed 225, but had a lot more muscle. Third shift and student teaching fucked me for senior year.
I'm about 215 now. I am worried about once I'm done playing though. -
Manhattan BuckeyeHeaviest was 194 in 2006, skinniest was 162 after a surgery. I try to keep it around 170.

Early CuylerI'm 6'1", I weighed around 160 in high school. By the end of my freshman year in college, I had ballooned up to around 195 (Too much junk after too many alcohol-fueled nights). By the end of my sophomore year I was down to around 165. Currently, as a senior I weigh 148, and am in the best shape I've ever been in. The best part is I never stopped drinking either. #sorry4partyin

OSHPut me in the same list as everyone else...
My senior year in college I was around 185-190. I gained 30+ pounds after college (over the course of a year or two) and stayed around 215ish until 56 days ago.
I started the 4-Hour Body and have dropped 25 pounds while also eating the healthiest I ever have. I am down to around 190 now. I feel great. I don't eat crap (except on my cheat days). I wouldn't mind losing another 7+ pounds. -

It's the drunk food that mostly gets you imo, not so much the beer. Especially in college when you are drinking mostly light beer.Early Cuyler;1112190 wrote:I'm 6'1", I weighed around 160 in high school. ernest_t_bassJustin, I gotta see this picture, lol.

ernest_t_bassI got to my heaviest when the kids came. Just not enough time to be as active as I would like to be, especially on a consistent basis. Starting P90X in a couple weeks to help combat it.

McFly1955I'm 6' - graduated high school in '04 around 150 --- Highest I got was to 165 about 2 years ago -- currently around 157 or so for the past year.

IliketurtlesI was about 130 when I graduated high school in 2004. When I finished college in 2008 I was 155. Now about 4 years later I'm up to about 195. I'm 6'2 so its not too bad. I would like to get back down to about 165. It's not really my weight that I even care about I'd really just love to get back into the shape I was in when I was running competitively.

HereticAfter college, I found 180ish (181-184) to be easy to maintain at a shade under 5'10". Until the marriage fell apart and I started this extended binge of "get obliterated and then eat a shit-ton of food before crashing". That got me to where I hovered between 225 and 245. Last year, I finally got sick of that to the degree where I actually stuck with a plan and am now down to 191. Or I was the last time I weighed myself (Thursday or Friday). Last night at my friend's, after basketball, I had a huge intoxicated pre-bed meal, so it could be up a pound or two today.

ernest_t_bassGraduated at 170-75ish (I think.) Highest was 212. Down to about 198 right now. Got back down to 168 in college, but that was while taking Ripped Fuel with Ephedrine. My goal right now is to be under 200, just less fat and more muscle.
